I doubt that anybody will ever see this comment, but if so then hopefully this helps, I had the same problem on my ‘97 Dodge Ram 1500, instead of replacing that piece that slides back and forth I took the small metal piece that the orange silicone piece sits on top of and cleaned it real good and put the silk cone piece back on and it sealed back off.

I'm amazed that there are more cars have that many miles on the clock these days and getting the most out them. My late cousin had a 99 f150 super cab and had 300k on the od by the time he parted with it. My van has almost 160k on it now and healthy. Awesome as always jay and thanks.

Seems like a faithful ol daily driver. I gotta 1991 f150 as my daily driver, has the same buzzer as your truck, also base model work truck, however mine doesn't even have A/C lol. Straight Six and only 131,000 original miles it's got some life left

Also Jay you spoke about heat not getting hot like it should. My temp gauge was show exactly where yours was showing after I changed the water pump but before I changed the pump the temperature ran correctly. So I will be changing my thermostat and hopefully that will solve that problem

I had vacuum at the control switch at the black line. And my orange silicone thing was waded up too.I have a part truck took it out of that truck and it works fine now. Thanks

I had an '03 Crown Vic Police Interceptor with the same type problem. The A/C would start off blowing great through the dash vents, but would become restricted as it ran, eventually the whole system would "stop up" and restrict. Not moving air through ANY vent position. I suspected a vacuum leak, but I never got around to fixing it. The engine started burning oil and puffing out black smoke, so I sold it.

Jay my ac works good and the heater works good and strong as well and it comes through the cluster bezel and dash pad vents in the passenger side of the dash and when I put the selector on the defrost position it still comes through the dash bezel and dash pad vents??!

So miss the days where the only thing that would break is a cable that controls heat and where the air came out at. I remember my dad's 75 f100 the cable broke to control the temp. Dad just wired it for the heat to be as high as it went. Then the blower motor switch went so dad wired it on high. Man plowing snow you didn't get cold in fact the truck had such a good heater I would have the driver's side window all the way down cause it would get too hot. When dad wired it the way he did it was just a plow truck he didn't drive it on the road no more so he wasn't spending the money on it unless he had to.

What would cause the oil pressure issue? I have 1998 s 10 with 148000 miles on it that is doing the same thing after I had an oil leak fixed.

Glad Dodge updated the air conditioning for the 3rd gens with new problems, like the blend door deep inside the dash liking to get stuck or fall apart and other problems requiring the entire dashboard being removed to fix. I hope I don't have to fix mine in my '05 any time soon, 210k miles and that blend door is still holding up somehow. I always try to shut my blower off before changing the airflow. They did remove the break away dashboards, what a shame.

Hey dude you have the same dash I have! LoL! As far as the vents I hold down my actuator lever down with a piece of wire to keep the front air vents open to prevent the blender door open in that position.

There were frame brakes interior many other differences between the 2nd gen and the 2.5 gen rams Oh and the movement to a full on yhe 2500 float axle in 99 making the tow rating 14k lbs and the 3500 at 16k lbs Oh and the move from 12v to 24v in 98 Only know this because of heavy research before buying my 01 cummins

Pretty much every dodge/ram has 2 generations within a generation. The 3rds were more body over interior, and the 4ths has a big interior overhaul from 2012 to 2013

Yep, early and late 3rd gens I call them. The years get weird cause they updated the 1500s a year before the rest. Think because of that in 2009 they sold the 4th gen 1500s and still the 3rd gen larger models.

I think you’re correct on that. I know 02 was the new 3rd gen 1/2 tons and 03 was the 2500+, even Chevy is guilty of that also. In someways the 5th gen rams are an updated 4th gen, the cab is basically the same as the 4th

at least its not like them sts caddies,,, that have the actuators to change and they break or you have one odd ball vent that blows cold air no matter what, I have to change a couple of them,, and they don't make it fun at all..

@@MXguy95 It must be an American climate thing. I never seen them, part like that down here. Do you guys ever get police cars at your salvage yard? I'm looking for a center console out of a cop car with the laptop pedestal usually they have a space for switches and a hole for a CB radio.i am Working on a Ghostbusters van and I need that unit out of a squad car and trying to also get a hold of door mounted searchlights.i have a roof light on the Van at this point and the body stickers and I've got the speakers for the siren just haven't put the wiring on yet.

@@peterparker6584 must be the chemical composition of the plastics U have there. MOPAR products in 1970's had their interior pieces like seat backs literally turn to dust due to heat and UV rays

@@gertraba4484 ivve seen plenty of them that are still in tact from the 70s and from the 90s..now i have a 2007 Dodge caliber and don't get me started about how underwhelmed I am by the build quality lol.i do believe this car could be the closest I've ever come to driving a beer can. I wish I was joking. I had no idea they produced anything with bawdy metal that thin sold in Nova Scotia. If not for the fact that stock to a magnet I would assume the vehicle was made out of aluminum any part of the body you put too much pressure on tBehaves much the same way as a woman of pop can..its no wonder so many of them are completely rotted away.mine for the most part is still in tact it just blows my mind that every part of the body is about as thick as the same material used for furnace trunking.it even makes this funny pop noise when you close the doors.u go out during any kind of a storm and you can feel the vehicle lifting up and trying to blow away.i dont have a preference between Dodge ,GM and so forth.but given most of my experience has been dodged caravans its literally made from metal thats not even half the thickness of the caravan..the truck you have there's quite a few of them roaming around here and I've never seen one with the dash like that so I'm guessing it's something you do with the American climate

The resin they used on the manufacturer of the dash was bad. This resin was tested by a company and found to last one to two years tops. Their was no recall on the dash because not enough complaints were maid to make a recall. Some of the same resin was used up until 2012 before they changed. I work around resin and plastic at different times. Good luck to guys that have the dash still intact.
