There's definitely a problem, though I do sometimes wonder why women tend to post pictures of their models with them in the background showing off their cleavage, since it tends to draw more hate from creepy dudes with the typical "you are only in the photo because you want the attention". I know a woman that plays 40k and she refuses to add herself to pictures for that very reason.

Yeah I agree, there is definitely a second side to this. Those comments are super weird and I wouldn't dream of leaving one like that. On the other side, I wouldn't dream of having my shirt open like that (and I am a dude) and I would expect that the comments would tell me to stop being a weirdo and button up my shirt if I posted a picture like that

Gotta be honest, that sort of cringe is why I was hesitant to get into the hobby in the first place. That said, to be fair, I recently had to unsubscribe from a woman who creates "hobby" content because it morphed from legit hobby content into ads for her OnlyFans. (Not Kya! engaging in the 'debate' and being the devils advocate; lets be honest - my first question is, why are u showing your face on discord (why as in what is the objective, is it worth the risk)- posting personal pics (with face) on a public discord is neither common nor .. wise. Even on small, discords (maybe a guild discord for a raids in videogames - with a crowd you know fairly well and have engaged with most people on the server) I as a man would think atleast twice before posting my face (doxing etcetc..). Considering this, and admitting that women might be more prone to engaging in society through approval, I would, with a certain degree of certainty consider, that anyone posting a personal pic, is seeking, to a certain degree, consciously or unconsciously approval/notoriety. Now, regardless of the content posting to a crowd/public subjects you to the crowds judgement. Asking 'the pub' to 'keep it in their pants' while reasonable is not in the cards. Just me?

1) Social media is a drug. It is designed that way. This video proves one thing above all: women can't handle being online if they're looking for affirmation. Let's simplify: the online world is not the place to look for affirmation full stop. Advice, yes, different perspectives, without doubt, criticism, certainly, but affirmation? No. The question isn't should broken men behave better (yes of course they should, but we can't change that), it's should people be looking to the internet for dopamine spikes. What kind of person posts personal photos online, photos of themselves or of things they care about, for responses from strangers? That is maladaptive behaviour. Expecting the responses to go 100% your way is just delusional. You're expecting too much of people. Don't engage with it in the first place. If you want people to respect you; show your work not yourself. If you want people to disrespect you; show yourself not your work. 2) If more boobs in the hobby IRL means the mingerfication of female miniatures, I'll take the battle babe minis and you can leave your +1 at home. But I'm married and have been with the same woman for 18yrs, so what would I know about it.

Man.... I assume everyone in the hobby knows more than me. I'm still extremely new and can count the amount of games I've played on one hand that's missing a few fingers. I've had a lady accuse me of pretending to be stupid cause it was the first person I had met claiming to play this gang in necromunda. I kept asking real specifics about the way they play and stats and she started accusing me of trying to fish for info to correct her on. And when I kept responding to any of her answers with a "whoa thats interesting" or "how does that work?" She started to look annoyed and accused me of being sarcastic or like I was doing baby talk like I was talking down to a child who showed me some trash but I was being nice not to be mean and didn't actually believe any of the compliments or whatever I said. When the cashier started telling me about a necromunda campaign(I had not played anything by this point merely started painting my models and looking for anyone who wanted to play) she loudly perks up from the back of the store mid conversation with two guys to go "I WONT BE PLAYING IN THE CAMPAIGN IF HE IS" only for the two dudes to turn and look at me with some of the most hateful looks ever. The worst part was the cashier dropped it and when I asked when it was, the three made a big huff just turning around like they were waiting for his response more than I was. The cashier didn't answer and just handed me my receipt for my first pot of nuln oil. I was already so embarrassed and shot down I would've tried to return it if I wasn't in such a hurry to leave after that.

Here’s the thing , over all , our society , all over needs to support each other. People in this hobby can be overly creepy or even socially awkward or both. Doesn’t need a woman for that to happen. Help each other , show the proper path to your brothers and even sisters and we will be better off for it. Be the light and change you want. That said lots of lonely , hopeless guys out there and mostly women don’t have that level of similar despondency. Mostly women will always find a guy , guys lots of them especially awkward ones are totally alone which is why so many delete themselves. That’s not the only reason but one of them for sure. So I try to be understanding and teach the right way to be that light you want to find. I am sorry for women who feel this way, I’ve never seen it personally but I’m sure it happens. Just be good to each other and teach the less fortunate. It’s a rough world out there , especially when you’re all alone. Edit: Over the net you’ll always find worst case scenario. Never will you find a more wretched lair of scum and villainy. You can’t judge that as the hobby at large honestly.

Speaking of social awkwardness, work at a local game store, it isn't uncommon for me to have someone come in, I say "Hello! Can I help you?" have them give me a blank stare, say nothing, stand there for a moment, I repeat "Can I help you find something?" then walk into our game room, while continuing to say nothing. At first I thought I was having a stroke and imagining the whole thing, until someone else observed it and remarked about it lol

As a tie in to you point about the say Egirl aspect. I think thats quite true at times, as its like back in the day on twitch. Before just chatting existed and you'd have those types where the game play sometimes prerecorded while live streaming or their face cam is the full screen while the game is a tiny window. I think it just sends of the wrong imperssion. Like say you mr north I don't know what you look like and nor do I really care its the content I'm here for. As a mini painter even if I am really proud of a paint job I have done the Mini is what gets the attention I don't throw myself in there. I think is is just apart of what is masculine and femmine behaviour trait wise. Not case by case obviously just broad stroking and that as you say can make people uncomfortable. Then assume the worst because for them its hobby first, but a shared picture feels like your making you the important element. Which to a point is fair. But also if im here to see the mini's I don't nessecacrily care about you. 15:34 Honestly I'd want to see an example (and haha not for that reason) but like how far are you going to make that noticable. I.e tight skimpy clothing is going to attract that kind of attention no matter what. But if these are pictures of your mini's why is your arse the to begin with lol. I am apart of the cosplay community. So it sucks that she left it, but again refer to my post above. Like so many women in that community go out of their way to go that more provocative side of things and attract that attention and sure if your going at something innocently its tragic that your caught in the cross fire. But also is the cosplay say a full battle armoured SOB or Guardsmen... or something more provocative attracting that crowd. Because people don't jump down your throat for being pretty. But i have seen people paint a flur de lis on their face where a white wig in a bikini and be like is my cosplay good?

Regarding this sort of topic, I honestly got no problem with who is into the same hobby I am. If anything I'm curious about what drew a woman into it given the subject matter, specially in regarding the earlier Black Library books. In addition I have a problem conversation wise in general, most the staff I tend to talk and bant a lot with more then other people. Mainly out of at this moment I hate myself rather then hating a woman or anyone, store I visit also has a lot of couple drop in so I know it's a good thing in terms of closeness. Majority of streamers on Twitch around 40k are also female, Suggs from Rogue Hobbies, Orkie, Froggie and Zambies. Lastly on a personal note, they are probably better painters due to make up practice. (I say as a joke so others don't take it out of context.)

Bit of a sidetrack here but I've got ADHD and I don't believe there's actually higher rates in men, just a higher diagnosis rate so it actually can affect women worse due to the stereotype of ADHD being one of hyperactive boys, causing many women to remain undiagnosed and untreated. Inattentive type is much less diagnosed (I didn't get diagnosed till I was 30 even though I'd known I had it for years) and also far more prevalent in women than men.

27:00 With the cosplay example, I probably give the opposite answer to what you expect everyone to have. The difference is because of context. Fancy dress-up changes perception and judgment, even when it too is titillating actively or passively as natural byproduct of the type of dress and bodyshape. A casual situation however that has "them out" like this gives a completely different vibe and message, i.e. "I will have my parts out in a casual setting anytime, I am available, I want attention, possibly yours, at worst I'm promiscuous." Fancy Situation vs Casual Situation. When the girls went fancy in the German Goth scene, very different from punkish sloppy Anglo version of this subculture (although I believe that sophisticated part ended about ten years ago for the most part), nobody was in denial that anything regarding the dekolleté was of an arousing nature, no matter how tastefully presented, even those on the smaller side. I suppose that would be the mature way to go about it. While the noticers are not, but neither is she as she complains about it, despite it being her mishap, and the reaction natural; and neither are you for that matter, as you, contrary to everything else in all your other videos and stories you present, suddenly share in that denial. But, as you now shared that she does do cosplay that is also somewhat revealing (hence your question), that renders my previous good faith assumption that she is naive about what's happening and doesn't know what she's doing ad absurdum. You say you don't want to make the feminist position, but that's point for point all you do here. You know yourself what it's called when men suddenly shut off their brains and turn inside out and do the opposite of what you otherwise knew them for, once a woman is involved that they need to protect from any responsibility of her own. The right course of action here would have been to not make a video here and draw more attention to this laughable mess. This whole situation does not make the point you want it to make. When I'm at the gaming table, I don't want casual girl casually have her tits out like that. It's distracting to begin with. "Oh but what a creep are you that you're distracted by deep cleavage!" I hear from the cheap seats. That's natural. And just as she doesn't want to be bothered by attention she allegedly doesn't want, I don't want to have to force my concentration, because someone feels too entitled to cover up a distraction so fundamental that it titillates the brain whether you want it to or not. Why do you think there are such nicely dressed girls in Vegas? I'm not in the hobby to hook up. I am here to play. The people who come in with the intent to hook up are the problem. What is the primary reason to be here? And if "chance to hook up" is not your primary reason, why is it a reason at all. That which one (hopefully) gets automatically through hobbies like are social skills. Those require feedback from those around. When somebody messes up, there's hopefully someone who in a approportiate or proportional manner, gives that feedback. Men and women both have responsibilities, including in the most fundamental aspect of being: Sexual aspects and interactions. And don't get me wrong, if you wargame with a sweet woman in the hobby, she's genuinely into it, and you're at her or your place, and she has them out like that, awesome. Wouldn't put it on the internet though. As a last thing I will note the following: PTSD and very bad medication pushed by fraudulent "experts" for that, has destroyed my libido. Makes it a very grey world. Doesn't mean I have forgotten how these things work. It also means I'm not blinded by them, and I have no connection to any of the people involved. That means I can look at these things a bit more as for what they objectively are - although I wouldn't wish that ability through this course of getting there on anyone. This is my third comment on this video, it really fried some synapses listening to this. If this had been the first video on your channel I've seen, I would not have stuck for a second, because this is not who you are. It happens to the best of us.

great video! There is a lot I could say about this and I really do think it is an important discussion, but a KZfaq comment is not really the best place for such a long essay haha. still will be long (sorry) I’ll say this though. Are there actually creeps and real sexists (sure against men but in this conversation specifically about women)? Yes there are. Now I don’t think you’ll ever be able to get rid of all of them (and the so called allies aren’t helping). Are there reasons why those people are like that? Yes, it could be every woman they’ve met has treated them like shit (including being sexiest against them), mental health issues, social awkwardness, or just for no good reason (to name a few). This isn’t covering for these people as they need to get there shit together and get help. Are these people a sizable chunk of the hobby? No I don’t think so. What Im trying to say is that there are actual bad people out there in the hobby (and I mean actually sexist not this boy-who-cried-wolf shit I see so many people say when someone disagrees with them). The thing is that these people exist in larger numbers than some want to accept and they are a much smaller part of the hobby (really minuscule amount) than others want to admit. Just because a woman is showing a pic of her with hobby stuff doesn’t mean they are some attention seeking e-thot. Some are, sure, but they are a tiny percentage. Just because people don’t want female Space Marines doesn’t mean they are a “sexist, incel, man-baby”. There are those who are but again they are a tiny percentage. communication is key don’t just assume because it makes an ass of u and me. anyway, again great video sorry this is so long.

I think theres a large part of the community that are sick of sexuality being injected in everything. Harassment is never ok, but over sexualization can cheapen the “sanctity” of their beloved hobby. I think a lot of people lash out out of fear their hobby will end up like a lot of the cosplay community, where high quality impressive work will always be overshadowed by party store costumes with the chest cut out and a bikini bottom.

I was apart of the cosplay community with my homie we both saw how much backstabbing and horrible mess happened just so one person could get a bit more famous than another. So I understand the INSTANT disfavor of anything E-Girl since too often the instinct is correct and they're clout chasing and or trying to take somebody down that's already popular. So when somebody is genuine it's hard trust due to years of drama you've dealt with.

I recently got back into the hobby after 15 years (only played very briefly as a teen) and after joining a few groups and forums I was quite shocked about the amount of toxic behaviour and childish/autusic weirdness from grown adults.. for young people I get it, we were all immature once but there's not really any excuse for it at this point. People that use fake names on the internet are mostly the toxic ones I've noticed too maybe it makes people feel better about themselves as some must have sad lives which while I do pity that it's still no excuse. I'm not saying we all have to like each other but just some simple manners and a open mind goes a long way in life regardless of background, race or sex.

The 40k community is it's own worst enemy a lot of the time, it's very easy to see how we turn people off particularly online. There is a small section of toxic gamers for sure, who live 40k and nothing else. Many channels comment sections are full of negative salty Karens who over react about everything because 40k is their whole life. I played a lot of 40k from 2007-2010 ish at a local GW store. The sense of humour was immature, low brow , inudendo, infantile, purile and lots of jokes from Sickepedia. Looking back on it just not very nice at all. I don't know if that is still the case in smaller towns and gaming groups i would guess yes. I had a 12 year break from the hobby now playong again for the last year. I think London has an amazing gaming community. Most people in London are very respectful. Generally looking to play the game have a bit of a chat and go home. Most people I've played the have successfull jobs, wives or girlfriends, do sports and have other hobbies they live full rounded lives and 40k is a part of that. If it was still the same attitude as the 2010's i sinply wouldn't play.

The fact you had to start this video with a load of caveats because you knew the backlash it could create says a lot. The 40K space, and wider GW, is notorious for this, I was around pre-internet and going to GW game nights when it was a much more niche thing and it's barely changed in 30 years despite the popularity of hobby exploding. Really, it's a bit pathetic really.

Ah so that's what the problem was about. I noticed bits and pieces of that on Twitter. Overall Kya mostly posts wholesome stuff like enjoying Warhammer with family and pets (despite one femarines take, that seemed to be rather salty). Weird that people come with "that" kind of energy to such content. Although let's be honest - you can't weed out immature jokes and attitudes from the hobby. You can try but in the end place of those who grow out of this behaviour will be taken by new waves of fans that age is in 13-20 brackets. I mean any discussions that go towards resolving that situation usually cause people who use words like "systemic" come out of the woodwork. Perhaps funneling new people to places that are somewhat kept on certain level by rules is best solution, since on bigger social media like Twitter you can do very little to prevent people from doing this sort of stuff.

North, This is not only a Hobby problem, this is a MAJOR culture problem throughout Western society as a whole. You have children watching pornografic images at the age of 8 through a phone, hence this insane interaction with people online as well as through social groups. You have the factor of men loosing their manhood through a brainwashed school system that is more or less courted to be the Cult of Personality, the same goes for the destruction of woman nowadays of which you are not allowed to be something other than what the group "cult" sees fit. You have opinions trump reality, like you have marriage issues, such as people rather have constant sexual interactions than an actual relationship of the counterpart. This is not a Hobby problem by a long short, this is a MAJOR systematic problem of which we moralize what was immoral yesterday. This is in fact the human condition of which we destroy ourselves through programing. Jeremy Griffith, an Australian biologist, speaks on the matter on how this is in fact a mindset of which we're all victims of throughout society.

Kya, saw the pic on a FB page, commended "Wholesome" because it really is, I also thought it was a dangerous thing to have cats near the titan haha, she looks happy and excited... also... cade, it hits the happy place in my brain since I lost my cats Chas and Dave (Ginger maine coon and English Blue), as for the rest of the comments, I am no white knight but god damn the f*ck is wrong with those people, this is exactly why woman find it difficult to get into the hobby, gatekeep, gatekeep these people out. thats not a community issue, its a this day and age issue; + twitch thotery + attention seeking + rampand shrimping + young men are shamed for everything + warhammer community men are outsiders and akward, so if they see stuff like that it imediatly goes: attention.... no woder this breeds resentment and anger... and dont forget the twitter fact: you can say what you want on twitter and mostly its trolls. If you are offended by the internet than grow a thicker skin.... in no time ever has anyone at a shop or tournament reacted this way because, in person humans tend to be nicer and IRL you have to deal with the conesquences of your actions. and if you go to any slightly comp. game where young men that arent part of society come together you get reactions like that (mostly because of modern feminism women having way to high of standards and no positive outlet for young men that is positive and not constantly berating) and dont forget about the weasly snakes of male feminist allys types those are the real power creeps in the community... pushing divercity only to get layed and when rejected they become real monsters.... we have some boys in our local club who recent women because they got constantly rejected (reasons like money not enought clout etc and those are 2 or 3 at best) dont get me wrong harassing is wrong. at the same time most of the times its just someone try to annoy someone to get a reaction. its not the community ..its humans in general and the social buildup today doesnt help young men need something positive in their time of growing up or youll get actually young men that hate women... and that is not the outcome anyone wants might i say

I agree with you because I came up when shit was simpler online and people didn't really act like they do now. Boys DO need a solid hobby or few where they can focus some creative brain power into. Yet a problem from my observation has always been the anti-social women masking like they're social. They're mean and want to remove other women from the space. I've seen it where women were accused from serious criminal acts. Yet then the accusers just go "I just wanted their rep ruined I didn't want them to go to jail" Yet the worse ones were as you said those male feminists since they're monsters. They'll spend years getting women into spaces mental, IRL, etc where they cannot get away from their torrment. They make the whole hobby look bad like how there was BS in the Smash Bros and D&D spaces in recent years.

21:45 I'm sorry, this one time I have to disagree. I understand Iyou want to protect your friend and sometimes natural blinders grow from that. You can not fault these men (and juvenile boys) for their reaction to this image, and not "seeing the Titan first", and I will explain why: The simplest point, and you will likely at first disagree is: Zipper is down. That has two effects: Firstly "zipper down" is in itself suggestive, similar "open button." The japanese especially seem to have turned this into an artform some might argue, I'd argue they've put it beyond pure trope and tool and into fetish-trope. Suggestive clothes can be way more sexually appealing than full nakedness. There's even classic artpieces that explore this very effect. What makes this "zipper down" so effective is that it exposes the undershadow of the boob. Thereby prompting the imagination of the entire full round geometry of the breast. Zipper up we would only see the outer silhouette. This an extremely and suggestive neckline, if you cannot understand what that does I cannot help either you; however I am very sure you understand how the male mind works due to your "in the back of the bus" example. - Why now does the male (and probably lesbian) attention go there first and not as you say "should" go to the Titan? Because the latter would be so utterly unnatural that we'd have to consider wrong with that person, because that would indicate that the male sexual-pattern-recognition is borked. That pattern-recognition-system is supposed to override everything. That's why "eye-discipline" is a thing. The very geometry of the human female breast, that looks different from every angle, is so complex that it puzzles the brain, it forces it to imagine. Humans have not sexualized the female breast, nature did that for us. There are strange feminists with strange goals who insist the female breast is not sexual at all but only for weening children. They are wrong. The fatty tissue that makes the size, is not necessary for producing milk at all. An A-cup can just as much feed a child as a D. The milkducts are the same. The fatty tissue exists mimikry. Mimikry of two things: 1) The butt. We go upright, so in contrast to our more hairy and more tree hugging cousins in the evolutionary tree, we don't have that close to eye-level anymore. If you take a picture at the right distance/frame of cleavage, it is indistinguishable from buttocks and the respective crack. Especially when you push'em'up a bit. I don't need to explain how buttocks and hips suggest fertility/ease of child-bearing and sustenance? Good. 2) The filled milk-giving breast. As mothers know, when they're producing milk to feed their new bundles of joy, the breasts are quite full, for some unlucky cases to a painful degree at a point where the tissue struggles. The aforementioned fatty tissue mimics this state of "I am full, therefore I have children, therefore I am fertile." The male sexual center is hardwired to recognize any indicators of "is fertile." It's a reflex. Part of male maturity is to learn to deal with that. But it would trigger. Even when you're on the battlefield, the Stalinorgel is hammering, and you're running through Nomansland, in full Stoicism-mode, and boobs run by, you may be able to well concentrate on your task, but that part of your brain will be tickled nontheless and try to distract you. It is on the same primal level as thirst and hunger. Part of female maturity is to recognize that and not needlessly display nature's insistence on being noticed. The bigger the rack, the harder that is of course; sometimes to an annoying degree to some women. Then again that is also why in our species the women have cursed blessing of the privilege of "only" needing to filter out the men they don't want; which usually is a lot. On a sidenote: There's two extremes of societies that can spring from this, as in the end it is all about access to the eggs, to put it most bluntly. One is the Simp-Culture that tries to appease the eggholders in every wish possible and protect the eggholders from any responsibility. It is blind worship from below. That produces societal problems. Directly for those simps, and indirectly for other men and women who's natural dating game and feeling each other out to filter out, gets compromised. For example naturally the first "No" of the woman can as likely be a filter to check the determination of the man - this is often unconsciously and part of flirting. The second "No" is the one to take serious. A woman who does more than one is likely just addicted to the chasing game and thus not emotionally mature and thus trouble. Feminism argues that the first should the only No that has to count, thereby shutting the natural human courtship ritual. It further harms this by insisting on being allowed retroactive consent withdrawal by the woman, to allow grape-accusations when she has date-regret. That is beyond immature, and borders on being psychotic. It is despotic. And destroys the entire willingness of men to even consider to participate in the game. I am sure the anti-natalists, and other population-reductionists, of which there are many among Feminists, are very happy about that outcome. The other extreme is the Prude-Culture which we could observe in some extremer parts of Christianity, but see to this day all around the world in regular islamic cultures. It's usually found in religious settings. The Prude-Culture does not worship the eggs from below, it holds control over them via tyrannic chains from above by putting them in a cage, if "lucky" a golden cage. That is why you see women not allowed anything, including going outside without a male escort in islamic society, and why the female features of their women are hidden to a high degree, in some peak variants of that culture to an absolute degree. It is all to retain control the eggs and protect them from interference by other men. Islam believes that men are uncontrollable when see such features, such as hair (let alone an ankle! oh my...), and the abusive types therein thus use this as a ready excuse: "She had her hair out, how could I act any different but grape her?" and the court will say "yup, that makes sense, her fault." Both of these extreme manifestations are, by the nature of extremes, over the top, over-correcting for issues. So, how does this all bring us back to this sweet next-door-girl? Because that's really what she looks like. There is a level of the female body's sexual appeal we simply have to accept as is. Overall it is an evolutionary masterpiece in that nook and cranny, every line, every curve of the female anatomy can, and often is, enticing to the male sexual center in the brain. That goes even for the elegent alabaster curve of a woman's arms, the gentle muscle tone, the elegant fingers. Elegance is the key word here. Elegance may tickle you from a different angle, but it still tickles the same part. When someone can't even control over that, or exposed feet in the summer, we put that person over there in the corner with the sweaty guys who don't shower. What is relevant that we recognize and accept the innate sexual nature of primary and secondary sexual characteristics. We didn't sexualize these things, they are sexual. By nature. Nature did that. Natural selection let to the pronouncements of these features and for reasons. Do not fall for the wordgames of weird activists, whether left wing or otherwise religious. If you want to blame here, blame both parties. Zip it up, and you're done. The neckline then is completely fine. The way it is in the picture? I'm sorry, that's the equivalent of cameltoe. She messed up, it happens. You don't need to lick a controller to be sexual. Your body can do that for you on its own. Was it a hot day? I can't tell from this picture. But then the fabric would be a bit thick anyway. I'll ask you honestly, if this anyone else, not your friend, and she would come into your hobbystore with that neckline and that much supple flesh exposed, would you want her there like that? As an afterthought and to the "suggestiveness" argument further up, consider that full clothes that allow a good peek are as, if not more, enticing and sexually attractive than being bikini clad. If your GW store was by the beach and it the heat of summer everyone would be in swimming gear, trunks and bikinis, the issue wouldn't be much either - at least locally. Strange how that works, eh? Context is King (and Queen I suppose in this instance). To sum it all up: No sane mind goes to the Titan first and not the tits that are out. They're out, not in. That is the entire issue. Accidental or not. The human mind first goes to look at people, not Titans. Even in a non-sexual context. Unless you're autistic like me, I look at objects first, but I even I notice when the tits are out. And they're out. Please, objective views sometimes require that you take responsibility for your accidents as well. Personally I am tired of girls who complain about men noticing that their tits are out when their tits out. It's called "titilation" for a reason. Most do it on purpose, like some questionable youtubers. Accidents happen. Tism out.

Personally i believe Warhammer is at a real cross section of facets that are particularly unappealing to females, it's just an unfortunate fact (if indeed you believe, as i do, that there are fundamental differences between the XX and XY mind). There is a pretty low ceiling of potential hetero-normal women who might enter the hobby, so i think that is why they often get the 'fake fan' accusations and the general view of being manipulative invaders looking to bask in adoration and skim the desirable mates from a captive market of mostly low-value males. There isn't enough 'data' to drown out the stereotypical perceptions and there potentially never will be, all we can do is behave ourselves i guess but there's a lot of young men who are really hurting in the hobby so progress can be slow. For the record although it is certainly not pearl clutching and 'm'lady' fedora doffing to be somewhat repulsed by the response from the comments, the photo you picked is a bad example, a conscious 'display' of sorts is 100% being made, the fact you don't even acknowledge that is verging on phoney baloney.

This was an important and well put together video. When you say "we" need to be better I get why it feels wrong to you. Because you're not part of the group of people that needs to better. It's people who resorted to hate because blaming others is easier than working on yourself. I mean, not that I am anybody to talk about working on yourself, but at the very least, I never lost sight of that it's me who has the problem and nobody else is to blame for it. As far as men in the hobby getting upset or even offended about getting rejected in their safe space, I'd even take it one step further. It's most likely not just where it happens. It's also that for a lot - again, I can talk from experience - that they lived with the mindset that women won't date them because of being a nerd. A thing heavily promoted by modern media for decades, always presenting the nerds as undesirable and natural outcasts. Which doesn't mean that's how all women think, but quite a lot did pick that stereotype up just as we tend to let entertainment shape our view on things way too often. So, meeting a woman in the hobby does translate for many into "that must mean she can't reject me because she is also a nerd." Which then makes the rejection hit that much harder, and if these guys already deal with other mental issues it can easily confirm pre-existing suspicions that it wasn't their interest after all but other reasons. Like their looks or just that they're "meant to be alone", which then channels into lashing out against women. Maybe not even the one rejected specifically but her as a surrogate for the female population in its entirety. In case you're still reading after that wall of text, as I said before, I can relate to such things way too much. Sometimes I feel I only avoided slipping into the incel mindset by random chance. I don't know if it makes things really better, but at the very least instead of lashing out I simply internalized all that hatred. You have no idea how much I want to follow your advice, I know all those things myself and simply don't know myself why I don't do it. It's like my own mind keeps shooting me down, as if some bully sits in the back of my head yelling at me. You say shoot your shot, my mind jumps to I don't have a shot. I know I should work out, my mind decides it's pointless because I'm too lazy to keep up with it. I know I shouldn't eat all that unhealthy food but my mind switches to auto-pilot once I get hungry as I'm some drug-addict who can't think straight unless they get their fix. It's like sitting in a front-row seat watching me destroying myself. And all that, the inability to do what I know I need to do just keeps that cycle of self-hatred turning, making me even more convinced I'm already a lost cause, that I'm too old for a change anyway, and at times even that just eating until a heart attack gives me relief would be the smarter choice... Sorry for just randomly dropping all that. I guess that mix of adressing these topics while talking about male mental health gave me a need to vent all that. Just to let you know, I already do have a therapist which is why I am able to at least voice these things and keep those thoughts about heart-attacks from taking over. And no, I don't expect to get a solution or magical fix for everything presented. As I said, I simply needed to get that all out of my head before it made me spiral once again.

You said you're too old to change, change to be what? If food is a problem for you it is likely causing or exaggerating all your other problems. If you can, fast (as you're a bloke, it's not so great for women). If not you definitely can make substitutes though, swap chocolate snacks for nuts, sugary drinks for sugar free etc. Only food shop after eating. You're likely aware of all this already. But it's worth reinforcing. Good luck.

I can tell straight away half those guys are trolling or having a laugh, the other half legit believe what they're posting. Just ignore it. If it is against the rules, ban them, simple as. Also, the Titan doesn't look like the same shade of Orange to me as the cats, though I like the colour shift from highlights to darks are rather smooth, but I have exceptional colour perception, to me it just comes off as she really likes the colour Orange. What bothers me more than anything is the image just appears warped to me, like the Camera decided to centre focus on the building prop in the middle of the picture and then perspective warp everything around it, because the Ultramarines and model case in the background look weirdly angled to me. First thing I did notice was that the Titan Pattern and her Shirt/Jumper has the same pattern, black stripes with Orange.

I absolutely agree with the fact a lot of us guys were bullied for being "Geeks and Nerds" back in the days of old. Knowing how that felt, I do not understand after being bullied, someone then is happy doing the same to others. Doesn't matter what gender, how can you live with yourselves knowing how much that hurt you back then, and then to inflict the same hurt on to someone else. Tell you what if I see it, it won't be happening for long! Keep up the good work Northern Exile, well done for bringing out in the open!

As a few other people have said here, it's totally fine for women to be part of the hobby and community. But the well has already been poisoned by attention-seeking women who like to display their cleavage first and their models second. Not that cleavage is necessarily thot-behavior, but its often pretty obvious when a female "fan/hobbyist" is only making content to get attention and get ahead by low-key whoring themselves out to a bunch of nerdy "incels". People have seen these types of women infiltrate many different gaming spaces and are tired of it because it comes across as shameless and pretty disingenous. Women don't have to wear low-key shirts in a video the same way a man doesn't have to wear tight underwear in a video about literally anything else to attract viewers. Not every pic of a female hobbyist showing 1/4 of her chest automatically means that was their intention, but people should know what kind of idea it is going to give viewers in today's day and age. The internet can suck when it comes to the people who go out of their way to interact. Use it smartly and dont cry when people take your content in a way that is easy to misconstrue. People, women included, need to read the room. And if they do get attention for sexualized images, well, they probably shouldn't whine about it later. There are plenty of decent female miniature gaming YTers with a decent amount of followers that didn't have to go out of their way to do this kind of thing to get where they are.

Women will change the social dynamics in a gaming community. This may not be condusive to playing a good game. Whether its board games, table top, computer games or even a sport, there are pros and cons. A private group of just men is probably a lot of people's preference. The big problem is when your private group forgets it's in public (like in a games shop or on the internet).

It's depressing to see comments on this very video giving you pushback and suggesting that this isn't a big deal. Of course this behaviour is gross, and as always it is always vocalised behind the safety of a computer screen. Women are coming into this hobby looking for friends, fun times around a table, to express creativity through painting and storytelling or just out of curiosity and to give it a whirl, and seeing this just makes my heart drop. And to comments saying that they are joking or memeing or that there's a certain tongue in cheek or pantomime element to this, even if that's true it still doesn't wash it away and make it acceptable. It just fosters the view that this is- frankly- some sort of boy's club where "joking" like this is normalised (again, behind the safety of the screen, I guarantee these commenters would clam up if I was in a conversation with them). What's really sad is that some of us get a double whammy as well. What you were saying about normal or good-looking guys getting grief from envious guys resonated with me because it goes for us as well. I'd consider myself pretty ordinary looking really, always been a face in the crowd but can spruce myself up for a night out, but I like my health and to be active and I'll actively keep myself in shape through jogging and hillwalking and using our wee home garage gym with the husband. I've had death glares and really rather vicious underhanded comments and talking behind my back from the sort of women who some call "legbeards" (I hate that term, but it conjures up an image of the sort of people I am talking about). A lot of these women gave the vibe that they were the Queen Bee in their hobby space and that I'm like that girl from that episode of the Simpsons who outdoes Lisa at everything just by existing. It's not just 40K and tabletop scenes either. I've noticed this in board games, TCGs and when I was more involved in furry/anthro a few years back (I'm still on the periphery of that scene and as much as people might scoff at it to be fair to them they've really shaped up in recent years and there's a lot of women coming through the ranks which is great) It's hard to articulate this without seeming like I'm bigheaded, hah, but it's definitely the same behaviour that you're saying the better-looking guys have to put up with too.

While I do agree that this is a problem I don’t think it Is just a warhammer problem. Overall this is straight up an internet problem. Like at 26:00 is the perfect example of this. "Titans, cats, and pretty girls, truly this is the most internet photo ever." Done. Dusted. Not a lech. The fuckin' internet killed social skills. To be fair, the woman is occupying the upper left quarter, which is where most people are trained to look first by the direction their language reads, and she's a reasonably attractive girl, so anybody attracted to girls is going to notice; but inability to just...stuff it and move on, or acknowledge it in a way that isn't "der, hur, bewbs" runs rampant in the age of no-eye-contact.

So she posts a picture of herself with a low cut top and gets some very mild jokes about it in the comments? Maybe the solution is stop posting attention seeking pictures of yourself online. Also you say its people who hate women and can't get laid who make comments like that but maybe its just people who dont like attention seekers. If i had trouble getting girls and they kept posting pictures with their boobs out it'd probably piss me off too.

You made some very good points but I also feel like internet interactions are not an overly accurate portrayal of the space. Are some people in the hobby chodes? Sure, just like every other hobby/fandom. The problem here is that social media sites, especially Reddit, are infested with people who have nothing better to do than make stupid statements. They mainly do it because there is no consequence to their actions and most times they are in an echo chamber with other chodes that hang out on these threads. On a side note, I've heard you talk about the "revenge of the nerds" stuff before and each time I find myself at odds with that analysis. Is it wrong to talk down to others who want to engage with the hobby? Yes. Is it fair for nerds to maintain one area of their life as an escape from normie culture? Also yes. The hard part is not crossing the line between healthy gatekeeping like saying no to canon female space marines, and unhealthy gatekeeping like the plastics in Mean Girls refusing to let Regina sit with them because she wasn't wearing pink. The main takeaway here is that guys making jokes like "a woman and 40k together?" are usually just poking fun at the situation whereas all the dudes posting "boobs" are a bunch of chodes that don't warrant further discussion.

Now i don't know maybe shes trolling, if so fair enough, if not shes certainly entitled to her opinion, however that's kinda the attitude we want to keep out, or we'll soon all manner of political bullshit stuffed into the hobby, and we'll have Wokehammer 50K Age of the Gender Fluid Emperor. I find online alot of people tend to be very toxic in any kind of nerdy hobby community. I will say as someone who plays 40k and has friends across the planet who play, certain parts of the world even have an issue with this in person. A sizeable chunk of Europe from what friends there tell me has an issue in the 40k scene with sexism and racism depending on where you go. Here in America, it seems like the 40k community is thankfully very welcoming in person. Nobody cares who you are, they're just happy to have more people. For instance here in New England, we have a LARGE female and trans player-base which is very cool to see and it even carries by word of mouth outside of the hobby. I popped into a shop with a trans friend of mine to grab some Thousand Sons rubrics and she immediately told me all about how she heard the scene in this area is so inclusive and friendly despite never having played. I wish that inclusiveness spread to the online portion of the hobby.
