I grew up with 90’s Japanese cars. Honda was really on their game in those years. I would keep it sweet and simple. Period correct. B16. Gauge cluster (needs a tach). Mild drop. Nothing crazy. So looking forward to this build. Keep up the great work guys.

B16 is past its prime. It was a good engine in the late 80's, early 90's. By the end of the 90's, it was dated. B20VTEC is the norm for most 90's NA Hondas now.

I think an oem plus build would be great for this. Covert to disc on all 4 corners, shocks, springs & sway bars, cool wheel and tire package. Clean up the engine bay and a couple of power adders nothing too crazy (header, intake injectors, full exhaust system & maybe a period correct performance style valve cover). Oh and a full paint respray to color match all the panels with the same OE color or close to if possible. I would leave the interior as is maybe freshen up the mats in the rear with actual mats and maybe a shift boot and knob.

Man, this really takes me back. My dad had a '93 Civic EX 5-speed. And speaking of old ladies banging gears, my mom's daily driver is still a 6-speed '02 RSX Type-S. My sister and I both learned to drive manual on that car, and the original clutch still lasted to 170k miles. To this day, that's the best manual transmission I've ever used.

90s era Honda are my favorite. My dad had a '93 Accord SE coupe 5 spd that he bought new my junior year of college. Amazing looking car, and was a great long range cruiser. About 10 years ago, I looked for one to buy and restore to give him, but I could never find one that didn't have tons of damage or rust.

A modest build with a B or D16Z6/Y8 swap would be sick! Those older motors sound great and let you keep A/C easily, which might be nice since the interior is so daily-able.

Great find! I have bought and driven many of these old school Honda’s over the years, so fun! If in your shoes, go oem plus. I still have a mint crx and dc2 integra, and they look stock except lowered slightly with very strong lightweight new wheels. The engines are both b series, as that was the engine of choice back then, still old school, yet performed ahead of it time….good luck, I’ll watch upcoming episodes!

I've had 2 EG hatchbacks, 1 EF hatchback, and a 95 GSR. All my civics had swapped engines and various bits from the integra models as upgrades. Because yours is such a classic, I'd do a really simple build: -94+ integra front knuckles/spindles - gets you larger brakes and calipers that are OEM. swap in the integra LS master cylinder and booster at the same time. -94+ integra or 92+ civic Si rear trailing arms - gets you rear disk brakes. don't forget the e-brake cables and the 4040 proportion valve so your brake bias is good. -B20 engine with GSR transmission. for a street car, the extra torque will be very nice, and should make good power with basic bolt-ons. if you drive a lot of highway, maybe an LS trans. -The GSR engine would be fun too (8100rpm redline!), but you'd have to spend more money, so it just depends on your budget. -Gotta have some period-correct 15x7" rims of some flavor. My last civic had rotas, because I couldn't afford real SW88s. 205/50/15 tires are a perfect fit -Other little things, like poly shifter bushings (make a huge difference), rear sway bar kit, and a basic stereo upgrade.

God I love it boys! I first scoped eyes on that four door beauty when you were teasing it earlier. I’ve actually owned two of these sedans before and regret letting them go. I’d be so happy to see a nice respectful build to what the sedan could have been back in the day. But like you said keep it respectful for what that car is truly holding onto. Maybe b or h swap, maybe d turbo but man it’s just such a great chassis that should live on for as long as we can help it can.

This is really clean. As someone who grew up learning how to drive on these mid 90s hondas...this one has really survived. Never ever imagined I'd be jealous of someone with a stock base model civic...one that I would have laughed my ass back in the day off if someone spent $1000 picking it up. I've got hundreds of hours of ass time in one that was exactly the same colour and spec. Love to see it built up in the original colour with some tasteful mods and maybe a B18! I've got a great set of 15x7 et25 (or 28, i forget) 5 spokes in the basement that would be absolutely ideal for it with a refinish, but I'm like 6 provinces away.

Had a 96 Civic LX sedan back in high school right when Fast and Furious came out. Had dreams for the car that never happened, it just stayed a commuter trooper. Only upgrade was it went to 15 inch alloys from a slightly newer model. Funny thing was it was an automatic and had a tacho while this manual doesn't have one and needs it. Sad thing about it was it was silver and there were a million silver Civic sedans so finding the car in a large parking lot was difficult. No remote locks/alarm to help find. Just had to remember where it was and start sticking the key into the lock hoping for the best.

What an amazing video! I own an EG8 for about two years (it´s my first car and I always wanted an eg sedan). I bought the car bone stock even though it probably has been modified at some point in i his life. I only did brakes and handling upgrades and the car is amazing to drive! I installed front and rear OEM VTI sway bars, VTI brakes front and back, rear hardrace LCAs´s, Mts struts with eibach springs. The car is still confortable for long trips and its super super on the twisties :D. And im rocking the fat five vti wheels too (here in portugal we had a bunch of eg9s and theres some parts avaibale used with some luck). Btw the car has a D15b2 with 90cv all original with 302k km. Theses sedans are getting harder and harder to find, the majority has rusted or has been scraped. Hope you guys can transfor this sedan into a even better machine! I would consider installing eg9 brakes and sway bars at least :D it makes a hell of a difference ( eg9 full swap would be a really nice project!)

Oh man, the memories, my dad used to have an EG 93 sedan with a d15 carburetor engine, auto trans, that I used to drive a lot when I was 15 in 1999, I live in the Caribbean and at that time in my country there were not a lot of highway patrol officers so I was never stopped for driving without a permit, but my dad taught me how to drive stick since 12-13 in and old 85 Toyota Land Cruiser that we used to have and I secretly drove that thing when he was traveling due to work around the block in my neighborhood until I was 15 and with the EG I was allowed to drive first with his supervision on highways and travel to different cities. I have a ton of fun with the EG and the memories that I still remember to this day, I was heartbroken when my dad sold it and I was trying to see if I could still find it and buy it back.

If it was up to me on how I'd enhance this sedan (factory mugen interpretation): -Keep the original color -B20 swap with B18 head and long leaders -6 Spd Gearbox -All Poly (not spherical that's too hard) bushings/mounts. -Adjustable all things suspension and KW or BC or Hard Race coilovers. Moton if you have a house in your wallet. -Very nice exhaust (thickest stainless I could find for depth/tone) and resonator -Lightweight 16in wheels (my preference is Yokohama/ADVAN but Enkei makes some nice ones. Might even try and grab an OEM Honda Enkei in the size/offset for sleeper effect. Makes me miss my 95 DX 2 door, Same color, 5 speed. Those engines were so good , they just loved to get beated on all day even though they were so slow. But that engine could take it all day long!

I got a 92 ex sedan with a manual, keep it single cam and do some light suspension and brakes upgrades, go for the oem + vibe

9:43 The 6-disk CD changers were an option for all Hondas and Acuras. All headunits were CD changer controllers I do remember Alpine made the headunits so you could actually buy an Alpine CD changer instead of a OEM Honda changer and it be plug-and-play.

This thing is fresh asf dude!!! Great find!!! If It was me, i think a period correct (as possible) mods would fit this best. B16 swap, 15 inch wheels, some low and restore the exterior where possible. Maybe some period correct looking seats too, i think they'd look great in there too.

That thing is so clean! Not even a sigarette burn in the seats! For a car of that period that is as rare as they come. My first car was 99' Accord with alsmost 300K on the clock. Apart from some damages on the bumpers and some minor scratches that engine still sounded better then a brand new VW. It was a good first car. 🎉

I had a 94 DX sedan with a stick. Shame it was totalled, it was pretty clean. And a nice blue.

I have a similar blue 1995 civic sedan LX, but this thing was a sh*tbox when I bought it for 400 bucks. And so far I’ve done integra seats, integra rear sway bar, with rear lower control arms, integra type R shift boot and the integra leather wrapped steering wheel while keeping the Honda air bag. I’ve put 7th gen civic wheels (the multi spoke ones). I plan on doing integra front knuckles so I can do the bugger 10.3 inch rotors with wilwood 4 piston calipers and the integra rear trailing arms for disc brake conversion in the rear (obviously upgrading the master cylinder, booster and prop valve) and lowering it on Tein springs with new shocks. And to top it off, keep the d15b7 but do a d16y6 head for the “mini swap” to have vTec. Great score guys, can’t wait to see what y’all do with this one!

Definitely a turbo D series build needed. 350whp and 40+mpg. Stock looking wheels or possibly even run hubcaps from a larger oem honda wheel. Tad bit lower but still a soft ride. Oem everything on the outside and inside. Would be perfect!

My BIL had a red base '94 manual as an airport car for YEARS. At 14, I learned how to drive stick on it. Eventually, he sold it with over 200k miles on the clock to a family for their kid's first car. I bet it's still kicking around out there.

I can attest to finding gems in Victoria. As I live here I constantly see old stock cars like this everywhere. People keep their cars forever here.
