The trouble with Dollartree at the moment is that before raising their prices they tried to fight inflation by reducing package sizes. Next they raised prices to do the same thing, but they still have the small package sizes. For the time being, I have decided to skip the store entirely. Finding deals is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Not worth the effort.

Ever since DT started carrying Hallmark cards a few years ago, it's been hard to buy greeting cards from any other store. And the fact that you can still get them 2 for $1 is fantastic! I agree with you that it takes some discernment to know which items to buy and which to leave there knowing that you can possibly get a better deal elsewhere.

I agree with most of your assessments BUT two things-ALL the stores are downsizing boxes and drink containers-not just DT. I just saw the smaller drinks and cake mixes in a local grocery. In regard to smaller cereals, some of us live alone and while the cost per ounce at Walmart may be cheaper, it’s no savings to me if it goes stale and I have to pitch it in the trash.

@@dianasimplifies I live in senior housing. We have tiny apartments with little cabinet space and small cabinets and refrigerators. It’s not practical for most of us to use our storage space that way-and half the time when I do that, the stuff ends up shoved to the back where I can’t get to it until someone comes to help me. I actually like the smaller containers of frosting. I seem to always have extra frosting left over when I buy the ones from the grocery store. I may have to try it out because I hate wasting frosting; usually eaten by my children. As for the small creamer, it's probably nice to keep in a camping box because who wants to bring their big one with them when they go camping. I'm also thinking that smaller sizes are great for college students who don't have tons of space in the dorms. Canned veggies are packed with salt. We buy frozen veggies. I've never priced frozen veggies out at Dollar Tree. Might need to do so.

When I was a kid you got 6 cups of batter from a cake mix. That's why you got 2 nice layers in 2 8" pans. For years now we have been getting 4 cups of batter from a cake mix. When I got into cake decorating I learned to stretch a cake mix to make a higher cake. To the dry cake mix add 1 c flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 teasp salt, 1 teasp baking powder. To the wet ingredients add these extras in addition to what you normally put in the mix 1 egg, 1 teasp vanilla, 3 Tablespoons oil and 1/2 water. You will have a beautiful full sized cake that tastes amazing. Might need 5 extra minutes to bake but just test with a toothpick. Hope this helps.

No boxed milk, only some of the almond milk. We don't buy the energy drinks, avoid the artificial colors and sugars so didn't check on those. The thing about canned food is if I need peas (for peas salad), corn, black beans or baked beans, as long as I’m there at DT I’ll grab ‘em. DT is around the block from my house but Walmart is 15 miles away, 30 round trip at over $6 a gallon, I’ll shop at DT. Plus we’re only two ppl. And the smaller sizes are for portion control. I’ve read that Costco & Sam’s Club make ppl fat bc their sizes are humongous. So sometimes less is more. But I do agree about most of the electronics & tea lights. We’ve all bought stuff that broke much sooner than expected & idk why they sell that garbage in the first place. Anyway, great reviews! TFS

In regards to the doggie Doo bags, I just use the plastic grocery bags. They are bigger, hold more on a pick up and you tie it off, put in trash.

What used to be the Betty Crocker brand of plastic storage containers and kitchen utensils is now McCormick. My local Dollar Tree stores still have school supplies, but not many--about 1/2 of an aisle. Those small sized cereals are great if you want to "sample" them or only need a cup or 2 for a recipe and don't want to buy a big box. I buy the cheap phone charger cords for traveling that way I don't feel bad if I forget and leave one (which did happen a few years ago). I have a Dollar General around the corner from my house that I shop before going to Dollar Tree. I find its often cheaper than Dollar Tree.

Great video! I agree with you on almost everything except some of the toilet paper. The Charmin Mega Roll I believe is worth it, if ur in a pinch. It’s 1 ply but it’s stronger like they say and thicker than that other 1 ply crap in the 4pk. But yes I usually get a good deal on Walmart brand 2 ply buying in bulk.

Honestly for soup I find pint sized glass jars like ball/mason jars or even the jars from like jams, pickles, etc to be better than other food storage containers I've had that seem to always leak soup! I also use those jars when I make iced tea in a big batch I have pint sized options right in my fridge ready to go

My store still has a school section. But it's massive 2 to 3 times the size of a normal dollar store.

Always get gift bags -- 2 for $1.25 and sometimes there are 3-5 to a pack.

The can of Pork and Beans is a good size and way cheaper at Dollar Tree. They used to have Hanover baked beans also but have not seen them in a few months. Loved them!

The pink Monster has always been my favorite, until I tried the Peach one a few weeks ago. Try it if you haven't!
