How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a KZfaq channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

Suggestion: I saw a KZfaq video of a farmer that would clean the net-wrap off his beaters by burning it off. Are you entrusting your spreader more? It seems like you're loading it heavier than you usually do.

If found that using a reciprocating saw blade cuts the net off of the beaters as good as anything. Just remember to wrap a rag around where you hold it. The saw can damage the metal, but blade in your hand doesn't. 👍

Still loving the spreading videos. You do a dam good job at filming it all and stitching it all back together.. Question. Not farming related could you video that Island that moves every year that's in your area it needs alot of boat owners to push it back away from the bridges. Just a thought: wouldn't the nitrogen in the manure help break down the residue better over the winter, rather than in the spring? I have spread liquid 💩 on cornstalks in November, and they broke down better than stalks I didn't spread on. So much difference, I had to disk the latter. Great video, doing voodoo with moodoo!😂

Cole did a great yield test intercroping beans and corn for end row yields. If you can grow hay intercropped and rotate soybeans corn on the strips. With hay you can harvest before combine runs over beans and he saves the much larger input cost reseeding alphapha as needed. He plants higher populations on outside rows. 300 bushel. Especially the home farm getting the extra bedding spread.
