The Bank 2 Sensor 2 O2 sensor helps the engine control module (ECM) monitor the performance of the catalytic converter. By measuring the oxygen content in the exhaust gases after they have passed through the catalytic converter, the ECM can determine if the converter is functioning properly. If the catalytic converter is not working as it should, the ECM can adjust the engine's air-fuel ratio to compensate.
A faulty Bank 2 Sensor 2 O2 sensor can cause increased emissions. The OBD-II system may also trigger a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicating a problem with the Bank 2 Sensor 2 O2 sensor, such as:
