I am confused as to why people say that Dave is "hating" on Prince Ea. He is just pointing out Ea's mistakes about mental health and such.

I think Prince Ea was trying to say that people who suffer from depression shouldn't define themselves by the condition, since that will only worsen the problem. Instead they should try to view themselves in ways that will give them strength to combat their depression. He wasn't trying to deny the legitimacy of the suffering. He was trying to give advice that would possibly help people ease their suffering.

In all seriousness, I ignored my depression for years because I thought it was normal, because people with the same mindset of Prince Ea kept telling me that it was normal, it would go away, “why are you letting this get to you”, etc. It DESTROYED my mental health. Not to mention I had undiagnosed ADHD, and had people telling me I was slow, lazy, and dumb. People who thought like Prince Ea made IRREVERSIBLE damages to my mental health. To anyone reading this, STOP TELLING PEOPLE “EVERYONE DEALS WITH THIS”.

In regards to the depression video, all I can say is "Prince Ea, you don't suffer from depression. Don't tell those who do what it's like." Ironically, we can rephrase this as "You are not depressed. Stop it.".

The problem with this Prince EA is that he says things really confidently, and in a way that you just WANT to believe him. A lot of people don’t look up things that they see on KZfaq which leaves them to spred this false information

as someone with adhd it just makes me disappointed that now because of him someone could tell me "oh bro just put your phone down thatll fix it" , and even then him talking only about impulsivity and attention span is no where near what adhd is actually like for someone, because of your impulsiveness you arent accepted normally and end up isolating yourself, people consistantly tell you "its not that hard to remember something" because adhd makes it hard for someone to do a constructed set of tasks with no specific explinations, and you have to find ways to make yourself work which for me i couldnt even find something that worked until this year, and if you dont work you become unmotivated and start hating yourself which altogether leads up to another mental illness to put in the pile. its frustrating that so many people have misconceptions of these disabilities just because you cant see them and they dont understand. (also thanks dave for explaining it shortly and very well)

I've been depressed. Depression doesn't come and go, once it's there, it's always there. On your better days/weeks/months/years, you can just control your emotional reactions better and not automatically slip into the negativity. That doesn't mean it's gone, cos it can hit you again.

A year ago i made comment about how much i loved prince EA that has since been deleted, i now hate that man with a burning passion. Why? because i realized what he said was idiotic what he gave was a false hope i could get better, that the world was simple as that that there was someone that shared my feelings toward the world, i was so absolutely wrong.

When people say they "have OCD" when they mean "I like when colors match", or "It frustrates me when the painting's not straight". Like y'all, does your brain make you spiral from "I want the colors to match" to "If the colors don't match I will literally die"? It's very hard, and people saying these things just leads to people not accepting just how hard it is when someone actually has the disorder. Just had a conversation with a photographer who was like, "Oh, you're afraid of plants because of your OCD, I'm an outdoorsman, I can fix that just come out in the woods with me, and it'll all be fixed" Like yeah, you're definitely matching the Exposure Therapy my trained professional therapist does in a controlled setting, which even then is a struggle for me........ I had points, when not on medication, and even once on it, where I basically didn't touch anything, or had to go through hours of rituals of various washing in order to touch everyday objects, because I genuinely believed I would die if I did. Yeah, that's completely comparable to liking your stuff in order.... Yeah, people have their moments of upset from things not being a certain way, but the D in OCD is DISORDER. My brain is disordered, doesn't work properly, from variously genetically inherited factors (my great grandfather very likely would've been diagnosed if it hadn't been 190-whatever, and also, nobody in the family thought about his behaviors that way until I was diagnosed, because he was rich, so he was "eccentric" as opposed to "crazy") and possibly social factors that triggered the underlying genetic predisposition.

I disagree with Ea. I was diagnosed with depression at the age of 12. It's been 4 years since then and it hasn't gone away. I got depression from my mother as a genetic.. And boy let me tell you it doesn't go away. Depression is a mental disease that has no cure whatsoever. You can take medicine to cope but, that's all you can do. Word of advice. Don't tell someone who suffers from depression that it'll pass by or that you'll be ok 24/7 it's annoying
