You'd be pretty damned to know how many stupid people with driver licenses don't know that, which is why you'll still see ridiculous disclaimers like that. I mean for Christ sake, who the hell is gonna ever drink car battery acid? I might as well throw away every owner's manual made for every product manufactured post-2020.

Just cruise and don't press gas and when you feel car slows down just press the gas slightly. It saves gas than aggressively pressing the gas.

When I use eco mode on my fifth general RAV4 and I have also observed and learned that I can optimize my fuel economy on the highway, by not going faster than 65
@yarikfreerunner12 ай бұрын
Try going 56 or 57 and see how much more you cam save. The difference on my 2016 Sonata was 84 miles per tank. The best was 152 miles per tank more. When going in the 50s the wind resistance decreases and you are squizzing out every dime out of your tank.

Eco Mode is best used when travelling long distances on the freeway at a set speed.
@willb36362 ай бұрын
No. If eco mode only changes transmission shift times and makes the gas pedal slower how would cruising at a constant speed include any of that? What would eco mode be doing differently if you’re cruising on the highway?
@alexc50872 ай бұрын
@@willb3636it probably doesn’t push the car as hard and quickly to maintain that constant speed, imo if that makes sense. I’ve at least noticed a difference when driving on the freeway. Might be super subtle but may add up
@brandonczwАй бұрын
Total opposite, eco mode is best used in the city as it alters your transmission to shift earlier. On highways your transmission is likely already in the highest gear

Eco mode should only be used on highway when you driving at consistent speeds. It’s annoying when you trying to speed up or join highway lane.
@harrychildress45752 ай бұрын
I’ve been checking “the old fashioned way” by tracking the miles from a fill up to fill up. You should do the same . They claim one thing and your results could be quite different. The claims for the “auto stop/start” is mild to begin with, and when you check manually you will, like I did, find that the “stop/start” isn’t a game changer. I think it’s (stop/start) really “wishful thinking”. You add up the lack of significant mileage improvement, with replacing the starter more frequently, or a “second battery, will likely make the stop/start less attractive. With all,the performance enhancements like “turbocharg” the engine may need to run longer to “cool down”.

My car is rated 27mpg but i always beaten that to 30+ by switching to Eco mode and following every speed limits
@riveroneone2 ай бұрын
Eco mode should help save some gas in stop and go local driving unless you have a lead foot since it reduces the throttle response. It shouldn’t make much difference at constant highway speeds. Has is mostly wasted (most energy consumed) during acceleration. Slower acceleration equals less fuel used and better economy.
@coby5332 ай бұрын
So in a standard transmission where I shift myself???
@ehsanull19 күн бұрын
On my hybrid Camry, freeway driving mostly with Uber and Lyft. Eco I get 50 mpg and normal I get 46 mpg. So it does help, but you have to understand with eco you can’t floor it like usual.

Had a Chev Malibu rental when this tech first came out. It was a real pia to drive and drove me nuts! I have to wonder how hard this system is in tje engine and starter? If the starter is kicking in every time to restart that mass to be a strain on it and reduce its lifespan. Take a high end car in for a new starter and there goes any imagined savings on gas money.
@ryanespinoza72972 ай бұрын
Why would the starter be engaged? This isn’t start/stop that turns the engine off when you come to a complete stop. It’s just a different fuel map for the computer that gives less throttle response and shifts sooner.
@whatskrakin372 ай бұрын
Depends on the car really, my Sentra’s eco function doesn’t change throttle response or anything, it just shows a bar on the screen to show you how much throttle you should apply
@flightgearHDАй бұрын
Really depends on the car, some force a real eco mode, which eliminates fuel while coasting, and prevents mashing of the gas pedal, graduaul acceleration and very conservitive shifts.

Basically a lot of modern vehicles with a eco button basically changes the tune in real time this has always been a thing as long as your vehicle was a certain year a good example of this would be the 2003 gm duramax vans and trucks with a tool you can install a switch with several tunes you change to and set what you one so you can get a "eco" mode really all your doing is changing the shift points and throttle response but also on a diesel you can do more and sport on a vehicle with it just sets the change gear rate higher trucks have been doing this even longer any truck,suv or van witha trailer icon essentially already has this mode and certain models of 90s gm vehicles had this so its existed for a very long time its just becoming slowly more common in more and more vehicles seriously if you have a old gm truck,suv or van and do not know about this press the trailer button it will do that

Depends o. Your situation. Eco mode on reduces HP and torque response. If you have heavy load or more than 3 persons in the vehicle or the road is inclined or mountainous, eco mode is not recommended since you will step on the pedal more or use lower gears often just to compensate the delay(torque response) or lose of power made by eco mode. This is what I have concluded so far in my car based on experience(since it records mileage on each travel) ...Eco mode on... Full passenger + heavy load = 13.7km/L 1 or 2 persons + light load = 24.1km/L highest mileage City drive = 12.6 km/L ...Eco mode off... Full passengers + heavy load =15.9 km/L 1 or 2 persons + light load = 19.1 km/L City drive = 7.1 km/L
