Something I'd point out with Machaka is their guys mostly have a base encumbrance of 2 rather than the usual 3 most humans in Dominions have. So they basically have reinvigoration 1 compared to everybody else, and they have the right magic paths to potentially attack the opposing army's fatigue while preserving their own troops' energy. That's the one situation I came up with where the basic Machaka Warrior feels like he could be a good unit choice, he's got encumbrance 2 while Ermor's Triarius for an extreme example has encumbrance 10. If you cast something like Darkness and everybody's flailing around missing most of their attacks, then there could quickly start to be a big att/def stat difference between your armies and you could start landing a lot of criticals while your units would just be impossible for them to hit. That could be particularly good combined with the fear effects Machaka can also bring, that might let them win battles against armies that'd crush them in a fair fight.

Yeah exactly, fatigue plays are a good tactic for you to use, especially if you start throwing in relief for your own troops on top to give you the fatigue advantage! Another good tactic is to use immobilising spells, things like earth meld/maws of the earth or wild growth to hold the enemy in place to make them harder to hit!

I like to use lions with Machaka but one a bit anoying thing about them is age... their starting age has wide rng range and you often recruit them with old age

I made a similar comment but deleted it, the lions seem to come in at age 10 now, maybe from the recent patch.

I love EA Machaka but wow, they have to be for me the hardest race to play. Dude.. Part of it is my fault, they have so much chrome, I tend to use sub-par units because they are so cool! Thanks for the video.

Yeah a lot of their roster is fairly specialised, but you can always fall back on the rhino clan, who are at their core pretty good especially with some buffs. But the main thing is to use what you find fun or thematic! Thanks a lot for watching!

Poison res doesn’t necessarily help against strong or death poison unless you have a ton of it. Certain undead can be killed by death poison for example

Even with dom 6 changes? Resists now deduct a percentage of total damage "overflow" after all, which seems significant for poison in particular, as it's already powerfully mitigated by things like regeneration

Oh yeah, they certainly can be killed by it, but they'll likely take many more hits than a non resistant unit would, obviously, which means that they may be able to deal with whatever threat they're facing and if they're a multilayered thug, like if they have regeneration or other damage reduction capabilities, then they'll be even more of a pain to deal with!

your videos have been helping me go from playing at a very basic, non magical level, to playing some real dominions. thank you very much! if i may request a nation overview, EA xibalba or anything xibalba would be really nice. no ones covered them at all for dom6 and my buddy im learning the game with really likes them. he's insisting on suffering through their difficulty curve. i think its a blind spot that could be targeted nicely. no worries if not and thank you again!

Dormant rainbow (biased to earth-nature for larger) is quite good e.g. to get water-earth cross path and the booster for high drake production from level 2 path mages at the right time....but if you see a merrow druid then best get it if you can.

Yeah it's a good shout! Those specialised rainbows are really useful to use, especially if you have a specific game plan like this going into it!
