@CDOES their FastRoad Pro ride amazing on the street, confident you’d be very happy with them as an upgrade to the stock shocks and springs. The car will feel way sportier but not too stiff or harsh.

The note about getting catalogue parts makes sense. Sure stuff is off the shelf but the magic is how they get the parts to work together and squirt oil with the perfect flow

I do want to clarify that many of the internals are designed and manufactured by us. But we are very transparent that we will use top hats and brackets from overseas manufacturers when we can to bring high end damper tech to the masses.

I got to meet Grant and tour their facility with the 86drive community a couple years ago when they were developing the first clubspec coilover for the frs/brz. These guys really know what they're doing and take the proper time in r&d to make proper coilovers for vehicles. if I ever need coilovers for whatever vehicle I own I will always go to annex.

Love these conversations, as an engineer in this field its always good to hear an expert simplify it to a point it makes sense in layman terms. To his comment on super high rebound basically it means the wheel won’t ever drop, think pot hole or post curb hoop… the body of the car will fall into the hole or drop making a super harsh return to plane without any travel to “soak up” the terrain. Balance is clearly key between body control and ability to eat terrain, what makes the difference between proper and poor damping is its ability to breath over the terrain/street/road/etc.

on track inverted mono is good because the structure and temperature advantage, but on public road the twin tube is way better on comfort
@AnnexSuspensionGroup
@AnnexSuspensionGroup 6 ай бұрын
I think this is debatable. Carefully valved inverted is quite nice too. Ohlins R&T is a good example of this.
@jinxtacy
@jinxtacy 6 ай бұрын
I think part of the confusion is that most people's experience with mono are Bilstein and they compare them to adjustable Konis. The Bilsteins just transmits so much more of the road into the cabin thanks to the high air pressure that they typically utilize. I've seen much improved rides on Bilstein's simply by lowering the charged air pressure. The twin tube Konis option have much slower air pressure and a lot of times if you look at how they handle bumps they take a lot of the edge off a lot of the small stuff, but when you really get them moving they ramp up pretty hard. Unfortunately, the tropes from BMW owners have kind of been misleading as to creating these rules of mono versus twin. I Love how many companies are out there now sharing information. I think the big negative of an inverted monotube is just the higher maintenance associated with it but you get it back in strength and lightening the stress seen by the shaft which I'm sure of many of us have seen bend. It seems like a good option for McPherson cars especially since the top nut can be quite large since you wouldn't be eating up space within the cylinder if you were to run a larger diameter shaft. I'm trying to wrap my head around if it is less spring away as well since a greater portion of the weight will now be directly affixed to the car. Annexes is really cool because they take knowledge and theory and then go test it and learn. It's kind of cool to have anl Shockworks-esque shop stateside.

I don't think this is black or white - if you increase the shaft diameter or the bushing size, a traditional shock rod may be just fine. But it's worth noting that normal GR Corollas have a conventional shock rod but a Morizo has inverted monotube =)
