The other day I was at mma practice and got on a chokehold, and when I was almost passing out I finally understood the difference between が and は. Thank god I keep taking my pre workout before my immersion. Aussie cured all my language learning disabilities

Makes so much sense. I always make sure to not tap to chokes so I can go to sleep and learn new grammar concepts

Bro, I rate your channel as one of the top 5 language learning channels on YT. I am not a newbie to language learning and I've clicked around at least 20 different language coach channels over the last 6 plus years and definitely yours is top notch. You get right to the point and you bring together the pieces of the puzzle of what it takes to learn a hard language like Japanese via immersion. You don't make all kinds of exaggerated claims and gave vague advice. You break it down in all the main aspects needed. Your content helped me put things together properly and now it's on me to get in gear and put the effort into immersion. Thanks

I totally agree about being fit. I was obese since I was a kid and I didn't realize it at the time but it definitly destroyed my motivation for almost everything. I was never motivated to put in hard work at university so I kept getting low grades and then when I turned 20 I decided to lighten my course load by around half and take some time to go to the gym and do some cardio (was focussing on losing weight instead of muscle building). The extra time I took off plus the endorphin boost from jogging really helped me to focuss on studying and I was able to get more done in a shorter period of time. I may have extended my university time by a few years but the lack of stress and weight loss really went a far way in terms of grades, focuss and enjoying life. Now whenever some asks me for advice I just tell them to try excersise and simplify your life as much as you can. I wanted to ask because I never heard it in your videos but what is your goal for learning Japanese? Do you want to work there eventually?

Simplifying your life, incorporating excersize and enjoying your life like that really does make such a difference doesn't it Initially I didn't have an exact goal other than just wanting to be able to make some Japanese friends but at this point the thing that encourages me to get better is I really reckon it would be awesome oneday to get to compete in RIZIN there someday and try to build my name up in Japan

Health is definitely gonna be my #1 goal going forward. I feel like my entire 4 years have been like your first year, in that I get way less from my time spent in japanese due to bad general health (bad sleep, low exercise, bad diet), and dropping everything including all other hobbies for japanese. Like when I started japanese I was actually in the middle of losing weight and eating better and progressing very well! And then I dropped every one of those good habits because I was too obsessed with increasing how much time I was spending on japanese lol. Definitely regret it but live and learn right? It’s like that cliche quote of “the second best time to plant a tree is now”; cliche but true lol
@oojiman

Yeah its cliche but very true haha. Always hard to manage too many things at once tho isnt it, really felt that in that first yearm Definitely gonna be a lot better once you get back on with what you were doing before learning Japanese tho aye

not learning Japanese but European Portuguese here. The same things apply to every language that one might want to learn. One of the biggest trap of a language that is closer to the language one is speaking (English is closer to portuguese than Japanese, obv), is to think it's easier to learn it, cuz then one will slack off on their learning, thinking "it will be easy"... so, it IS important to build discipline what so ever.

The mind and body aren’t separate. Mental and physical health are so important in these pursuits.👍🏼 Also the amount of time people spend obsessing over e-celebs and drama online they probably could have already become fluent in their target language.🤷🏼‍♂️

Not related to the video but a suggestion of a KZfaq channel you might like しゅくろーから夜ふかし。They are like a 恋愛 bro talk channel. Their videos are targeted towards girl but they are quite funny and speak 関西弁。
