The Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) was a children's hospital and research centre located on Roberts Road in Subiaco, Western Australia.
It opened in 1909 after twelve years of community fundraising and closed its doors on 10 June 201811. All patients were transferred to the newly built Perth Children’s Hospital in Nedlands.
I was lucky enough to find a contractor to help me take some photos of the inside.
Internal demolition had been ongoing for some time, stripping almost everything in sight. As a result, there really wasn’t much to see.
Even though I wasn’t too enthusiastic about urbexing this site, I felt it was important to photograph what remained before it quickly disappeared, in a physical sense. PMH has played a role in the lives of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of Perth people over the years and throughout many generations. Many foreigners from the Eastern States and tourists alike had also been affected by this place. Just like my mate, who was desperate to see the inside, which was made possible with my photos.
