Yep, White's line fault and sudden death were not in the original cut. Instead, Peter is eliminated, Globo Gym celebrates, and the movie just kind of ends. It's not often that I feel like the studio interference got it right, but they definitely did here. The original ending just falls flat and it's a complete tonal lurch from the rest of the film. It's hard to justify a 'realistic' ending when there is nothing real in any of the rest of it!

Hasselhof was so famous in Germany (West, then) that after the Berlin Wall was opened Nov.8-9, 1989 (I was studying in Europe, Luxembourg, then) at New Year’s, David H’ was put on a lift at the Wall to sing a song about “Freedom” to the assembled party, with fireworks. I was really befuddled, as an American, watching it on tv -Germans partied, the Wall was open, it’s history.

The commentary at the end with Ben talking to the camera was because the original ending saw Average Joe's lose. The test audience rebelled and they reshot it. You're about as useful as... is one of my all time favorite movie quotes. Missy Pyle Needs to be better known. She was also the only female Thermian in Galaxy Quest. She's been in things where she looks normal, but she's tragically underrated as a character actor. Another Ben Stiller movie in this line is Mystery Men from around 1998. No explanation, no hints. Just watch it.

A couple of fun facts about this movie: Ben Stiller broke three cameras in succession filming one scene, and even hit his wife Christine Taylor in the face once. In an interview he said they drove home together and that it was a very awkward moment between the two. According to many cast members, the hardest part of filming the dodgeball scenes was not flinching when they knew they were about to be hit by a ball. One of Dame Helen Mirren's favorite movies, according to Rotten Tomatoes. In the scene where Peter walks into his hotel room and White and Me'Shell are there waiting for him, White says, "¿Donde está la biblioteca Pedro?" In Spanish, it means "Where is the library Peter?". Of the 32 teams in the Las Vegas Tournament, 16 were identified by name or shown in competition. They are: Average Joes, Globo Gym Purple Cobras, Flying Cougars, Team Blitzkrieg, Kamikazies, Skillz that Killz, Las Vegas Police Department, Lumberjacks, M.I.L.F.S., Moose Knuckles, Clown Punchers, Mulchers, She-Mullets, Wedgies, Yetis and Pouncers. Dodgeball 2 has been confirmed and is currently in development.

Both are loads of fun, if you haven't seen them I highly recommend them. Josie is the one you've probably heard the least about. It's not what I was expecting at all. Fun fact: 16:30 when Justin is getting absolutely smoked by dodgeballs from the pitching machine that was real--in that they had it cranked up for him and he was just getting pounded. When Vince showed up for his filming of the scene they fired like 1 at that speed and he put his foot down (perhaps given the star power) and had them slow the machine way down. He had no idea Justin had been absolutely eating dodgeballs prior to that. You can see it in the speed of the ball Vince catches vs the zero-arch heaters bouncing off Justin!

The weird thing is that Average Joe's Gym was originally supposed to lose the tournament (you can find the clip on youtube), but the studio had them change it because it was such a bummer

What makes the awkward interactions between White Goodman and Kate Beach so hilarious is that Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor are married in real life.

You're awfully confident about being completely wrong. This movie came out in 2004. Stiller and Taylor were married in 2000. Easily verifiable. So yes, they were absolutely married during the making of this movie.

(they were also married for Zoolander. The only thing they did together before marriage was a unaired pilot called Heat Vision and Jack with Jack Black and Owen Wilson)

I have a theory that ben stiller actually plays the same character across a couple different movies but because he keeps failing he has to keep changing his name. Because if you haven't seen heavyweights that movie has him playing the same guy basically and his dad is super rich as well.

Christine Taylor, the lead actress, is Ben Stiller's wife. They were in Zoolander together, which is maybe Ben Stiller's funniest movie. It's not for everyone, but the people who like it, love it.

Its funny you mentioned the taxes because i always say that in these type of movies. I know its obviously a movie and they dont factor that in, but in reality, they would still be pretty short after the taxes.

Definitely should check the movie, Heavyweights. Ben Stiller plays the "villain" haha. His character in Dodgeball, I believe, is based off of that. Good movie.

For an underappreciated Ben Stiller film, it has to be Mystery Men, it's like the Avengers if they were really lame.. As for a random film to suggest, Watership Down from 1978. Honestly, I don't know why it never crops up on reaction channels, but it's one of those films where the (slightly) older generation wonder how modern audiences will react to this kid's film. It's got bunnies.
