Go to the caves and gather Light Bulbs, you've already done that to make a lantern but gather more to make enough lanterns for everyone, then gather more. In fact, gather as much as you can because they will all turn into rot which will give you a ton. Even better though, take these lightbulbs and place them next to a werepig and he will eat them all and poop every time resulting in, well, a shitload of poop. Doing this you should have far more poop than you can reasonably use and can build massive farm plots if you choose (dragonfruit being the best plant).

Umbrella only gives y'all 90% wet resistance, so you guys will STILL get wet. Gotta also wear something else to bump it up to at least 100%. Rik's helmet adds 20% resistance so that's a good match up.

Wigfrid can make you spears and helmet guys. Also the traps? you need alot more of them and make like a spare base where is just fire and the traps all around, but you NEED to FIGHT them too! Also, summer base with trees around? Not a good choice :) Next thing, cook the things in your icebox! Make meatballs or dragonpies or stuff! Next thing - make a tent to sleep and restore sanity :) Also I always pick everything I find on my way anywhere, you never know when you need rot - for example for the berry bushes :) even the seeds are good when you don't have anything to eat :) for the fire you can use floorings :)

Next time simply go to the beefalos durring hounds attack. Hounds become bored after some unsucelsful hits and will attack something else. beefalos are very strong and can take out some hounds

Dragon fruit is used to make dragon pies a great food source. You guys should also clean your inventories and keep your health up with spider glands which are easy to farm since you have Webber. Watch a tutorial
