Haven't watched much of the video but I got stuck where he said .."today is going to be a great day." Myy dad ,who would have been 97 used to get up every morning and say "it's a wonderful day today, the sun is shining ,the birds are singing...." And he never let us sleep past 9 o'clock😅 As a kid we used to cover our heads with our pillows and my sleep over friends thought my dad was crazy... But he was a brilliant man and knew what he was doing, I can still hear his voice in my head when I get up in the morning🥰

I can attest to this logic. I use to start having anxiety 1-2 hours before I would wake up every morning due to anticipation of what could happen in my workday. Reading Florence Scovel Shinn's "The Game of Life and How To Play It", I started telling myself during the pre-morning phase that, "Today will be a wonderful day, in many wonderful ways" and believing it. 😀

Not just lack of sleep, I'm also diabetic with all kinds of complications, and survived two unrelated cancers... lots of injuries, falls, car accidents, etc, as well. I know I'm unable to listen to this, but I just listened to another of Lewis' podcast. We are whole already, complete in satisfaction of the moment. We Know the truth it is only experiencing it that we seek. We feel joy in creating our lives in the unravelling of the divine. Healing has complete, how do you feel? I don't like to think in terms of good & bad, in fact if we could embrace duality as a whole and see the BIG picture. In fact we can and we do! Who is we? The collective mind, born from within- the projection of reality itself. We see beauty in that of our likeness. And from the big to the small, the energy transforms from one form to another, the formless remains the same.

I’ve been following Dr Amen since his first program on PBS, I have ADD & with his instruction & reading his books I discovered my type.. and because of my TBI I was able to understand my impulses & use this knowledge in my work as a Mental Health Crisis worker.. I saw many young teen boys with onset of depression, Suicidal thoughts, trouble in school etc.. I knew to ask these teens if they had ever had a head injury, or concussion .. many of them that was the case.. one young man who I saw several times, was medication resistant.. I told his mother to make an Appt at the Amen clinic in SF, long story.. it was miraculous!! He was no longer depressed & suicidal, he did well in school, got along with his family.. had a job & was on track to graduate.. & I was blessed that his mother came into the hospital months later to thank me

@@cindyshaver3432 oh wow. Thanks for sharing this experience. During my life I’ve been having 4 brain concussions. But the last one (4 years ago ) and I’m still with symptoms (loose my balance , short memory loss, the sensation of a clogged ear poor vision etc. Watching this video help me realize that probably I hit my frontal lobe and I don’t know what to do. I work as a housekeeper and my job is physically demanding and I need to regain my health. Also the doctor mentioned about your genes and how your ancestors behavior or mental problems affect you. My mother suffers from depression, my sister has schizophrenia, my son has ADHD and if I’m not taking Serotonin I start thinking about tragedies that “happened “to my love ones and start crying (tragedies that never happened) I am going to start asking myself the 5 questions and definitely buy one of his books to see if I can regain my mental health. If anyone can recommend me which one to buy that help me with my concussion symptoms I will really appreciate it. Thanks and sorry for my long message and orthography mistakes.

@@patriciahernandez5917 Before leaving a comment, do some research on this individual. The alleged DR. Daniel Gregory Amen has gotten the worst reviews I've ever seen. Nothing but 1 star reviews and testimonials by people who actually went to one of the facilities he opened. He has 9 locations if I'm not mistaken and there are no positive reviews. None! Just some old random 4 and 5 stars but no feedback or reviews. Anyone working for him can leave 5 stars.. Even gives you an option to write a review. I can literally leave a review even though I've never seen this man or his organization. There are some 4 star but nothing mentioned about their experience. So anyone can leave 5 stars and not write one word about their personal experience. Why is it that those who had a negative experience left detailed personal experiences, whereas the higher ratings, as few as they are and as old as they are say nothing. The most recent reviews are all negative. Reviews have warned " DO NOT USE - BEWARE, money grubbing shyster scam artist, sharletan, lacking credibility, Money HUNGRY, NOT AN MD, and more. One of his own staff left a review stating" very stressful place to work, lack of support from management team as well as staff making promises to staff and never deliver, His staff is accused of being the same.. Heartless individuals just looking to get the outrageous sums of money he charges.. 4000-5,000.. One of his staff made a disabled veteran spend the day in crisis and tears on veterans day of all days! I'm outraged! See for yourselves. www.vitals.com/doctors/Dr_Daniel_Amen/reviews

Interesting! I don’t think “toxic positivity” is the act of not thinking about future results. I understood it as something we inflict on others, when instead of listening and supporting them, we just blow them off with statements such as, “Look on the bright side!”, “It could be worse!”, etc. I’m only about 40 min in, so I’ll continue to listen as time allows.

I follow Dr. Amen on several platforms & have been a great admirer of his work. I must say, however, I found something about his scanning the brains of potential partners for himself, or his children, really off putting. Maybe I feel threatened by it, I have lots of trauma in my past that I have worked very hard to manage. Lewis, as always, I appreciate your good work.

Amazing talk! I am only half way in and I am learning so many things already! Thank you! I will listen to this again and take notes. Especially the thing he said about not every upcoming thought in my head being the absolute truth about whatever. THAT is so true! Also the practice of mental discipline. Very inspiring.

Thoroughly enjoyed this conversation and dialogue. What I do personally, is I equate my mind and thoughts to a battery. A car battery, phone battery, electronics battery- all have a positive and negative side. No action can occur without both acting in unison. They need each other to create activity and balance. Same with our minds.

One of the best interviews that I have came across. Everything explained in this talk from neuroscience perspective and how brain functions just got etched somwhere in my brain. Bookmarked this to refer back again and keep it as a reminder that its not when we are sick or in grief that I should revisit this talk but in normal days its essential to remind our brain that it needs to be healthy and well taken care of!

@@valarielacasse803 im trying to live over 120 years old with research from dr david sinclair in Center for Biology of Aging Research at Harvard Medical School its seems posible so i am starting young with fine tuning my life and adopting good and healthy protocols and life styles that will make me a beast even at 100 years old. well thats the objective for the future at least im close to intermited fasting where i have 1 meal a day and in weekends i eat 2 times a day to activate autophagy in my body. it was still a addiction for me that needed to go for a better future. thank you so much for story

The thing i found about processing grief is that when it is the 1st death of a loved one that you have had, every emotion & thought is confusing, is this part of grief? Is this not part of grief? Is this normal? It takes time to understand the dynamics to maneuver through it. My lesson was not to seek out ways to push it down because eventually it will still catch up on you. So take the time out to find quiet and peace.

So sorry for your loss 😞 My dad passed away many years back. What has helped me was to keep switching to gratitude. E.g. at least he doesn't suffer any more. At least before he passed, we spoke kindly and with care to each other etc. Practicing switching of focus from what is not, to what good is still there. I guess same as Dr Amen said - positivity bias applied to grieving as well. Great interview - thank you for sharing! 🙏
