Great advice. Prices have been creeping up this week. Looks like they are planning on dropping prices when new products get announced at CES next week. Trick retailers do to make sales look even better is to adjust up right before they go on sale.

I'm not even trying to get a new PC right now but that APU news of having a gtx 1060 in your CPU is actually something I'm really excited for, makes 1080p low end minecraft/fortnite machines possible for maybe $400 for young ones

if you wanna play minecraft with shaders (the best way to experience the game in my opinion) then that cpu won’t be enough graphically. for fortnite you’ll struggle heavily in battle royale with competitive settings. even my 1660 super and 5600 is struggling to hit 144 frames in 1656x1080 resolution. horrible 1% lows too.

@@TheeAcid I have a Ryzen 3 3100 and 1660 super and I'm hitting above 144 at 1920x1080 perfectly fine at the lowest graphics settings Epic view distance, I don't experience many stutters but I haven't played after they undid the OG map update

Started buying stuff around black friday, probably saved about 300€ from it, just missing a ram kit and a decent budget case. Quite literally the 26th right after christmas prices shot up, my tuf b650 went from 179€ up to ~270€ and my 7600x went from 219€ to 319€.

I had my list together, ready to do a low end build that's plenty for what I do (5600/6600) but in the last couple days the 5600 jumped up $70 and the 6600 went up almost $200 (I can get a 6700 xt for $10 less than a 6600 not xt on newegg Canada right now). With that being the case, taking your advice is pretty easy. If my budget stuff is gonna cost that much, might as well upgrade the build a little.

Actually, after taking another look, the cheaper 6600 sold out, the price didn't change. I was just seeing the prices for the ones actually available right now. Same net result, just not the price jump I thought it was.

Im from Canada too and I've started purchasing my parts this week. It's actually a good time to get parts because of the end of year salesand people getting rid of their parts. I got some new and used stuff. You just gotta mix good priced used parts with on sale new parts and you'll be good.

@@1onejotarokujo Can't do it. I know it's dumb but it's just my thing. I don't buy used electronics. Can't make myself trust it. Budget isn't really the issue though, it's more about not spending for more than I need for what I do just to be able to say "I have (whatever)." Nothing wrong with doing that, it's just not important to me.

Interesting. I have a 13400 in a $430 HP prebuilt I bought on Black Friday. It's an excellent CPU, in my opinion, especially since it's a drastic upgrade from my previous prebuilt which had an 8400.

I recently built my cousin’s son a “budget” build with a mix of new and spare parts. I3-12100F (new), my old RTX 2070 and spare 32 gb ddr5. I’ll tell him to aim at upgrading to the 14400 in year or two.

I think processors wise, its not a huge benefit to wait it out. Graphics cards however is good to tough it out and see what they reveal. Not to mention we won't know what the availability would look like.

As someone who builds and sells PCs on the side, I personally don't think this will hurt too much. Really this will probably just help some prices come down in the future. For me, I've been sticking to lower-midrange used gpus anyway.

@@max417481 With that budget, you can get just about any higher end laptop. I would recommend you go with AM5 platform and RTX 40 series like a 4070 or 4070ti with ddr5 and gen 4 ssd

I looked into storage recently and found heaps of links saying it is going to go up, and heaps of links saying it is going to go down. 🤨 I played it safe and bought a 2TB Kingston Fury Renegade and a 4TB Lexar NM790. Large (4TB) m.2's and 2.5" ssd's have always been overpriced, hdd's still have a place because of it.

I think you should pull the trigger and buy everything. The 7800xt is an excellent 1440p card that won’t go down is price by too much since it was recently released. Just built a PC with the 7900xt and 7800x3d and it’s awesome.

Depends on the 4080S' price point. If it comes out at 999USD AMD might drop their price as they tend to want to offer more value than nvidia. They also might not as their card will likely still 8gigs more Vram and faster raster performance. I originally picked up my 7900xtx thinking if the 4080S comes out around the same price I'll return it and pick that up. But I've honestly been so impressed by my experience with the XTX I don't know if I care what nvidia does.

Is this also the case for high end hardware? I wanted to order a rx 7900xtx and a ryzen 7 7800x3d today. Now I am scared to buy those parts but since the new Nvidia GPUs will only cover the upper mid range segment (besides the 4080 Super which will cost more than the 4080 and therefore is to expensive anyway) I don’t suppose that the prices will change noticeably. I would highly appreciate it if someone could tell me their opinion on that :)

I'm speccing out a parts list for a 7800X3D + 7900XT build for 4K gaming, my first upgrade since my first PC back with 9th-gen Intel, and I'm still unsure about when to pull the trigger. I'd like to bump the GPU up to the 7900XTX if my budget can handle it; is there a chance that AMD will think that the new RTX 4070 Ti Super will be better value proposition than the XTX and drop its price a bit? I just need a little more room in my budget to justify it. Also, over the last couple days the 7800X3D jumped $30-$50 in price or just outright sold out at some retailers; I hope that reverses course soon.

Both are great, but the 5700XT will be faster. If you like ray tracing get the 2060 super though.

An APU is basically a graphics chip inside the CPU. Its meant for basic tasks like web browsing and some very light gaming. They're primarily used in use cases where you don't need much graphics power, like in basic home PCs or basic business systems. Things like browsing youtube or writing documents don't require much graphics processing power which is where APUs work well. You can't "combine" an APU and graphics card for extra performance. Even if you somehow were able to do that, its extremely unlikely there would be any notable performance gains as APUs usually aren't that good for graphics tasks.

So I am planning to build my PC, yesterday I went to retail store to build PC with 7600x but I heard new Ryzen 5 8000 series coming. So my question is, is this going to be available in Jan or I have to wait more 2-3 months? Or should I build my PC with Ryzen 5 7600x? I am building the PC for gaming / streaming ( Valo ) and adobe PR or Ae for montage or gameplay videos. Please suggest me Scatter!

The CPUs you want to wait for won’t actually come out until the fall of this year. AMD 8000 APUs are coming next week (same architecture as 7000)

I think 8000 series is apu focused, the 9000 series will be the new 7000 series.

I mean, you can build a Medium/High 1080p rig for $150-$200. So it depends on your budget and what you want to do. If you plan on spending $2,000+ and wanna game now, but could wait longer, build a Marketplace PC for the mean time. It'll still be an enjoyable experience for the price

I was gonna wait, but on the 4th I seen the 7900xtx on sale on amazon for 799$ and I scooped it up, I had no choice lol, sale only lasted about an hour after I purchased the card so I'm glad I did.

lucky for me, I'll have to save to build my next pc, putting away £80 every week to build an Am5 pc, so gonna be around March time before I get my new pc, around £1500 worth, so plenty of time for the new upgrades to settle in.

What's the best CPU for 3080. I currently have the 3600x which is bottlenecking my 3080 heavily so im looking for a good AM4 upgrade. I was personally thinking the Ryzen 7 5800x but if there is any better for the price please recommend

I personally wait for the new stuff to be released. But when the new hardware is finally released I wait for the new stuff to come down in price as it's the newest hardware available so you're going to pay more. Problem is by the time the prices comes down I usually hold off because the new releases are coming out next month. Hence my current PC is from 2013 and I'm starting to lose my mind chasing my tail.
