“You’re my daughter” - David says to his wife

Capaldi's war speech hits hard when you realise he's not trying to stop a war, he's trying to save the combatants from living with the cost of it.

"Good men don't need rules. Today is not the day to find out why I have so many." Two sentences that shows just how aware he is of what he could unleash if he so wished.

and this is why these three men will always be The Doctor to me. Tennant, Smith, Capaldi. you couldn’t rip the Doctor from their hearts if you tried, their performances were SSS+ tier.

I love how from the daleks perspective, the doctor broke universal laws of time and space just out of spite because they tried to dictate rules to him

pretty sure the best speech was: "Whatever you've got planned, forget it. I'm the Doctor. I'm 904 years old. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. I am the oncoming storm! The bringer of darkness and you ... are basically just a rabbit aren't you? OK, carry on. Just a ... general ... warning."

I wish they added the rest of 11th’s regeneration speech of when he was in the tardis. It always made me cry, especially “I will always remember when the The Doctor was me”

R.I.P Bernard Cribbins, the grandad to England. When Wilfred says goodbye to the doctor at the wedding breaks my heart every time and that was all of us when we heard about his death, waving him off. Godspeed.

The sacrifice Tenant made for Wilfred was so perfect. Wilfred accepted his fate but the doctor couldn’t bear letting his friend die.

Murray Gold deserves SO much credit for the music behind the Akhaten scene and many others… This man was the musical director of “Doctor Who” from 2005 to 2017 - he gave us the songs of Akhaten, the Ood, every intro song variation during that timeframe, the River Song theme… I cannot stress enough how important his contribution has been to this show 🎶💕🙏🏻

Anything that comes out of Peter Capaldi’s mouth is just gold.

“I’ve seen things you will never believe I’ve lost things YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND” hits harder than a semi-truck

I loved ten's speech to Wilfred. Literally every word he says is 100% true. Wilfred is just an old man close to the end of his life and ten could do so much more good with his life than Wilfred could possibly do with his remaining time. He has also done so much good that he has more than earned someone else sacrificing for him for a change. He also knows that he could never live with himself if he let Wilfred die for him.

I love the Akhaten speech because it carries a double meaning. "Oh, you like to think you're a god. You're not a god, you're just a parasite, eaten out with jealousy and envy and longing for the lives of others. You feed on them, on the memory of love and loss and birth and death and joy and sorrow!" It's so powerful because the Doctor understands that he is a parasyte, as well, and is speaking as much about himself as he was Akhaten.

Mat Smith regeneration speech *"when the doctor was me"*

When the Doctor realises the 4 knocks were from Wilfred, absolutely heartbreaking :'(

Capaldi´s speech is just different than the rest. The RAW emotion, the actual pain in his voice. I am yet to see a more impressive performance in a movie or show. Every time I hear that speech I start crying because he portrays The Doctor´s pain perfectly.

11's catch phrase was Geronimo but honestly he said "Well come on then!" a lot as well and I love it. 10 was out there being the on coming storm and 11 was the one that challenged everyone to come get some.

Number 1: Man has such severe PTSD that it causes a memory eating god to implode

That line. "Ive lived too long". He realized he overstayed his regeneration. He became timelord victorious, he forgot who he suppose to be, the doctor. He began to not care anymore. Its time he leaves. No better way than by the hand of his friend.

Eleven’s Akhaten speech always gets my eyes welling up with tears. Matt delivers the speech with such believable conviction behind his words, you can feel the Doctor’s pain as he relinquishes his memories. He is my favourite Doctor, because I see so much of myself in him.

Tenth was such a hero to me. Kind, just and will break the rules everytime to save someone...the only thing that could kill him could never be an enemy, but a friend. That's the thing about kind, smart people...they're never in danger of people who hate them, only the ones they love because the more you care the more you can hurt.

I swear Matt Smith was having a blast when he was preforming his regeneration scene on top of the clock tower

“I’ll always remember... when doctor was me.” -11th Doctor. This speech made me see his regenerations so differently, it should’ve been on here imo.

Seeing number 1 performed live with a choir and orchestra with Matt Smith’s speech reverberating in the theatre is an experience that still gives tears.

The 12th Doctors Zygon speech is so great, not only because you get a good glimpse of the Doctor's PTSD and his guilt thereof, even though 12 knows he saved Gallifrey, he still spent countless lives thinking he hadn't, which still left it's toll, and Clara's reaction. In this scene Clara is seeing the War Doctor in him come out for probably the first time since the 50th, and she understands him more than anyone else there, so you can tell that she feels the same way the Doctor does, and that's pretty sad.

Wilfred is a hero. He may have been confused about everything, but he stayed with the doctor, comforted him, and was willing to give his life to save the planet.

11 is an interesting doctor because he acts happy and goofy most of the time, but occasionally he shows his real feelings. He shows anger, self loathing, regret, and extreme sorrow. His personality is really more of a mask. Edit: Holy shit this is the most likes I've ever gotten.

I miss Christopher Eccelston, crazy and deeply sad, trying to run away from heartache and loneliness. No matter what .....his attitude was: The show must go on.... and smile!

"No-one else will ever have to live like this, no-one else will have to feel this pain! Not on my watch!" This gets me everytime, I've made this my motto of dealing with my abusive past

Tennant's final speech always gets me, doesn't matter how many times i've heard it. The 10th doctor was so full of anger, sadness and regret, he portrayed it incredibly well

What I noticed with Wilfred, is, I think, he came closest to a father figure that the Doctor ever had. The one who comforted him and was there for him when the Doctor needed a father who could tell him its gonna be alright...

Rory - " I have a message and a question...." imo - is the best speech ever.

Watching clip #3 still hurts. Rest in peace, Bernard Cribbins, you were truly incredible.

I love how most people talk about Matt Smith and David Tennants speeches. But no one really touches on Peter Capaldi's. His speech about how wars are all the same, they all end the same and there is no way to solve it unless we just talk nearly made me cry and still nearly makes me cry. It tells us about the truth of our reality. Even the fictional creation of a genius realizes it. So I shall just say, lets listen closely and lead by the example of the 12th Doctor.

'This is what I get, my reward. BUT IT'S NOT FAIR!' That line hit me. The doctor wished he can get more out of his bodies and his lives, wanting to be happy just for one second.

I know people get upset sometimes that Ten has such a dramatic speech about dying and how they hate his final words, but it's really perfect for him. He just needed someone to understand how he was feeling, all his friends were gone. I really love the look he gives Wilfred when Wilfred said to leave hi. He never would, he knows he never would

Matt Smith's "I've seen things" speech literally makes me cry and it's been years since I first watched it. The singing in the background UGHHH😭😭🤌🤌

Capaldi's Zygon speech, it's perfect. it shows apart of the Doctor that's ancient, aged and tired. Capaldi wanted to be the Doctor as a kid, but damn in my opinion he's either the only one, or one of the few who became the Doctor with his performances, others act, but he did something else entirely. I miss Capaldi.

Number 3: 'its my honor' In all his rage the doctor finally realised that it's his destiny to die there, and if he chose not to, he'd likely die soon after or not be able to live with the guilt It was his honour to save Wilfred, because if he has to die, at least he does it saving one of the best men he's ever known

That "SIT DOWN AND TALK," gives me goosebumps. That's what the world has always needed but will never do.

12's speech is so underrated. His take on war is spot on. When they fire the first shots they have no idea who is going to die. And then all the sides to a war will always have to do what they always had to do from the beginning: sit down and TALK. Absolutely brilliant and truthful speech.

The speech that they forgot on this list, is the one where Matt calls Clara on the TARDIS phone telling her to be patient with the new doctor because he's scared.

The third one is so heartbreaking. When The Doctor knows he's going to save Wil but every conscious fibre of his being is furious at his own nature. He wants to do so much more, fight against himself, but he knows he can't. He knows that if he leaves him there, if he leaves that one old, insignificant man to die, then he will never forgive himself. In the end, he never really had a choice. He's The Doctor. He's lived too long. And Capaldi. Oh Capaldi. Nobody channels emotion like him.

For a split second you forget that Tennant, Smith and Capaldi are acting during each of these speeches and that’s why they are incredible

"I've lost things you will never understand" still gives me goosebumps.

The best part? Jenny’s actor and Tennant are in real life married, and Jenny’s actor is also the daughter of Peter Davison, the Fifth Doctor. The Doctor is not only his own father in law, but married to his own daughter... *sweet home Gallifrey, where the TARDIS is blue!*

My favorite speech that isn't on here is the one that 12 gives right before he regenerates. I just love how he's completely alone in the tardis and hes giving all of this amazing advice to someone who he'll be in the future. And then everything that he says actually comes into 13's time. She follows each piece of his advice to the tee and its beautiful

The last clip ALWAYS gives me chills, don't know if it's the singing or something else, but I get shivers when I hear it - such a powerful scene

"I've seen fake gods and bad gods and demi-gods and would-be gods. I've had the whole pantheon. But if I believe in one thing… just one thing… I believe in her!"

Capaldi's "I do what i do because its kind" speech doesn't get enough appreciation. I find it beautiful because it tells you that it's not the result that counts but the effort. All these speeches are so beautiful, so brilliant. I wish the script writers got more credit :)

There are so many good speeches in Doctor Who. I haven’t had the ability to watch the old ones, but Ten’s speech in The Satan Pit, Nine screaming at the Dalek (and its response) and, he might not technically be a Doctor, but John Smith. John Smith, the human Ten who died so universes could live. Unsung hero. Heart wrenching, but so good.

8:22 It’s amazing how well David Tennet portrayed this. The Doctor is tired, and he is ready for death, and you can tell because of his tone and his expression!

One of the great things about Wilfred is that even though the doctor is yelling at him and insulting him, he doesn't get upset with the doctor because he knows the doctor and knows he's angry at life because of the situation he's in and he's not angry at him. Instead he tries to make it easy for the doctor to kill him, and he's ready to die for the doctor and for the world

“He will knock four times.” Boy that was so sad for Wilfred didn’t know it would be him knocking

The one you included by Capaldi continues to be at the top of my list. Every time I watch it the emotions and thoughts are almost too much to bear. And I never, ever, get through it with dry eyes. It stands as one of the finest examples of script and performance, in harmony. A seamless and perfect fusion of intent and execution. It's a thing of raw and harsh beauty. I'm not sure I'll ever experience another performance that affects me as deeply and viscerally as this one.

Peter Capaldi is just so good at ranting. His angry rants in the Thick of It are just legendary.

The zygon speech was what made Capaldi my favorite doctor

"Immortality isn’t living forever. That’s not what it feels like. Immortality is everybody else dying. She might meet someone she can’t bear to lose. That happens. I believe." "Look at you, with your eyes. Your never-giving-up. Your anger. Your kindness. And one day, the memory of that will hurt so much that I won’t be able to breathe, and I’ll do what I always do. I’ll get in my box and I’ll run, and I’ll run." “Don’t play games with me. You just killed someone I liked and that is not a safe place to stand! I’m the Doctor, and you’re in the biggest library in the universe. Look me up.” "There's this emperor, and he asks this shepherd's boy... 'How many seconds in eternity?' And the shepherd's boy says... 'There's this mountain of pure diamond. It takes an hour to climb it, and an hour to go around it. Every hundred years, a little bird comes and sharpens its beak on the diamond mountain. And when the entire mountain is chiseled away, the first second of eternity will have passed.' You must think that's a hell of a long time. Personally, I think that's a hell of a bird."

Capaldi is such a phenomenal actor

I remember the most incredible feeling I've ever felt whilst watching doctor who is the feeling when Wilfred knocked four times on the glass, it still makes me cry to this day.

Is it weird I expected the Van Gogh speech from the curator with the nice tie to be on here? I know it’s not a doctor speech, but it’s still one of the greatest speech’s in the series.

That speech to Wilfred always makes me tear up. I think the acting within that really touched upon the basic desire to live and what that means to give that up.

Twelfth doctor's war speech is so relatable, even to those who obviously haven't been in that situation you can feel how real the emotions are. Even when everyone else is silent, the silence in response to the doctor's words convey so much emotion.

RIP Bernard Cribbins. Hero of my childhood and idol to many, you will not soon be forgotten. 🫡

The fact that the speech at Stonehenge isn’t even a part of this list is a tragedy

Still think 11s first speech was arguably his best. “Hello. I’m the Doctor... basically... run.”

Wilfred is my hero. He stayed with him and comforted him until the end. I cried more when he said goodbye to the doctor than when the doctor regenerated.

It’s funny how the majority of the best speeches were written by Davis and Moffat. Absolute masters of screen plays that elevated Dr Who to legendary status. I so miss their writing!

The fact that matt’s regeneration was so powerful it physically ROCKED the TARDIS still gets me today.

"No one else will ever have to live like this no one else will have to feel this pain. Not on my watch." Litteral chills everytime i hear that line and I dont think that will ever change

I think Capaldi had some of the best Doctor speeches of the entire show. Tennat was charming, Smith was fun and entertaining, but the older I get, the more I come to appreciate the depth of Capaldi’s Doctor. He stopped running away from all the hard memories and questions the previous Doctors had avoided and grappled with what it meant to be a good man and owning up to his past. He figured out a way to turn his pain into meaningful inspiration to help other people in their journeys. I absolutely miss these eras of DW

The story with the doctors daughter was soo sad 😢 Tenants era really had me bawling a lot as a kid even Tenants regeneration 😫 I’m so happy he’s back as the 14th doctor 😭

Peter's speech couldn't be so accurate for what's happening now.

Honestly, I love all of these speeches and it's so hard to say any precise order for them but I honestly love Capaldi's speech so much more than the others. The depth and emotion and pain and just sheer point he was trying to get across felt so real, almost as if he was screaming it to the entire world. The only way to truly understand each other and move forward, sit down and talk.

I will never get enough of the Doctor reminding us how old he really is, the things he has done, and who he really is.

Capaldi’s speech was breathtaking, no music in the background, just raw, powerful, emotion

The classic series had its fair share of great speeches too. Four mulling over wiping out the Daleks, Six's railing against the Time Lords, Seven's "unlimited rice pudding" and of course One's farewell speech to Susan.

Honestly peters speech hit hard, honestly so powerful, one of the best speeches on doctor who, hands down. yeah davids speeches were powerful too but peters acting in it was just so passionate and sad, like damn.

I love how most of the fanbase seems to agree that the Rings speech is probably the best the Doctor has ever given, and yet... In the scale of things, that episode is incredibly minor. Just goes to show what they could do when they really tried

love how the actor who played the doctor married the daughter of an actor who played the doctor and who herself played the daughter of the doctor and who gave birth to a little girl who was literally the daughter of the doctor!

David and Bernard's scene makes me tear up without fail every time. The pain and angst 10 was carrying all came out at that moment, yet he still composed himself and did what he most likely really did not want to do. He put himself in front of everyone else all the time because he knew he would not be able to think about what could have been otherwise. That is the strength he had.0

To me, Akhaten will always be the one that moved me to tears. I had just had my heart broken when my wife told me that she didn’t want me to be her husband any more. I was broken and suicidal. I went to see my best friends and my goddaughter. We were watching this episode and I just burst into tears, holding a baby that I recognised that I loved more than life itself. The Doctors speech just moved me in a way I have never since. Even now, watching this, I am crying. But these are happy tears. They are the memory of everything that brought me here. They are my leaf. They are the path through the anguish, self loathing, rage and my heartfelt wish to die that encompassed me for years after, and continue to do so today. The Rings of Akhaten is the best episode Matt Smith ever did. Because it saved me. It made me realise that the most important love is of your existence. If you cannot love yourself, even if only for a millisecond, then you have lost. If you ever have these feelings, if you *ever* wish that you were dead, please, I beg you, get help. Talk to someone - I went to the doctor after I held a kitchen knife to my throat and glimpsed myself in the window. I still suffer daily with thoughts that plague my brain, make me feel that my life is not worth living. I am lucky that I have people that make my life worth living. Please. Get help.

Twelfth speech is the saddest for me. Imagine sacrificing his whole planet, his people for the sake of the universe.

I absolutely love the lack of music in the "Its my honour" speech, it just makes Tennant's rage feel so much more real, same goes for the Osgood box speech

I had such a hard time getting used to Capaldi as the Doctor cause his regeneration was so dark and coarse.... But his speech right here in the Zygon Inversion, it so cemented him as the Doctor for me. I still get choked up when I see this clip!
