MIchael Hartline the fact that the creative team had more nuance for a returning show 13 years ago compared to the surface level series/season 11 shows how much better this one was.

I love how people who are so unhappy with Series 11 have to tell you, in any & every possible scenario they can, how much they hate the show now. You guys are like the vegans of the whoniverse. Also I'm not super fond of series 11 but still

@@hichaelmartline Why? People should be shouting it from the rooftops.Thats a good thing it should be encouraged not standing for an inferior quality every Series of the show should be just as good as the 1st if not more. The Current Series is bad, Writers who have literally no experience with Sci Fi, Some have never screenwritten before and it shows, The Writers were picked for the sake of diversity(Race, Religion, etc), not on the basis of merit. Its bad from an objective point of view. Sci Fi is HARD to write you need to really love it RTD spent most of his life campaigning for the show's return and most of the Early new who writers Kept the series alive throughout the 90s by writing novels (RTD, Gareth Roberts, Mark Gatiss , Paul Cornell to name a few) and fancomics. They know how to balance Real life Human Drama with Science Fiction. Some of these people have never seen Doctor Who a day in their life before getting the job and it shows. I want Doctor Who to be good again, we deserve better Writers, Companions and Doctors. We need to be selective about the Television we get.

Great episode. It has probably my favorite 9th Doctor moment. The speech he gives when he goes "who said you're not important?"

This is such a great episode. The Doctor and Rose really start to bond. They start the transition from being travelling companions to becoming true best friends. It IS a tough episode to watch but it's totally worth it. Rose shows that despite making a fundamental mistake, she can step up and not only help the Doctor but take over from him. She shows how tough, smart and resourceful she can be, whilst also showing her heart and compassion. We love!❤☺

I always adored Fathers Day as an episode but when I lost my own dad, it really took on a whole new meaning and levels of emotion. Were I in Rose’s position at the start of the episode, I’m almost certain I’d have done exactly the same thing. You’d give anything and do anything to be able to speak to them again, even if it’s just for a day, regardless of the consequences. It’s a beautiful episode.

This episode and the next two is what had me turn a corner on Christopher Eccleston's 9th Doctor. I didn't hate him at all but I wasn't really feeling his version of the Doctor. But something clicked with me about him in this episode. And of course the next two sealed the deal which made me say "Yeah. This is guy IS the Doctor."

Man this episode always makes me cry 😭 Literally throughout the whole thing I tear up, such a great episode and a fairly underrated one. Rose’s actions were so human in this episode, I would have done the same thing to save my dad. Again, fantastic reaction! It’s really nice to see reactions that get as caught up in the emotions as I did.

The cynic in me says family sucks. never trust them. they don't love you. they laugh at you and beat you at every corner. But now that I'm an adult, I've come to realize not all families are the same. And i'm genuinely happy that other people can have good and loving families. Knowing that made me a better mom when my turn came. ❤

Warning, if you're showing this show and specifically this episode to your friends, make sure they didn't go through something like this recently. When I was a teenager, I showed the first episodes to my friend and this episode broke her, I didn't know why. Turned out her father was a military MIA (which I had no idea about), and this episode opened a very painful wound.

Rewatching this for the umpteenth time, I think the Doctor was already beginning to be in love with Rose as early as this. There's no way he would've allowed this entire scenario with literally any other companion. He let her go back on her own timeline twice. He's a Time Lord. He would never do that under almost any circumstance for someone else. He was so defensive about the stupid ape comment, it was because he truly thought she was above the rest. His hopes and redemption were set on her right away.

Definitely a strong episode, this. Just my opinion, but if I were to change one thing, it would be to remove the monsters (officially called Reapers). The fact that time is collapsing would be enough, I think. Otherwise, great episode, and just as great a reaction from you both. Always a pleasure to see genuine reactions to this part of the show, the era I grew up with. Nine is my Doctor, and his season will always be the best of Modern Who for me. In a sense, that just adds more to watching your reactions. Keep up the good work 🤘

must say I prefer the Discworld's way of dealing with 'untimely' rescues...just keep on going as intended, leaving the rescuee to struggle making those around them realize they're still alive. :P at least until Reality(tm) reasserts itself rather pointedly. :)

12:40 - Nice sentiments and I would go spend time with my family, IF I had family. My mum died in 2012, dad died in like 2010 or so, my oldest brother in 2009 by a hit and run driver, my only gran when I was 7 and majority of my uncles when I was a teen. @@trunksGav I think that means Paula has the best sort of reactions to record, though. So many "reactors" just have cuts to a few laughs or moments of shock, and it really just turns into a review by the end. Paula and Katrina genuinely, actively *react* in their videos, and the fan/newb dynamic here actually works. I'm more used to someone in Katrina's position either remaining silent, or giving too much away.
