Quality of life is the key motivation for my efforts to treat my hearing loss and tinnitus. I have seen the effects of cognitive decline within my immediate family and hearing loss and genetics seem to be a common issue. Treating my hearing issues seems to be a factor that i have some control in the outcome. I do have other health concerns where I have no control of the outcome. Thank you for this video and you, the Hearing Up Network and my Hearing Up Network audiologist, C. Scott Frink, AuD for keeping my quality of life high.

I am a person who started having hearing loss beginning in 1996. Fast forward 10 years with either no hearing aids or low quality hearing aids and I was also struggling with cognitive decline as well as chronic depression. Then in 2006 I finally took the plunge and started wearing top tier Oticon behind the ear hearing aids and it was a life changer. This has SO much more going on beyond simply hearing better

Thank you Dr Cliff for the very informative video. I am 66 years old and have had tinnitus since my early 20’s. My hearing was fine but have noticed my tinnitus is much more invasive and also have hearing loss. I have an appointment to get a full evaluation on Friday and also will be getting hearing aids. As I live in New Zealand I’m not sure if they have best practices here? I am going to Specsavers as they offer hearing tests by qualified audiologists. They offer amongst other brands, their own brand Advance which apparently is comparable with other top brands but much more affordable. My husband is getting hearing aids also so we are very interested in how they will help. I’m hoping my tinnitus will be reduced.Thanks again.

Excellent discussion Dr. Darrow & Dr. Olson, especially for us who are non-profession in hearing problems or hearing aids. As a hearing aid patient for a long time now, on my fifth set this coming May 15, this has been one of the most educational and interesting discussion I have seen/heard. I was drafted a long time ago, and fired a lot of weapons during my 24 months of service, as the company armor. I am so excited to be getting a new set Starkey Genesis Signature Series (AI) (ITC - R) and Bluetooth with all new technologies. Have been listening to your pod cast Dr. Olsen for some time and have told many others about it. PS, any recommendations for Headphones (Brand & Model), over the ear, Sound quality, used for music, closed back, wired or wireless, to be used with my MacBook Pro (2021). Thank you.

I’ve worn hearing aids since I was six. I’m so glad that I started wearing them in 2007 when technology was getting better. My papa wore hearing aids long before I did and I guess he was always complaining about them. He ended up with dementia despite being treated for a hearing loss and I think it’s because the technology was terrible for so many years when he started wearing them.

Is it normal to get intense migraines when you first start wearing hearing aids?
@jcflamini
@jcflamini 4 ай бұрын
I work with some patients that have bad migraines in general so when I first fit them with hearing aids, I have them start out by using a wear schedule of couple of hours a day to start and build that slowly to full day wear schedule.
