Imagine having that kind of childhood

I mean it probably wasn't as bad as it sounds, I'm sure she had a good childhood and by that I would think they were able to go into the forest and explore and play around and because they had basically no restrictions, they would need some way to call them back for some reason or another, so a bell would be the indication to head back home for food, or to sleep or for whatever reason. (this being my first time hearing this and seeing her) but it sounds like she was raised as some dog or something, like it sounds like she wasn't allowed in the house unless it was for food, and I'm guessing for sleep.

Yes! In Germany as well! Kids would always play outside everyday and we’d go into the forest once a week. Sometimes we’d make a fire and grill some food, sometimes we’d visit animals there and learn about the plants, mushrooms and folklores about certain areas. Or we’d make art out of leafs and stones and other things wend find. Now that I’m an adult I really appreciate having the luxury of being outside and exploring nature as a child.

Words can't describe how much I would love to experience this. Unfortunately where I live there are not really accessible forests. We have rainforests, but they are miles away from the city and very dangerous. The biggest ones are protected (you have to pay to enter) and most of the other ones are in mountains and super cold. Closest thing to an accessible forest we have here are clusters of trees along roads or parks. Which is still alright, but you have to be a bit older to get to them because you have to cross streets. Oh what I would give to live in Europe haha

It's a term made up by white people who misunderstand Native American cultures who feel it mocks their culture. Their connections to animals are often tied to family and tribe, it's not like "oh, I think this animal is cool" the way white/non-native people use it to mean which is trivializing. If someone feels a genuine connection to a certain animals surely they could use another way of describing it that doesn't have a history of dehumanizing Indigenous people there's an article titled "please stop using the term spirit animal" that's pretty short and to the point if you want to read from someone more eloquent than me. thanks for being polite
