sometimes I listen to so-called music-know-it-alls, go on and on, about Madonna and Taylor and J-Lo and Whitney and Celine and Mariah and Rihanna and Beyonce' and Jennifer Hudson. And I just shake my head. You know why?..because before ALL OF THEM, there was Donna Summer. Donna Summer was the mold that pop-divas that came after her, were born out of. She set the standard.

@ranlive1 I said, "pop-divas". Franklin was not a pop-diva. Cher was not a pop-diva, because her movie career actually grabbed more attention than her record sales. Linda Ronstadt, was not a 'mold' that Donna Summer, came from....and she is more associated with rock & folk, as she should be. And Diana Ross, did not have the pop & rock record productions that Donna got. Im not knocking the fame of those women, as much as Im clarifying what Donna represented, where the Rihannas, Beyonces and Madonnas, are involved. Donna became a pop superstar...and those females that I just named, are far closer to her level in mainstream pop achievements than a Ronstadt or even a Diana Ross (who is much more associated with the success of a group, than her solo success)
