I agree with number 1, that's still one of my favorite speeches. The rest of the list I'd change though. 11's very first speech with all the visuals of his past incarnations before he finally emerges from the face of David Tennant wearing his own costume for the first time. The Speech 12 gives to the Master and the Mistress which is really the only time he really felt like the Doctor to me. The Pandorica Speech. And since I can't think of another one I guess the Zygon Speech can stay on there too.

Murray Gold deserves SO much credit for the music behind the Akhaten scene and many others… This man was the musical director of “Doctor Who” from 2005 to 2017 - he gave us the songs of Akhaten, the Ood, every intro song variation during that timeframe, the River Song theme… I cannot stress enough how important his contribution has been to this show 🎶💕🙏🏻

Yes, like ol Dudley Simpson in the 70s with his atmospheric and creepy music in Blakes 7 and Doctor Who. The first appearance of Davros in Genesis of the Daleks was greatly increased in tension, fear and horror by his music. Murray Gold was the same, giving the show a whole identity for a new generation. Then Chibnut got rid of him in favour of an tone deaf idiot with a synth and a fixation on dustbin lids for cymbals....I have never heard anything that bad. And its worse as Murray Gold was so good. Where could you go but down? And that is what they did, every single thing that was good in the show was wrecked over the course of the first Chibnall season, from the Doctor, to Script and Stories, acting and music it all went in the toilet. And there desperate attempt to fix and turn it around is to bring back RTD. And if things were so amazing they would not have needed to do that at all.....I hope they turn it around, but I wont be watching, they lost me as a viewer for good. I have no desire to see a Tardis with an openly gay doctor and various other trans actors and drag queens in tow.....its just too much....

I loved ten's speech to Wilfred. Literally every word he says is 100% true. Wilfred is just an old man close to the end of his life and ten could do so much more good with his life than Wilfred could possibly do with his remaining time. He has also done so much good that he has more than earned someone else sacrificing for him for a change. He also knows that he could never live with himself if he let Wilfred die for him.

This is also his redemption for Waters of Mars where people were doomed to die and he broke the laws of time to save them. He could have let Wilf die but 1) he’d regret it and 2) he knows his role as the doctor is to save people. We love the doctor because even though he can regenerate he doesn’t act invincible, he still treats each regeneration like dying.

I just wish they had kept the knock in that scene they showd. For any that don't know, The Doctor was told "He will knock 4 times, and then you will die" by an actual soothsayer in the middle of these specials, and does everything he can to stop every sequence of 4 knocks for hours of screen time to delay his death. Then finally, Wilfred knocks 4 times to get the Doctor's attention

I love the Akhaten speech because it carries a double meaning. "Oh, you like to think you're a god. You're not a god, you're just a parasite, eaten out with jealousy and envy and longing for the lives of others. You feed on them, on the memory of love and loss and birth and death and joy and sorrow!" It's so powerful because the Doctor understands that he is a parasyte, as well, and is speaking as much about himself as he was Akhaten.

@@samairborneshepherd Tennant's doctor was not just fun: it was also portrayed in a great way by a great actor, despite the writer's ability not always on par with him. Capaldi to me added not just pain, but depth and experience, both as an actor and as a character. I liked that these two things matched. A more experienced doctor, with centuries of good and bad experiences, portrayed by a definitely more experienced actor: i am not talking against Tennant, but Capaldi played an episode where he was the only person on screen, and carried on his shoulders more than one episode that would otherwise be just poorly written. Also, he was able to put all of this together with a character who was still able to feel the emotions as strongly as a young man. It's easy to get old, experienced, and cynical, and sometimes Capaldi's doctor could have looked more cynical than other doctors. The truth is he was just disoriented, but despite his older appearance he had an immortal young spark inside him, so strong that soon it started shining, despite whatever happened inside and around him. 12th is my doctor.

He alone is one of the most dangerous beings in existence, and has seen things that would drive any other being to madness, and committed crimes that nobody could punish him for, because there are no punishments that could fit the scope of his crimes, and as stated by the 12th Doctor, has killed so many people that when he closes his eyes, hears so many screams that he can’t even count them. The 12th Doctors Zygon speech is so great, not only because you get a good glimpse of the Doctor's PTSD and his guilt thereof, even though 12 knows he saved Gallifrey, he still spent countless lives thinking he hadn't, which still left it's toll, and Clara's reaction. In this scene Clara is seeing the War Doctor in him come out for probably the first time since the 50th, and she understands him more than anyone else there, so you can tell that she feels the same way the Doctor does, and that's pretty sad.

That's the thing about PTSD, it doesn't really matter if the doctor saved Gallifrey or burnt it from existence because he believed for so long that he was not only the last of his people but that he had destroyed them all. Certainly knowing that he had instead saved his world from destruction was a massive weight off of him but it still left a deep impression on him. PTSD affects you in so many ways and it's not something that can easily be brushed aside.

One of the great things about Wilfred is that even though the doctor is yelling at him and insulting him, he doesn't get upset with the doctor because he knows the doctor and knows he's angry at life because of the situation he's in and he's not angry at him. Instead he tries to make it easy for the doctor to kill him, and he's ready to die for the doctor and for the world

The one you included by Capaldi continues to be at the top of my list. Every time I watch it the emotions and thoughts are almost too much to bear. And I never, ever, get through it with dry eyes. It stands as one of the finest examples of script and performance, in harmony. A seamless and perfect fusion of intent and execution. It's a thing of raw and harsh beauty. I'm not sure I'll ever experience another performance that affects me as deeply and viscerally as this one.

That speech has to be in any list of best speeches from Dr Who. I've always had a hard time as seeing it as acting though. Yes, it was the end of Regeneration 10/11's time, but it always felt as much and more about the end of David's time as the Doctor than about the end of the Doctor's time in a particular regeneration, that it was, in fact, as much David speaking to the fandom as the Doctor speaking to Wilfried.

I think Capaldi had some of the best Doctor speeches of the entire show. Tennat was charming, Smith was fun and entertaining, but the older I get, the more I come to appreciate the depth of Capaldi’s Doctor. He stopped running away from all the hard memories and questions the previous Doctors had avoided and grappled with what it meant to be a good man and owning up to his past. He figured out a way to turn his pain into meaningful inspiration to help other people in their journeys. I absolutely miss these eras of DW

When Matt spoke he really put hid heart and soul into it, Stone-hedge, Rings of achateen, Demon’s run, I am the doctor & you are the Daleks, Spaceship UK, The rules, When the Doctor was me. bandiceet That was his point. Matt Smith was a hurt man who hid his pain from the people around him with jokes and laughter. This is also why it was so intense when he showed his inner feelings, they had been bottled up for so long that when an opening appeared the all exploded outwards at once, and these moments where were 11:th shined the most.

The new story makes the character a literal god that is infinity immortal, why? Because the director fucking sucks at writing, and should be fired for making the show drop from its standpoint. Just how many more will drop till they get it through their skulls, we want evolution of the doctor and his/her's companions and the story around them. To me, Akhaten will always be the one that moved me to tears. I had just had my heart broken when my wife told me that she didn’t want me to be her husband any more. I was broken and suicidal. I went to see my best friends and my goddaughter. We were watching this episode and I just burst into tears, holding a baby that I recognised that I loved more than life itself. The Doctors speech just moved me in a way I have never since. Even now, watching this, I am crying. But these are happy tears. They are the memory of everything that brought me here. They are my leaf. They are the path through the anguish, self loathing, rage and my heartfelt wish to die that encompassed me for years after, and continue to do so today. The Rings of Akhaten is the best episode Matt Smith ever did. Because it saved me. It made me realise that the most important love is of your existence. If you cannot love yourself, even if only for a millisecond, then you have lost. If you ever have these feelings, if you *ever* wish that you were dead, please, I beg you, get help. Talk to someone - I went to the doctor after I held a kitchen knife to my throat and glimpsed myself in the window. I still suffer daily with thoughts that plague my brain, make me feel that my life is not worth living. I am lucky that I have people that make my life worth living. Please. Get help.
