Fram strikes again! What the hell! These filters are quite expensive and even cheapest ones like Valvoline, Supertech or Motomaster OE Plus (All made by Champion Laboratories) are better than that! I had a Motomaster OE Plus 7317 (From Canadian Tire's store in Canada, regular Motomaster ones are rebadged Fram Extra Guard but red painted instead being orange, the OE Plus ones is just better, painted in black) sitting home for a year and a half and was still like new when I used it for my last oil change.

I use the ST6607 from Walmart. It’s $2.97 and better quality.

Don't blame the filter if you had it laying around for a year! it might have been in storage at the retailers establishment for a year or two, then you keep it for a year, no wonder its rusted

This is supposed to be gone into the car and be in contact with oil. These are not meant to be thrown in garage and hope Texas 'dry' weather would save it. Pretty stupid thoughts! Any filter will have the same fate.
