The tempered glass version also fits with this cooler (but might be out of budget). You just need to take off the decorative caps at the top of the heatsink which cover the heat pipes (two screws on the top plate) - I run a similar build but with a Ryzen 5600 and rtx 3070 with two fans on the top and get temps around 65c-70c when gaming under load. While the TG does turn things into a little hotbox, I just can't resist staring at what I've built, I'm a sucker for the RGB lighting!

I would go with Thermalright PS120SE CPU cooler. Costs about 40(22 if you can get it from Taobao) and performs at Noctua NH-D15 level all the while fitting in the NR200. The Hyper 212 is basically the bottom line for cpu cooler performance for cooler benchmarks.

@Shieftain
@Shieftain 4 ай бұрын
@@stycks3008 I don't know what the max is, but Gamers Nexus did a review of the non-SE version (which is barely different from the SE) using a 3950X overclocked to 4.2GHz and running at 198 watts, and even when it was noise normalized to 35 decibels (which is equivalent to a quiet library) the average temperature under heavy load was around 77.4 degrees Celsius, which I believe is well within the safe margins. Basically it should be okay even for an i9 14900K so long as you limit the power consumption to roughly under 200 watts (you only lose less than 3% performance on average when limiting it to 200W vs stock 253W by the way).
@maozedowner5915
@maozedowner5915 4 ай бұрын
@@stycks3008 It can cool any non HEDT CPU. This includes 13900k / 14900k. The CPU won't be drawing 300w with it but it should be over 250w. You're not gaining much more frequency boosting over 200w anyway let alone 250w.

If someone wants to replicate this build, then I would advise to change some of the parts because there are parts that are a better choice for the same or cheaper price. CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black -> Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE RAM: GSkill Trident Z Neo 16GB 3600 CL18 -> Corsair LPX 16GB 3600 CL18 SSD: Crucial P2 1TB -> Intel 670P 1TB The Thermalright Phantom Spirit is simply an amazing air cooler for the price that has similar performance to the legendary Noctua NH-D15. The Hyper 212 Black (2023) doesn't come close. The RAM changed to low profile because cheaper, fits better, and same specs. SSD changed because same capacity, DRAM cache, and cheaper.

Great setup at this budget. I have this exact case and couldn't be happier with it. In terms of temperature management, it stands out as one of the best ITX cases available, albeit slightly larger. With that said, based on my testing and based on the testing done by Machines & More, I recommend moving the 2 bottom fans to the top for the best temps. The bottom fans are mostly optional and primarily contribute to reducing GPU temps during idle, likely due to modern GPU fans not spinning at idle. Additionally, make sure you have enough room at the bottom for the standard 120mm fans. In my case, I have the Asus RTX 4070 Dual, which is roughly a 2.5-slot GPU, and I can only accommodate slim fans. Standard fans already come into contact with the GPU, which is suboptimal for minimizing turbulence.

I built in this case recently and I have to say, cable managing the PSU is _very_ important if you've got a card like an FE with a passthrough fan. Otherwise you risk those cables coming out of the PSU dropping straight into that fan. Not a concern at all with normal dual/triple fan cards. I ended up using slim noctua fans on top as exhaust and rotating the CPU cooler 90 degrees to exhaust upwards as well (Noctua will give you a 90 degree adapter for free if you're using one of their products) for negative pressure since the case includes dust filters for the bottom and both sides. Wow, i spent 3k on a setup that was just slightly more powerful. This was in 2020 of course. 32 gb cl18 ram, 5900x, 3080ti strix, 4+2 tb pcie4 m.2 ssd. Its been great for gaming, code compilation and writing code, video editing, and some 3d modeling. My previous pc was a i7 4790k with a GTX 970, a 1 TB HDD, and 16gb of RAM, so that in and of itself was a huge upgrade. Id like to wait for 1 or two more generatiojs of GPUs before upgrading again

Awesome video as always! I'm impressed by how much info you managed to squeezed into a 10 min video (or <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="599">9:59</a> I guess lol) also, are you interested in checking out the zaunkoenig M3K? The first batch will drop on the 17th of dec and I would love to see your opinion on it if you could manage to get your hands on it.

Why not a Radeon GPU for a budget build?

Bro, this is the shit. This is what I love to see. Not everyone can afford the highest end stuff, and this is an amazing configuration for the price, especially considering the ITX form factor. Great video, man.

poor advice... only 16GB RAM but with RGB?! Who cares about RGB in a budget build? Rather take 32GB non-RGB? Especially DDR4-3200 sticks are damn cheap, it wouldn't have broken the budget.
@Cainny
@Cainny 3 ай бұрын
Dude, the difference between 16 to 32gb is a huge jump when you compare it to the $5 he spent on the tiniest bit of rgb. It's not even a set in stone build. Build it how you want it.
@NeePscambaiting
@NeePscambaiting 3 ай бұрын
@@Cainny if you/he care about saving $5 then you shouldn't spend it on RGB at all. RGB is useless and just a way of wasting money if you don't care about it.

New work PC build -- excellent vid as always, and thanks for highlighting the used GPU market, there's so many DEALS out there, and re-using is always better than recycling!

Interesting. With windows 11 these days I have yet to need to install drivers pre/during install. I did update the BIOS before OS install, but mainly to just prevent previous/next gen CPU compatibility issues with the board. Definitely can’t hurt though! Great video

If you put a couple of slim fans in the bottom and exhaust fans in the top it makes all the difference temp wise in that case.
