Here in the UK they had already told us about the song but they kept secret that The Doctor and Ruby joined in. I was with a friend watching this episode and I'm told that I shot out of my seat and yelled at the screen, "he's singing!". OK I admit there was a swear word in there too. 😂

I absolutely love the 15th Doctor. Was already smitten with his amazing energy in the previous special (and I have to admit that it didn't hurt that he's absolutely gorgeous). But the shot of him dancing away in that tight tank top and the kilt has me absolutely head over heels. So excited about this season! ❤

It was a fabulous episode and I thought you would love it! Davina does a real show over here in the UK searching for families of adopted children with some episodes focused on foundlings. It's a very emotional watch.

I think I might have a new favorite Doctor, with this episode. He is electrifying. Usually, it takes a couple of episodes for a new Doctor to grow on me, even with my 2 favs Capaldi and Whittaker, both took a few episodes. Ncutti has already grown on me. And I got Clara vibes from Ruby too, not exactly, but that's who she reminded me of, just younger. And damn the Doctor's fit in this episode

This is honestly a really great episode. So fun, some great moments in the story, the performances and the music, everything was amazing! The performances from Ncuti and Millie are brilliant, and I love the campness of The Doctor and feeling like it is something I can relate to

I'm finally kinda caught up with Doctor Who (still watching the new specials with DT and Donna) so I can watch your reactions. Yay! I'm absolutely loving Ncuti as the Doctor.

One of my favourite eps as well, and I have been watching the Doctor since Tom Baker was traveling the cosmos with Leela and K9 I am so sold on Ncuti Gatwa’s take on the Doctor. I loved every character in this episode, especially Ruby and her family. I hope we see a lot more of the Sundays. And the connective way the 15th Doctor interacts with everyone. Sure, he calls them out for jumping on ladders and taking the pram out at midnight, but he connects with them. The police officer who is proposing. Mrs Flood. Cherry Sunday. Even if it’s just an acknowledgment of what they said, it is done with such vitality and warmth that you feel like he has moved out of the trauma of past Doctors. Looks like David Tennant happily ever after g with the Noble/Temple household and former companion Melanie Bush has done the old timelord a lot of good :) Happy Christmas and have a wonderful New Year, Andres El Rey

I saw the comment about the Sonic screwdriver being a compact mirror that you were referencing. You didn't miss anything in the show, they did a reveal on social media to showcase the new sonic. That person was just being homophobic I suspect, the fact that Ncuti identifies as Queer somehow means that he would have more feminine accessories SMH. Loved this episode and cannot wait to see where the show is heading to next.

I like the new sonic. It reminds me more of a game controller than makeup case. Made me wonder if he asked for tree hat design because he grew up with controllers for his games. :-)

I didn't like Ruby all that much, but we'll see when we get more episodes. I'd been trying to figure out who Ruby compares to and i think you nailed it - a more open younger ((at this stage) non-impossible girl blonde Clara. It this feels like a very good new Dovtor episode - just shy of the the third Doctors one that you haven't seen yet and the spectacular Eleventh Hour. introducing 11, Amy & Rory .... Speaking of which a behind the scenes clip was posted last year that seemed to show Ncuti & Millie having that same chemistry as Matt, Karen & Arthur which i think we're seeing on scteen. And hats of to Christina Rotonda the session singer who voiced Janice for the song - she's been playing a blinder on twitter/x over the last couple if weeks playing along in character 🤣

While not technically part of the 60th specials I see this as a nice epilogue to the anniversary. All four specials I really loved and felt like the energy and excitement that was lacking a bit throughout the last era had returned. 14 was written and performed so differently from 10 and 15 is incredibly delightful thanks to ncuti. Ncuti found himself as the doctor through his own experience as a refugee who escaped a genocide. Even capaldi gave an inspiring speech relating to ncuti’s experience after he was announced. This was a fun Christmas special though biggest flaw is some of the direction being a bit dodgy. How I would list the specials: 1. The giggle 2. Wild blue yonder 3. Church on ruby Road 4. Star beast

You and Ncuti do share many traits and vibes

The Kings broadcast was a televised address to the nation (like the Queen would do) similar to the President of the USA does. It's a pre-recorded thing at 3pm EVERY Xmas day & many older people watch it on Xmas day. "Strictly Come Dancing" 🕺🏻 💃 is what "Dancing With The Stars" is. DWTS is a direct copy of "Strictly" complete with the same, set & theme tune as 🇬🇧 & made by BBC Studios LA. It dominates the BBC One schedules on Sat nights from Sept-Dec & has forced "Doctor Who" to fit in either before or after it always! Strictly gets sometimes close to 10 million viewers & is a huge deal. For Doctor Who to be the 3rd most watched on Xmas day & similar for the specials shows its not dead & far from it. (dead would be 2-3 million watching live) There's a ton of vids saying Doctor Who is dead but they ALL fail to take into account the declining TV viewership in 🇬🇧 in general. DW is losing some viewers (no doubt) live but more stream & I wouldn't doubt use other methods. Nothing routinely gets 10 M viewers in 2023-.. & as long as it doesn't drop below 4 million I'm not worried. It will be weeks until Disney + reveal the streaming ratings for the Doctor Who specials but I'm certainly will be looking out for them. Here's to the 8 ep Season One/S14 + Xmas special in 2024! About the new Sonic Screwdriver: most people I've interacted with previously thought it looked like a weird cell phone or a tv remote. Personally I see no problem with it because there have been so many sonics over the years, so why not switch up the design a little more? The TARDIS was just feeling creative, and the last thing anyone should do is squash creativity.

I think Ncuti Gatwa (pronounced as Shootee) is a gem. He was brought up in Scotland and is a terrific charismatic actor. He has a queer sensibility and brings a presence of vibrancy to the role of the Doctor. I am exited to see the future of the series placed on his shoulders. I would give the Christmas show 11/10 as it went beyond what it needed to do. The figures you were looking at were just the BBC audience figures for the UK. I am sure the figures will zoom up further for the iplayer. Try looking at the Disney channel audience figures for the USA. Thank you for your critique of the episode as always its entertaining.

I loved this episode and love Ncuti and Millie in their roles. Excited for the new series. Regarding Mrs Flood, as i have said on other reactions: Pond-River-Flood? Lots of mystery being woven in this episode, setting up future storylines.

Well I think this was ace! The new dr seems to have a bristol axent which is a cool city in the uk don't quote me on that as am often wrong haven't seen anything else he's in will check though as he has fun energy!!

I would have a few "bad things" to say... it's really difficult to produce a "perfect" story. But overall I liked it quite a lot. But if I'm allowed a meta-comment: it's interesting to see how the reactioner who are more positively inclined to the show are using neutral titles, like this here, while the negative voices are all proclaiming doom and gloom from the outset. It seems outrage needs to advertise more. You, Sir, on the other hand do it very well. Give my best to your sister... you deserved that gold microphone!

I really liked the Church on Ruby Road. It was just fun! I loved Ncuti. I love that the sonic screwdriver has more capabilities. I loved Millie as Ruby. Ncuti and Millie have excellent chemistry. Ruby actually feels like a real three-dimensional person. I miss Russell's writing companions. I will say, it felt like Ruby was just totally okay with everything going on. I was waiting for her “WTF is going on” freakout. But that looks like that’s coming at the beginning of the next episode. She did say that it's all been so manic she hasn't had time to process and at the end of this episode she did do the “it’s bigger on the inside‽” without actually saying it. And it was awesome! I loved her mother and grandmother. I thought the song was a lot of fun and I loved that Fifteen improvised on the spot. However, once again, Ruby did not lose it at what was happening threw me for a bit. I honestly thought this was going to end with the doctor calling for Ruby’s bio mom’s attention like Twelve did with Bill’s mom. Kind of glad he didn’t. I figured there was something up with Mrs. Flood because of her reaction to the Doctor going in and out of the TARDIS but that fourth wall break really shocked me! And she mentions way back in her first scene that she hasn’t seen one in 50 years. They brought back “mavity” and I’m wondering if that’s a puzzle piece in the mystery box. I hope we see more of Ruby’s friends. And did anyone else really like that cop character? Questions: Who are Ruby’s parents? Who is Mrs. Flood? Why does she drop the bags in shock in the dark timeline if she knows what a TARDIS is? Is Mrs. Flood connected to Ruby’s parents? Is all of this connected to The One Who Waits?

One of the better theories online that i blundered into is that we are looking at the legendary Susan from the early B + W episodes, she hypothetically MIGHT be a much older & wiser version of William Hartnell's Doctor's granddaughter! Me, I began to watch when JON PERTWEE really urbanely strutted his stuff!

Okay my friend, I had to pause the video for a moment to ask you a question. Did you ever sing in choir? And if you did, were you an aAlto? I ask, because you sang "ding dong ding dong" for a moment when Carol of the Bells came on......and because I was an Alto all through high school in choir, and Altos always sing the harmony...or in Carol of the Bells we sing "ding dong ding dong" while the sopranos are up in the rafters with all their fast high notes. About the new sonic.....hmm...seems to me that when Capaldi was the Doctor he used sonic shades, not a screwdriver.

I'm pretty convinced that Ruby is either The Doctor/a survivor of The Masters attack on Gallifrey, or is a massive storybook character. With RTD saying The Toymaker opened up a massive can of fantasy worms because the rules of play are still active because of his legions, I feel like that's a great untapped bit to roll with; ala Cinderella or Gretel. The other theory I like is that the woman who left Ruby at the church is 13. Since we know there are now multiple versions of The Doctor out there, who's to say she didn't find a regenerated Time Lord at the end of Spyfall? Or that HER split didn't happen during the time she was being tortured in The Matrix? That said, Mrs. Flood has to be someone familiar with Time Lords but not necessarily The Doctor's M.O. Which makes me think of The Eleven, who's a sort of Jekyll Hyde Time Lord who can't keep their regenerations straight. She can have her eleventh face and personality, and at the flip of a switch completely turn into...say...her fifth incarnation's personality and mannerisms but still in the eleventh's body. The Eleven is right up there with Beep as an AMAZING non-televised villain that desperately needs to see the light of day as a TV character. And RTD loves taking non canon and making it canon, after all.

David Tennant 14 has his Sonic Screwdriver, 15 has a new flat sonic Screwdriver design, I see no problems with this it is just a new design, Collin Baker Doctor 6 did not have a Sonic Screwdriver he had a Sonic Lance which was flat and rectangular
