We played this song at my dads gravesite service, he and my mom were married just 3 days short of 50 years when he passed. I remember them dancing in the living room so many times and him singing it to her. At the funeral mom just kept asking if they would play it again. so we did, we played it again, and again, as many times as she wanted. Will never forget their deep love, and how this song expressed it so well. I Love you daddy - But you went away, and I miss you. I will never get over you.

Dear Susan, This song means so much. What a loving tribute to both your and your mom. They sound like saints. Eight years is a long time. I wish the best for your mom if she's still here and for you. My precious Bonnie Sue passed three years ago this November after 50 yrs and 76 days. I still sing this to her several times a week with the guitar she bought for my 70th birthday, her last gift. God bless you and yours, Susan,...and every one reading this. Pick up the phone tonight and tell someone you care about how you feel. David Leckrone Appomattox, VA

I just love this song. But when my father died I played a song called my old man by the fury's. They are all tear brakeys. God bless you do.

My grandfather passed away 5 months ago today. That day, January 25th, 8:07 am is forever burned into my mind. This was the song my grandfather played to my annie and this was their song. Forever in my heart papa. I will always love you. See you when my time comes. You kicked cancers ass 10 years ago and had a heart attack and still have two thumbs up when the doctors went to give you surgery. I love you papa

You placed gold on my finger You brought love like I've never known You gave life to our children And to me a reason to go on [Chorus] You're my bread when I'm hungry You're my shelter from troubled winds You're my anchor in life's ocean But most of all you're my best friend [Verse 2] When I need hope and inspiration You're always strong when I'm tired and weak I could search this whole world over You'd still be everything that I need [Chorus] You're my bread when I'm hungry You're my shelter from troubled winds You're my anchor in life's ocean But most of all you're my best friend [Outro] You're my bread when I'm hungry You're my shelter from troubled winds You're my anchor in life's ocean But most of all you're my best friend

Thank you. My husband and I are coming up on our 30th anniversary. I want to record this for him. But I’m still looking for a line to replace “you gave life to our children.” I think I might just say “and oh your love, for our children” because it fits our situation perfectly.

This song keeps sending shockwaves through my throats whenever I listen to it. Here's my story: my dad died when I was far away in distant world studying. He was buried and didn't meet him, till long after when I traveled back home..shown where he laid, rests. I played this song that day 24 hours nonstop among waves of sobs.

I still remember the day I heard this song on the car radio and stopped and bought the record for my wife. It was her favorite song for the remainder of her life. She was truly my best friend. Through good times and bad times , on dry ground or in the muck she was always out front leading interference for her family.

Yes lord God has truly blessed this man with a wonderful voice even though he passed away This man is truly I hope he is in heaven because now he It's singing with his best friend the Lord Jesus Christ I have been dealing with depression and it's been really getting to me But listening to this beautiful song should remind all of us and to all of his children you can search this whole world up and down but you will never have a friend like Jesus He is our bread when we are hungry When we are thirsty Like when Jesus was talking to the samaritan woman Jesus ask her can I get a drink The woman replied to Jesus you are a Jew and I am a Samantha And you come and ask me for a drink Jesus said if you knew this water that I give you you would never thirst again The samaritan woman told him give me some of this water Jesus was referring to the living water The word of God that never runs dry When your soul is dry and thirsty pick up the word of God Because Jesus wants to hear from all of his children It doesn't matter what nationally background you come Jesus said if I'd be lifted up I would draw all men's unto me When I just heard this song I knew exactly what this song is talking about hes talking about Jesus His best friend
