Does The Premier League Ruin The England National Team?
Since English fans first started singing “it’s coming home”, it has never come home. In fact, football has only “come home” once ever, and that was way back in 1966. Since then, it has been poor officiating like in 1986 at the World Cup, hard luck like in 1998 and 2010 at the World Cup, and near misses like in 2018 at the World Cup and 2021 at the Euros.
We could give all sorts of excuses for the lack of success at international competitions for more than half a century now, but they would hardly hold water because the simple fact is that the 3 Lions should actually be doing much better than they have been doing.
And so many things could be blamed for these underwhelming outings; the FA, bad officiating, poor coaching, lack of zeal from the players, poor decision making on and off the pitch, lots of things. But what if the problem is actually with the country’s local league - the Premier League?
How could the Premier League be ruining the England national team, you ask? Well, come along with us.

The problem is that 90% of the england squad are overrated. They just don't have the qualities to win anything

I don't think we can blame the way PL is going..... Bringing in bigger talents from other countries makes the league tough and also the English players better..... Saka, foden ,TAA, Reece James these are just amazing talents there's no doubt.... I feel it's just bad luck..... To win a tournament a team should show dominance, be ruthless and that's lacking in England team.... I could easily predict France going to final and even win in the last world cup cause they were dominant, same with Germany in 2014

I know this will sound far fetched, but I think one factor hampers the England squad is that players are more likely to pledge alegience to their club. IMO the next coach should reinforce the idea that the country is more important than your club alegiance - you are not representing Arsenal, Chelsea, Machester United etc., but England. Take for example Otto Rehaggel - when he took over Greece's head coaching job in 2002 players were more likely to be loyal to their clubs (e.g. Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, AEK, PAOK etc.) than the national team. Rehaggel's first order of business was to remind them that representing your country is the first and foremost priority in international football and inter-club rivalries don't mean a thing. And Greece went on to win Euro 2004.

All you need to do is look at the Under 17 Team that won the World Cup against Spain and how many of them play top level football compared to Spain’s Under 17’s. We have such a small pool of players to choose from due to prem teams only having a couple of Englishmen in each team. It has a knock on effect as well for the other home nations as historically their best players would play in division one and now very few get to play in any of the top leagues.

Simple answer...YES! when I grew up watching footie...there was only 4 foreigners allowed per team. It goes beyond that...the FA are always out of touch and we needed a Brian Clough over seeing English footie, the way Jackie Fisher took the Navy by the scruff!

The reason why England didn't achieve the international success is that they didn't want to hire the best football coach of the world to produce young stars. I think the men team must follow the women's team recent success. After many disappointing results, the FA brought the former Dutch women manager before the nation hosted the Euro and they succeeded. The Lionesses had not only won the Euro unbeaten, but also qualified to the World Cup without surrendering one goal in addition to perfect win record, including a intolerable 20-0 win against Latvia. I would say the women team will win the World Cup without suffering problems, but not for the men team. They are deserved to reach the semifinal until penalty curse or even football errors like Maguire's poor defense occur.

The Premier League did ruin things alright - I don't know about the England national team, because I honestly don't care about that team, but they absolutely did ruin stuff at the club level - and not just for England, but the other European leagues. They've been the main driver for transfer fees and wages getting higher and higher after investors started pumping cash into things, and honestly, the longer this goes on, the more disillusioned I get with the sport. People claim the Premier League is the best league in the world, and the most exciting, but all I see is a mess where money gets thrown around without any justification while making the experience worse for the rest of Europe, because the other clubs abroad either have to do the same to stay relevant... or can't do it and get further and further behind. That's how we get stuff like the Bayern dominance in Germany, for example.

If England ever wish to win any international tournament then they need to change the manager. Southgate does know how to use all the quality players England has, England needs a better manager for sure and there are a ton of them available. What's wrong with the playing 11, Goalkeeper: Aaron Ramsdale Defence: Tomori, White, Shaw and Chilwell Midfield: Stones, Rice, Trent and Bellingham. Attack: Saka and Foden. For substitute: Palmer, White, Jack, Rashford, Madison, Lewis, Heaton etc

In my humble opinion, I have NEVER (in my lifetime) seen a very talented footballer from England. I have, however, seen numerous English players who were very much over rated by the English media.

Jude Bellingham is still at Dortmund guys remeber. By the end of the day it will be the price tag he leaves for. If he gets bought for 150 mil by Liverpool and he preforms bad. Social Media will say he left Dortmund for the price tag. It will keep on going that way. Thats why i feel like players with High price tags should go to diffrent leagues not just Premier League to not end up like his fellow Friend Jadon Sancho

Others leagues mostly have a strict ffp rule laid by the league itself and not under european football union Once the league ffp will be there in pl then players like bellingham will have a price tag of mostly 120 to 130 million

If greenwood has been training regularly and was on bail then i would have taken him for the world cup A gamble like brazil did with a injured Original Ronaldo He had just recovered and then he was caled up for the world cup,he then dropped the mic and rest is history Grealsih case is different its not about injury but a domestic violance case still if permitted and if he is fit then i would have taken the step and took all the blame one if he was not up to the level
