Great video, as usual Some additional thoughts 1. Your shamans in communion can cast Relief in combination with Rigor Mortis at the same research level 2. Other death evocations like Bolt/Blast of Unlife got buffs in Dom 6 to be bigger AOE and in communions they can be cast much longer without gems 3. Shade beasts is another good non-national summon that is more mage turn efficient in Dom 6 and they get stat buffs from darkness which you can also easily cast

I won a MP game some months ago with "All Da Scales" build. Hard recommend for that. Prod3 is the main benefit, it helps you expand well with chariots. You are quite poweful during middlegame, so I see no need for anything else than than imprisoned pretender. You'll boost your Astral and communion access that way (E+S crafting combo). Also the amazing scales, well, scale in late game, so you should have some advantage in gold and gems. Potentially helps EA C'tis to overcome that onetrickpony stamp. Edit: I might've had Earth 5 and Heat 1, for another reinvg bless and potential to summon bigger earth things, even though we're not an earth nation. So maybe E3 is the better shout after all.

12:00 I think Twiceborn is probably just minimum 10 gems
@ChazzyBurger3 күн бұрын
So twiceborn is a 10 gem base spell, but it changes with every size point deviation from 3 by 3 gems, so a size 2 unit would cost 7 gems, a size 4 would cost 13 etc. Here I think it's basing it off the humanoid size of the crow clan as twiceborn can't work with animals, only humanoid now, so at the end of the day it is right!

1:00 For Storms it's generally best to deploy further back and hold to give the defenders a chance to get out of the gate where you can surround them. "Generally" because you might have trample or flight or some other solution to make their attempt to hold the breach futile 8:30 Murdering them instantly is one of those "other solution"s I mentioned. I think the bears are a bit squishy for front line troops unless you have a lot of buffs on them. The are fantastic at ripping down walls though.
@ChazzyBurger3 күн бұрын
Yeah I agree, it's usually better to go farther back, with how I planned this I wanted to get inside as fast as possible to attempt to nullify their ranged advantage. With how gate guards work now as well, the defending force usually gets gummed up around the gate, that and the pathing sends them into their own walls which isn't the best! The bears weren't the best tactical choice, that much I agree on, but I wanted the archers to fire on something that wasn't the nidbathed or the blenders, and given they only cost gems they were the sacrificial lamb, or bear, in this case!

Hey Chazzy. Pretty sure Immortal/ twiceborn casters drop globals when they die in 6, are you sure you have tested this?
@ChazzyBurger7 күн бұрын
After you mentioned this tested it again without mods, it does seem like twiceborning and immortal units now drop the globals, which isn't what I saw before at all! Wonder if it was a mod interaction causing it. Interestingly, if you simulacrum a unit after casting a global, and the simulacrum dies, the global remains up, so I'm wondering if the twiceborning and immortals dispelling the global is a bug, would be an interesting one to ask the developers!
@jimdee53197 күн бұрын
@@ChazzyBurger I think this makes sense and is intentional, because the Simacularim isn't the original caster it is a copy, and to twiceborn or reform as an immortal you have to die. It was the way you said in 5.
@xeroprotagonist7 күн бұрын
Something I'd point out with Machaka is their guys mostly have a base encumbrance of 2 rather than the usual 3 most humans in Dominions have. So they basically have reinvigoration 1 compared to everybody else, and they have the right magic paths to potentially attack the opposing army's fatigue while preserving their own troops' energy. That's the one situation I came up with where the basic Machaka Warrior feels like he could be a good unit choice, he's got encumbrance 2 while Ermor's Triarius for an extreme example has encumbrance 10. If you cast something like Darkness and everybody's flailing around missing most of their attacks, then there could quickly start to be a big att/def stat difference between your armies and you could start landing a lot of criticals while your units would just be impossible for them to hit. That could be particularly good combined with the fear effects Machaka can also bring, that might let them win battles against armies that'd crush them in a fair fight.
@ChazzyBurger3 күн бұрын
Yeah exactly, fatigue plays are a good tactic for you to use, especially if you start throwing in relief for your own troops on top to give you the fatigue advantage! Another good tactic is to use immobilising spells, things like earth meld/maws of the earth or wild growth to hold the enemy in place to make them harder to hit!

I think you should have mentioned that a lot of the globals in Dom6 are tied to the province they are cast in (often doing something special for that province) and if that province is captured the global go down. For those globals, this is often the easiest way to take down the global.

Probably should've mentioned that as well, I tried to keep this as generic as possible to keep the time down, but that is probably something I should've mentioned! I'll pop you up the top so others can see!

I would like to see explanaition for thrones of ascension... i know that they work as victory points but never understood why ppl like playing with them so much when they can screw your dominion so much.
@vagrant28638 күн бұрын
It's probably for three major reasons. Before Thrones were a thing (Dom 3) the main victory method was Conquer All which took a REALLY long time. Second reason would be that they are neat gem generator sites and draw attention to the map in neat ways (not always good in default maps). They also give the occasional sacred buff which is nice.
@ChazzyBurger3 күн бұрын
Of course, I'll add it to the list! The main reason is as @vagrant2863 said, they do cut down on the time of games, especially in multiplayer. It also gives some fun comeback mechanics through things like throne rushes that lets weaker nations win the game!
@yugonostalgia89618 күн бұрын
@chazzyburger I've always thought that EA Mictlan is by far the best mesoamerican nation to play Scales. (yes, good scales for mictlan). In the MA & LA your opponents & indie troops are just too strong, but EA your generic troops are quite decent, lots of slings & cheap units, and your Moon Warriors can smack the rare heavily armored troop around With low EA population, having blood sacred access is not a guarantee for lategame survival. You hellbless your jaguars and you just wont have the population to field both mages & sacreds like you can in LA. Instead, i think you should use your blood access to summon reanimators, assasins, onaqui, & Tzitzimitl. With magic you'll be able to have decent research as mictlan, growth can keep your pop up, and Order will let you spam turkeys & flaming arrows slingers. In theory, this should make a more reliable, consistent nation but perhaps weak to early rushes if you can't get flaming arrows out in time. However, I'm not good or brave enough to test this theorycrafting in a real game. @chazzyburger Thoughts?
@ChazzyBurger3 күн бұрын
You could certainly try them with scales, and out of the three ages EA is the one to go for, as you say their competition is probably the least equipped, though you are fighting against more mythical units like more giants etc. If you went a scales build you would really want to play to your strengths, go heavy into slingers with hail of burning embers or serpent fang arrows, though the embers would be the way to go as serpent fangs rely on damage to get the poison through. With your increased economy you can focus more on getting your forts up and mass turkeys for relatively cheap communions to follow your armies, getting buffs like barkskin off on them to improve their protection will help a lot. You probably as well want to get strength buffs through your blood as you don't have easy earth access as they'll help your slingers a lot. With a minor bless you can focus more on your Eagle warriors to help you expand as well, you'll take attrition on them but they are a major help in your initial expansion. The main idea behind a hellbless is to try and take a neighbours cap anyway to supplement your income, if you can't do that you're a little bit screwed, which this scales build can help you with. Let me know how you get on in your tests!
