I also think the causes are countless. I just shared the luck I had. Also, each person has a different plant based diet. I work with for other vegans and each family eat something different from the other on a daily basis. We gather ever 15 days and bring food to share and it's always very interesting because we try foods we don't eat in our own homes. Vegan diet can have a lot of diversity, and that plays a role in how our body responds to it. The only think I can say is: Finally!!! having dandruff was a pain in the arse LOL It would be nice if there was a test people could make and find out why each one develops it.

Mateus Brazil how long, after going plant based, till you noticed dandruff going away? I don’t eat oils or high fat and I’m vegan and eat broccoli and leafy greens every day.
@mateusbrazil9487
@mateusbrazil9487 6 жыл бұрын
It took me 4 months! I eat low fat and no oils as well. The only thing I suspect (again, I'm not sure) is the 1/2 teaspoon of tumeric and the 2 tbs of ground flax seed I added to my oatmeal every day. I don't use tumeric that much anymore because I became too yellow around the mouth (it was very weird and noticeable). I switched it to ginger powder, and keep the tumeric only twice a week. But I'm not sure that was the cause, I added it because I liked the exotic flavour and was hoping it would keep cancer away, so I could live until 140 years old. Getting rid of dandruff was an unexpected benefit and I loved it.

So, I've been using a tea tree oil shampoo by Shea Moisture and also applying a tea tree oil infused vitamin e serum ( that I made) to my scalp for dry scalp while also, increasing my daily Omega 3 fats with walnuts and flax and have seen an improvement. Hannah Ruthy Me too! I had no idea what was wrong with me lol. Just search up vegan dha supplement nested naturals. I buy it on amazon. It’s 24 dollars, I’m pretty sure you can buy a cheaper one but it comes with 60 capsules. Basically some people can’t convert the ala that well. I didn’t think it was me but it doesn’t hurt to take it. Dr micheal Gregor even recommends it just to be safe. The algae is where fish get the omega threes from. I’m not even exaggerating after one day my dandruff went away and my hair wasn’t dry anymore. I’m 17 and I always thought it was weird I have dandruff my whole life.

It's quite puzzling; how is it that a topically applied treatment works in vitro, but not in vivo. Side note: I've gotten rid of what I presumed was oral trush before, by using a water solution of the Tea tree essential oil. Toothpaste and tongue scraping helped a lot, but it only went away completely when I used the Tea tree oil solution.

I have used straight tea tree oil for athletes foot [applied very sparingly with a q-tip] and got rid of it in a few days. Tea tree kills everything! Also great for a small skin infection [cut, etc] Not surprised that a highly diluted solution isn't very effective.

Shari T I thought the exact same thing. Bummed that they tested a weak dilution, found it didn't work, and then the conclusion is that tea tree oil doesn't work for tinea. I apply it undilited as well and it clears up athlete's foot really quickly. I've used Neem oil (undiluted) as well with great results.

Dr. Greger, these recent videos on dandruff and athlete's foot seem to be somewhat inconclusive. In your other video, you mention the non-English study that found a correlation between low circulation, and the fungus responsible for athlete's foot. Could the same be said for dandruff (i.e., an underlying health condition)? I am not surprised that the scientific literature is suggesting athlete's foot may be more than just fungus. Now that I think about it, the times that I've had issues with it were times that I was quite stagnant in my day to day. Regarding dandruff though, what is the cause and treatment for it? Thanks! Keep up the good work.

Too bad the conclusion is tea tree oil doesn't work on tinea pedis when they didn't even properly put it to the test. A 10% tea tree oil cream is not the same as undiluted tea tree oil. No wonder it didn't work. Whenever I get tinea I put tea tree oil neat on my feet and rub it to cover the soles of my feet and between the toes. Clears up right away. DOSE MATTERS!!!

When you continue to take melatonin supplements over a long period of time, because the hormone is being introduced to the body while not requiring the body to make it, the body will gradually drop its natural production until you are effectively dependent on melatonin supplements to fall asleep.

I also do have flare ups when I am super stressed but no were near as server as they use to be so it's not silver bullet , it was chronic for me I had it from 15 up until 27 and that was everyday of the week it was quite painful at times. I think the added chemicals put stress on your system and your natural Biome and when you remove them it gives them chance to fight back I have also stopped using soaps as well unless utterly necessary i know what people are going to say you probably smell all the time funny that i use to also suffer from mild case of body odder at times this has dissipated also. So less stress on the system(My body) = good skin and body Oder This worked for me and not saying it will work for everyone but worth try I was at my wits end when I came across this information and it works for me so give it try what have you got to lose.

interesting, I haven't heard this before. I'm fair skinned with blue eyes and blonde hair (the dark hair in my profile pic is only b/c I dye it- I'm naturally blonde) and I have been using liberal amounts of 100% tea tree oil on my feet for years without any issues. Guess I got lucky. I had a really bad reaction to even a diluted application of oregano oil though- skin burned and looked like I got scalded. You could try Neem oil; it kills a lot of things and isn't an essential oil (it's a pressed oil) so it's not nearly as strong as an essential oil like tea tree or oregano.

Tea Tree oil can burn the skin. I usually put about a tablespoon in a regular shampoo bottle, and use it for a period. Too much use and I find my skin drying out. The drying out of skin factor maybe good for athletes foot though. I rarely get foot odour as I wear leather boots.

Dylan T, Look up this, it definitely kills a lot of skin/mucus conditions (and these three too), there is a great amount of photo evidences of people that used it on Facebook page. It's called the Ruffini Method, it's basically a topical dermatological treatment of Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) between 6% and 12%. There is a website and Facebook page dedicated to this method. Also, I posted a more detailed comment under this video, that explains it better, but the same information can be found on the website, I copied, translated, and pasted the information from the website to here. Check out, try it, and let me know how it worked for you. Any questions, let me know too.

Dylan T, Let me know if you read the message. There is a gallery of before and after photos from people who used it, in the Facebook page. Hope it will help you to get rid of fungus.

isn't that bleach? I was able to fix the toenail fungus and athlete's foot by changing my shoe type and using some OTC stuff for a short time. I have seborrheic dermatitis so I use a zinc based shampoo once per week or two. When I ate dairy it was really bad.

The only thing that ever helped me was fasting and a plant based diet. I tryed everything for more than 20 years. And the last 8 month's everything changed for better....

Increasing fat intake worked a little for me, but I still have dandruff!

I had dandruff for all my life. And I’m only 17. I had dry hair. When I went vegan it got worse. And I didn’t know why. But then I decided to take a dha and epa algae supplement and it went away. Literally in one day my hair is shiny and I have more energy. Idk why my body wasn’t converting the flax or walnuts. So just try it if you have the same problems I swear I’m not lying

Wow I was just wondering about this earlier this week. I was recommended tea tree oil to soften my hair and moisturize my scalp to prevent dandruff. Awesome video Dr. Gregor!

best dandruff fixers are: -no fructose/sweet stuff (stevia is okay in this context) -no starches (yea i know...hard to do as a vegan right) -no caffein baverages (they make u feel dry....regardlss of what the research said that greger showed like 10 days ago...its just how it is) -plenty of hydrating food / water -good food combining

sooooooooDark how about psoriasis, any ideas how to treat it?
@sooooooooDark
@sooooooooDark 6 жыл бұрын
well i havent had the stuff but since its a skin issue and seems to relate to vitamin d and vitamin d relates to magnesium id try topical and internal magnesium supplementation but oh well...everyone is deficient in that stuff so that suggestion is a bit meh, right? ;p it looks a bit fungally so probably staying away from stuff that ferments, like vinegar on food or fodmaps (and certainly sweet stuff as mentioned before) could be good check ur body water % and see if its 15%p or ull lose libido and look like vegans do (weak af), the 0.8gP/kg suggestion is wrong

sooooooooDark thank you. I am also vegan but not raw, I also don’t drink enough water which might add to the problem, actually most days barely a glass of water which is my fault. Im going to try to cut back on any sugar I have and drink way more, I think that’s a start and see how that goes like u suggested :)

yea the cooked foods are very dehydrating, i dont exactly know why it seems like the body requires more electrolytes to process cooked food/starches than processing fresh water rich foods which lead to electrolyte loss and with less electrolytes in ur system ur body cant hold onto "enough" (whatever the magic number may be) water then - and then gets dehydrated af (eye slime...dry skin..."not so fluffy" stool...etc)

I have psoriases before I was 1 year old. Became vegan 4 years ago and it improved so little. Then, after seeing the crohn , hidradenitis supurative ( I guess that is how you spell it) and yeast correlation, I thought, maybe Psoriasis is the same. I stopped eating anykind of thing with yeast ( I still eat gluten, but my bread has a chemical leavening agent now) and my psoriasis is almost gone (It has ben 3 weeks). I'm never eating yeast again in my life!

All of these antibacterial or antifungal agents are a bad idea as it just creates drug resistant strains anyways. They damage the good bacteria. The foot fungus needs moisture so wear very breathable shoes, clean socks.

The Artificial Society, There is something that doesn't allow them to build resistance, just straight burns them/it. If you need, do a quick search this comment section for my comment(s), I mentioned it already. Let me know.

Liam Gutierrez Because there is nothing in a true vegan diet (minus all the processed crap out now, and desserts) that will clog arteries to the heart or penis like animal products do. If you have limited blood flow somewhere, it is everywhere. Any problems down there for a guy is the canary in the coal mine sign. Real men eat plants! Lol.
