Please can you explain how to delete my coolant resevoir on my '03 dodge ram and just install a conventional radiator and overflow such as the one in the video.

In 2005 i bought a ram1500 new 5.7 hemi ,first thing i did change the termostat to 180 deg , operating temp on these 4.7 and 5.7 is to high 210f it will blow your head gasket over time i have 205,000 miles on it now it runs like the day I bought it.

Themp sits around 186f on summer time in arizona , the only downside could be that it takes longer to warmup in cold conditions.

Heater cores leak on these dodges Also. If you smell in cab probably leaking heater core.

My 2003 is down right now because it blew a lower radiator hose on the interstate. It was building up with air until it blew. When I open the bleeder hole and have the radiator cap off, it has bubbles come out of both side and they never stop, I’ve tried to bleed the system for hours, it never stops. It’s like it’s building up air pressure internally. Also, when I fill it up with coolant, the thermostat never sucks the coolant down when it gets to running temp. But the flow of coolant is constant even when it’s cold, so the thermostat can’t be closed? I’m completely lost

Definitely sounds like you have a blown head gasket bud.

@@Justin-gl4lk I had my grandfather’s mechanic look it over, didn’t take anything apart, but said I don’t have a blown head gasket, but I still believe I do. One thing that might point to something else, is that I don’t have any water or coolant in my oil

Just try a new thermostat, make sure the pin hole is set the top. Might just be a bad thermostat if not your head.

How about the temp switch ? Can this be a sign of overheating ?

Seems it was. I replaced my theremostat, and issue persisted. I then replaced my temp switch, which seems to have solved the problem. My gauge would jump all the way to the right about having driven a mile, and my check engine light would come on.. I never smelled antifreeze.

My Dakota needed new fan clutch, water pump, serp belt, therm and gasket, tensioner, and properly burped with hex head socket. Never again. Keep up on your 4.7 Dodge V8 cooling system. Or you will drop a valve seat.

@@jumpertelecom3586yes .. I had a sludge build up and changed the oil sending unit.. it hasn’t done it again yet.. definitely keep your oils changed frequently

@@jumpertelecom3586I changed everything on mine radiator water pump and fan clutch thermostat too and this problem still persisted. Tienes put it was my coolant temperature sensor not engaging the electric fan.
