And the kid having a tonic-clonic seizure leading to bradycardia, no real change in BP, and somehow has a PAP of 87 when normal PAP is 15-25. Even if they meant O2 sat, he's obstructing his airway with saliva, probably aspirating a lot of it, and somehow isn't desatting. This is why I'm not allowed to watch these shows with my gf anymore.

Imagine having a mother so concerned with getting her way that she'll kill her own child rather than let doctors tell her what to do? This one hits home hard for me. My mother was exactly the same way. Almost got my younger brother killed because she didn't want to admit he might have something as small as a mild twitch from a mild form of Tourette's Syndrome She was so convinced that it was cancer and that the doctors couldn't do their job.

While it is true that helicopter parenting is often to the detriment of the children, it is also true that in this episode the mother was actually right the first time (had Chase and Foreman gone through with the treatment for the first suspected diagnosis, it would've killed the boy)

This is based on an incident that happened in California back in the 1960s, I believe. Jeans were being transported in a truck when some chemicals (I think it was pesticides) leaked from a tank onto the batch of jeans. The store refused to accept the jeans as they didn’t appear fresh; the spill had dried but the time of delivery and I don’t think there was any obvious staining. The jeans were then taken to a discount outlet, I think, where they were sold. 2 teenaged boys became gravely ill but both survived, if I recall correctly. In both cases, they’d worn the jeans without them having been washed and while others had bought contaminated jeans too they’d washed them prior to wearing so the toxin was eliminated.

The most unrealistic part of this series is the team members doing various analyses. Good hospitals have staff to run tests, including chromatography and CAT scans. I just had a cheeseburger. It was great. Here's what I did: Set the pan to medium high heat, place the patty in and cook on one side for three to five minutes then flip, place a slice of provolone cheese on the upwards side and let it melt, when the patty reaches an internal temp of at least 160f take it off, or after the bottom becomes a little dark and the cheese is melted, (probably best to do this step early) take and english muffin and place it in the pan toasting both sides or the pieces, take an onion (without slicing it in half) and remove the outer layer then take two round slices (or however many you want these were large slices from the middle) and place them in the pan charing both sides, place the onion on the burger, and then proceed to place three slices of dill pickle on the burger, place three spicy pickles on the burger as well, put on a little ketchup and mustard to taste. And done.

House and his team literally work one case at a time based on this shows portrayal of their jobs. When I worked the wards I usually had 20 to 30 patients to look after. It would have been impossible to work the wards, do all their scans, administer all the medication and run all the labs. That's why we work in teams with people trained specifically for each task.
