One of my favourite DDs. You have to play the concealment game or you just die! This is a good example on how to do that.

I love the TRB Kagero. My best BXP game was a TRB Kagero as well as an SW. I enjoyed it so much that I got the Harekaze to replace it. I almost always play TRB when it is available. Always good to watch a master.

I’m one of the few heretics that prefer Kagero to Harekaze. Harekaze is great and I can do a lot with her, but I miss the HP and rudder with B hull since Harekaze is an A hull Kagero. What I really want is TRB Yukikaze. The double F3 launches would be crazy strong.

@@destroyerkuroshiokai my main reason for getting harekaze had less to do with performance and more with a tier 8 premium for competition and commander training. My top scores are much better in kagero even though my win rates are nearly identical.

Torp boats are the most enjoyable ships for me to play in the game. Your videos are very good and have helped me become an 1800 lifetime PR in shima and a 2100 PR in Yugumo playing with TRB. Thanks!

Unfortunately it’s rare to get videos that actually discuss the finer points of torpedo boat play. Most unicorns prefer guns because they are reliable but often position themselves where their torps are of marginal use. DD guns can stack damage but few things remove ships like a well placed torpedo spread.

Nice torp reload Kagero game. Kagero used to be one of my favorites, before it started living in tier 10. Top tier radar cruisers and DD killer DD's make it much harder to play. Your game was full of juicy BB's and not much radar, a great opportunity for a "back in the day" Kagero game. Lots of good pointers, especially play with backup and leave if you have none. GG

I would have loved more radar in the game but I can only work with what I got. Radar just makes me play a little differently that’s it. Look at my old ranked videos when the US CL line first dropped with the regular US radar, often times from stealth and there was no render delay the enemy team could shoot at you immediately. I played that season with F3 Shima because the CLs would rush the DD expecting an easy kill. Instead they found a face full of F3s. Radar doesn’t scare me it only delays the inevitable most of the time.

Understanding what you are doing and why = easy. Actually getting out and attempting to do it is what separates the wheat from the chaff.

I am proof it’s possible. I was a solid green player that got into competitive and got good. If I can do it most people can. It just takes finding the knowledge, committing to it, and reminding yourself of it as you play.

But I was spotted once, therefore I suck. LOL. I was actually disappointed there wasn’t more opportunities to open up with the guns.

Good video, as usual. I like the TRB instead of smoke, but it may be situational. I see you take Main Battery and AA Specialist. Is it worth the points for 5% faster main battery reload? No Priority Target or Incoming Fire Alert (I use IFA rather than PT to save the point, mainly for open water gun boats to know when to dodge) I guess your logic might be like mine, torp boat, don't get spotted. The new torpedo damage metric is double edged ships don't worry about you hitting them so are more inclined to turn into them, blocking them. Not that I don't try to play the same way before the damage change. But CoOp often turns into a furball.

This video was before the captains skill rework. The rework broke all of my old build links unfortunately and I don’t have time to go back and modify them for several hundred videos. This is why I specifically didn’t want to include links to build but relented on popular opinion.

@@destroyerkuroshiokai Right I understand. I remember the old Hayate video you had changed the build since you up loaded the video. Some of LittleWhiteMouse's reviews have a similar issue.

Excellent video. I really like how you explain your actions and thinking in these, thank you! What I'd like to ask is what's your take on the "Swift in Silence" commander skill for pure torp boats? Since a lot of the gameplay is about positioning, the extra speed seems quite advantageous in setting up good launches as well as giving an edge in trying to stay away from rival DDs and Cruisers on the hunt.

I’ve had discussions on Swift before. IMO it’s something of a bandaid skill. Yes the does is handy on a slower DD like Kagero but if you watch the mini map consistently you will have pretty good ideas where people are going to go minutes ahead of time and can plot an intercept course. You have your entire torp reload to get there. Personally I’d rather but my guns to make whatever reload I have better when I do have to fight with them. By playing in front of support nothing is going to rush you unless it suicides.
