"You didn't test it" As a pest control applicator, that's what the label is for. Putting anything else in a pesticide container with a different label (and reusing pesticide containers) is HELLA against the law, precisely because of situations like this where possible exposure needs treatment.

@@norixiuseroth7999 yes, totally empty, new and never used. It doesnt even say that it is for pesticides (although they look like it and some people use them for it) We had them at my old workplace to wet leather evenly, and I know a lot of people that use them to mist their plants. In my current workplace we use one to spray the street with herbicides, so it is very important to always buy it new and never use one that you are not 100% sure what it was used for.

I too am a certified applicator - for over 30 years. I was going to critique the scene where she read the chem name and said "He used the whole can" Well, wait a minute buddy. That was a pump sprayer, not the container the chemical concentrate came in. It definitely wasn't pre-mixed from the store in that sprayer, either. Who puts the chem name on on the pump sprayer? No one that that I know of. We switch chems in them all the time - never put a title on the sprayer for what is in them. Besides - who says the sprayer was completely full? Lots of assumptions going on here. The technical chemical containers is what you were referring to. Like a bottle of Bifenthrin or Termidor SC. They have the labels and instructions. They need to be mixed with the appropriate amount of water to use. That is what would apply to what you said. We definitely have procedures for their disposal, too. Like cutting holes in the rinsed-out bottles so they can't be re-used for anything. While you are correct about concentrate chem containers - that wasn't the case here. They were only looking at a pump sprayer. This scene is not technically correct in any way. Bottom line - the script writers know nothing about pesticide equipment and their general use.

the worst part is that Bus driver was just a regular guy, ik they wanted him to look "stupid" for that segment, but also they wrote him to be real because he was asking a question i think anyone would've if you found out kids were poisoned on your bus. IK i would've done the exact same and as soon as i found they were doctors investigating a toxic exposure in my work area, I would've been telling them ANY symptoms i've been having and asking way more questions than he did about it lol. Chase's reply felt out of pocket and revenge-y there.

Mom's not wrong though. House is wrong quite a bit more than people think. He just usually pulls a victory out of his butt in the end. His guesswork frequently hurts patients before it helps them and it's dumb luck that he hasn't killed more.

House uses these unorthodox diagnostic methods often because by doing treatments immediately he can rule out other diseases without using lab tests that waist time the patient doesn’t have. I don’t know if that’s a viable strategy in real life medicine although that’s how House usually ends up solving his puzzles. She was right tho and the treatment could’ve made his condition worse.

Ehh, I work with doctors, (optometrists so not like these) and I have seen them pull the "I'm a doctor card" with patients, but it's far and few between and happens when a patient is trying to say something ridiculous like "I don't want to get my child glasses bc I want her vision to get better" (doesn't work that way, esp when your child failed a vision exam at school and that's why she's here). Fun fact though, there is something you can use to keep children's vision from getting worse, but it's a type of contact that they wear that holds their cornea in shape so it doesn't get worse as they grow (Myopia control contacts).
@michaelccozens
@michaelccozens 2 жыл бұрын
@@ameliarose47 There's been a big sea change in medicine in recent decades, almost all for the better. Doctors have (mostly) stopped seeing themselves as Gods dictating to know-nothing serfs and have started seeing their role, quite rightly, as that of guides helping clients who are their equals make informed choices about their lives. Still a lot of the old-guard around, though, and God help you if you're also not cishet, WASP, male, falling within the dictated BMI, etc. You probably know all this, so sorry for the repetition, but I thought the larger historical context helped explain the concept in question a bit more.

I didn't think the mother was being unreasonable. Doctors screw up. House almost did. One of my mom's docs gave her eye drops that caused her heart to fibrillate. She found the problem and reported it. He said, "This medication can't make your heart fibrillate." She showed him the side effects in a PDR. He read that and said, "Well, you found it." He changed her meds. The fibrillation stopped.

Sometimes a medicine will have such an unusual or very rare side effect, that even the PDR may not mention it. I had to do an in-depth online search and finally found that a med that I was put on more recently, could cause my symptom. Went off med (after showing the data to my doc) and that symptom went away.

One time my friend went to the hospital and they were pumping the wrong med in the IV - almost died by the time they listened to her saying things were getting worse 🤪 There’s actually a lot of medical things in this television show for casual viewers that don’t match up with reality. She was not that much of a Karen, at least she was polite and she did all she did was for her son, not for her ego like most Karens. Also when Karens can not get what they need they are not that rational and calculating, they act like kids, screaming and kicking. She wanted solid proof that her son wouldn't get hurt or killed by the doctors, i can understand that. In Houses head everyone knows he's the best and almost always right, but she doesn't know that, she is not in his head. More over, she is inside the show, she didn't watch it, so she has very little evidence to blindly believe House. It does not matter that most patient's parents were wrong and the doctors were right, because all it takes for her to be right and the doctors wrong 1 time to kill or harm her son.

One of the few episodes where I sided with the "irrational parent/patient". The entire episode they are practically shooting from the hip and guessing. They find something that sounds like it fits and roll with it despite not actually confirming it. Mom has seen their treatments fail and hurt her son. She deals with what seems to be an arrogant Doctor that doesnt even want to elaborate on the risks of a treatment. She finally caves and guess what? It doesnt work and her son gets worse. In the end they cured him out of pure luck and the lady was painted as irrational while I was just sitting there agreeing with her all the way. What have they done up to that point other than guess at the problem and make things worse with incorrect treatments.

omg, people! You CAN watch the whole episode/series of ANY show you want, and all for free! Have you not tried doing a Google search for free episodes? There's tonnes of websites that are dedicated to streaming this stuff, completely free. I will sometimes see one of these shorts, then want to watch the whole episode...so I just Google it. You can then search it by season or episode. Luckily, such info is always listed under the vid. I usually provide a link to such things, but honestly, I'm tired of doing people's research for them, when it's so easy for them to do it themselves. I don't mind helping, but I don't support laziness and stupidity. KZfaq can't show complete series of anything because of copyright issues.

Except she was right and saved her son's life while they would have killed him had she not refused. Chances are he didn't wash the can before going to school and you'd find traces in the can that would show that he did in fact use orange peel oil and not the pesticide. She wasn't a Karen. The doctors assumed she was lying when she was telling them the truth and were about to give her son a medicine that would've made his condition worse because they thought she should be silent and agree with everything they said. She was 100% right in the end and if she had let them give her son the medicine sooner who knows what could've happened to him.
@ottokarl5427
@ottokarl5427 2 жыл бұрын
@@kkelseym I think that is (ironically) what makes people hate her so much. She mostly was depending on her feelings, but she was always right. They were sure time and time again, but every time they made it worse for her son, while also dismissing her. I think it is fair to say that at some point you don't trust those doctors anymore under that circumstances. If the conclusion would have been something along the line of her hiding crucial informations or being wrong in some important aspect, she would be like countless other "stupid patients/family members" on House. But since she never got that sweet, sweet "you are wrong and an idiot"-moment, people never get to enjoy their frustration about this character getting released.

What "dose of reality"? She was right; it was House's team who were making unwarranted assumptions. House and the team were just assuming she was ignorant, but she knew her son and knew how he acted. She wasn't claiming to be an expert on medicine; she was just making the obvious observation that she knew her son better than they did. Really, they should have considered her input and just tested the container, especially as the incorrect treatment they tried to force on him probably would have killed him. You might want to consider how you got this so backwards.
