Could emotional detachment at work be the reason you aren’t getting noticed? Learn to recognize and use your unique edges to stand out by creating powerful emotional connections to your work. April Hansen is a nurse, tech entrepreneur, workforce expert and hyper growth business executive inspired by everyday leaders who do their work well, face their human doubts, and find a way to thrive even through chaos. From being a nurse in a small town to helping lead the largest deployment of healthcare personnel in our nation’s history, April has unearthed key insights on the art and science of creating happier careers and healthier workplaces where we all reach our full potential. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

April, what a great TED Talk. Research clearly supports your premise - that bringing our emotional selves to work is key. Rarely are arguments won, products sold, or people transformed simply by data/numbers. Figuring out 'our edges' and not 'smoothing them out' is great advice for all of us. THANK YOU for sharing.

Funny she speaks about breakthrough. See I find that as a Christian woman, when I feel at my lowest points, I feel that I’m not getting where I need to go or where I thought I’d be, it’s that very resistance where I know that in those moments of challenges, doubts, insecurity that breakthrough is just on the other side. It’s in those moments you push your faith beyond the boundaries and believe me, I’ve seen it, I’ve experienced and God’s promise has never failed me. This TedTalk was great! Thank you for confirming what I truly believe that I’m experiencing at this moment. And my edges are compassion and passion. Thank you!
