Good short video. Doing this job myself, a few years ago on our 01 DGC EX. I ran into some issues that I'm sure you guys did too, but failed to mention. Like the inside of the dash has to be modified to fit the double din radio.

Would have liked to have seen how you put the top speakers in the dash. I understand you only have so much time and you don't want the video to be too long. But I was kind of looking forward to that part.

My Dodge Grand Caravan has a DVD player in it. Will any wiring harness for my Grand Caravan work for that? Or do I need a specific wiring harness since I have a DVD player? The internet does not have the answer! Do you guys?

I got 05 town and country. 6x9 on order as we speak but I'm gonna put a 6x9 box under 3rd row seat. My kids don't like it screaming at them in the 3rd row

Does the 05-07 Caravan (like the one in the video) provide switched accessory power for the radio? Some of the Amazon reviews for the Metra harness mention needing to run power from elsewhere, but I don't know if that applies to this model since the factory radio has a mechanical power switch.

Yes, it does. I bought the Scosche harness to use with my '05 Grand Caravan and it was perfect.

got a question, got the ddx9903s in my wifes carolla. when I use the steering wheel control to change the station, it only goes up from like 88.1, to 88.3. it doesnt go from programmed station, to the next programmed station. if i hold it down, it used to scan to the next available station.....not anymore. bestbuy isnt being helpful at all. is this stuck as is??

To the left of the HD logo at the top of the screen it will say either manual, auto 1 or auto 2. press it until it says auto 2

I'm running into a problem with the molded plastic inside the space where the radio goes. Stock stereo sits on top of 2 prongs that are in the way of a double din. Do I just have to cut all that out to make it fit?

Yes, cut it out. You can actually break those prongs off with a pair of vice grips, or simply cut out the entire cross brace piece as shown in the Metra instructions. It's made of plastic. I took it out with an angle grinder, but a sawsall would also work, but be mindful of all the wiring in there. Don't wanna cut the wires! There is also one additional pro tip that I can offer, having JUST done this installation myself, yesterday. The video host in this excellent tutorial states that he has to make the holes in the plastic radio mounting bracket wider so you can shove the radio over a little to the left in order to line it up correctly with the opening in the Metra fascia. What he doesn't mention is that there is a little plastic pin on the back side of that left bracket, between the upper and lower radio mounts. REMOVE this pin. Cut it off or file it off. If you leave it in place, it will prevent you from sliding the head unit to the left, because the pin will hit the metal mounting rail on the left side. I had to elongate the mounting holes in the left bracket by about 1/8". Finally, I suggest you remove the factory clips from the original fascia and use those instead of the clips that come with the Metra fascia. The factory clips are beefier and hold better than the Metra clips. Cheers.

I really took notice to the drilled holes because the "center console was jacked up" and it wouldn't align left or right. The rest was pretty much Radio install 101... What I would like to ask though, is just how much extra effort was there in getting that thing to line up properly. We know there is the "edited version" that becomes the video we see, and then the behind camera, 12 new Japanese words version as you attempt to get the "jacked up thing" to actually fit... ;) I am curious if you could elaborate on just how difficult it was to get the thing to actually line up. I saw that throughout the video, you re-put the center piece back up there 3 times, just on the video to try and make sure it was proper. Like you guys, I am a perfectionist! So if I tried to do this and it was even slightly off, it would drive me nuts! Thanks for the great video though, two things I learned from it. A.) Those speakers in the top are um, NOT speakers! LOL And B.) The speakers in the door must be carefully chosen as it will interfere with the window's actual framing structure.

I know this video is a bit old, but do you know of any options for a subwoofer that won't take up much space in the back? I've searched but not really found anything I like. Was hoping someone made a mod that would allow for a sub install in the passenger panel by the rear gate. Great video by the way. I'm going to be doing this but in a Chrysler T&C 2001 with the infinity system so I'll have to see what I need to do about the factory amp. It has an 8 speaker system in it currently that is factory of course.

It's called a fascia and it is available on Amazon for about seventy bucks. Metra seems to be the only ones making and selling it for these vehicles.
