I love how even after 20 years, Coraline still has us creating theories to untangle her story. A true gem of writing and filmography!

I'm convinced there are two cats -- an idea that the theorizer came up with. I've since noticed that in some scenes, the cat has a massive chunk missing from his ear. In others, he has smooth pointy ears. Why would the film makers go to the trouble of making two cat figures with such different features? I think they are different cats. One is helping Coraline, the other isn't.

There’s a theory that the little turtleneck shirt in the corridor is actually the white piece of clothing that belonged to the “boring blue boy” implying that he was real and was probably the Beldam’s child!

I saw somewhere saying that the striped clothes in the portal belonged to the boring blue boy in the painting and there’s a theory that the boring blue boy is the beldam’s son… What if the cat was the one who killed her son and that’s why his clothes are in the cat’s portal? I guess it would explain the hatred / competition between the cat and the beldam.

What I think is that after Wibe's grandmother's sister disappeared, she began studying witchcraft to find out what had happened and enlisted the cat's help, one way or another. They found and sealed all the passageways the Beldam could use, including the well which they blocked off with the fairy ring, except for the one in the Pink Palace because there the Beldam was too powerful for them. They tried to keep children away by not renting rooms to families with children, but ultimately realized that she could outlast them, so they gambled that the right kind of child could rescue the trapped children's spirits and weaken her enough to seal off her world. They choose Coraline but did not tell her since it would tip off the Beldam and she'd be on her guard. After Coraline had freed the trapped children, the cat wanted to take the key to Wibe's grandmother but decided that since they had set up the fairy ring around the well to block the Beldam, it would do well enough.

12:16 quick theory?, what if she escapes the other mothers dimension but doesn’t go back to normal, by normal I mean the original world, what if she went to another world, that’s why the tunnel is different , what if the other mother purposely set that up, a completely other universe , a new world where Coraline doesn’t know about the other mothers plan , and in coralline 2 it’s called’ coraline 2: the other world’

I think the reason why cats doesn't said any warning to keep away its because the cat knows coraline like she is brave so basically the cats needs coralines help to help those 3 lost souls idk xd

My theory is that the cat made all this to help the other mother and she ask like she hates cats and makes it seem like coraline is in the real world cuz how did the mirror Illusion in the real world so she is stuck in the other world forever and the cat used to be a human and became a cat from a witch kinda like in hocus Pocus and at the ending the cat disappeared

Ok so one of my theory’s is when the three kids from awhile ago traveled to the other dimension the would of had to have a key so they must have went in with the key because these kids probably had to have been able to travel back and fourth before so when Coraline moves in there is the key. Sooo because the key is one of a kind someone must have been able to travel back to put the key back there or they’re not one of a kind. So we know that the belldam can travel to the human world so how did that key get there the cat maybe they are really working together or the keys aren’t as rare as they seem and belldam can make more and more to drag kids in

I love your videos and I have a theory about bobinski you know how mister bobinski is blue well so is Emily from corpse bride I think bobinski is dead. he does all those acrobatic moves without hurting himself, he can talk to animals like Emily could talk to scraps, he can travel through dimensions, and hes made of mice like the dead people were made of bugs.

i think Coraline never escaped because at the end of this movie the cat disappeared into a portal shows that there's magic still around. How could magic exist in real world? And I've heard people say " if Coraline never escape then why everybody have real eyes because only Beldam can do that" that is because Beldam already had enough souls to do everything she wish for. Four souls including Coraline's. We can know by the four holes on the button resemble to the four souls. Remember when Beldam show coraline her button eyes in the kitchen for the hide and seek game clue? that is the proof. I think it's only Coraline soul who think that she still alive. PS: only my thought

I have a question about the souls, do or would they fade over time and eventually disappear? thoes 3 ghosts might not be her only victims but her latest victims which are still new.

At the end of movie Wybie said it was the cats idea to stalk her in the first place so he was talking to the cat in both worlds If the cat knew about the place to begin with why only help Coraline why didn´t the cat help the other kids because he was apart of it the whole time she still stuck there and in one scene it shows Beldam posing as her mother with regular eyes then when she blinks it goes back to buttons showing she doesnt need to have buttons on her eyes its a trick. Coraline was not saved in the end she was still trapped in the other world. The cat put the doll near the door so she would find the door the cat was the only one that was sneaky enough to do it.

I have never trusted the cat but now I'll never give him the benefit of the doubt.

anybody notices that we never actually see the cat enter the other world .. when coraline and the cat go in the tunnel together - the cat disappears . Why? if he reappears just with button eyes? When coraline throws the cat at the other mother - and coraline fake escapes , the cat is just magical there.... but it never shows how he ended up back in the real world. We know he teleports but still ... it would've been nice to see that... I do believe the cat wants coraline.. black cats are always seen as evil. brings around bad luck.. the cat loves games. "The other mother tries to keep me out but she can't"... why can't she if she CONTROLS that world? It would have to mean that he is the same cat and that's why, he doesn't have buttons for a reason... no buttons means no control for the other mother.. I believe the cat actually controls the other world and uses Wybie as a pawn to lure other children to the well portals.. nobody ever ask where's Wybie mom or dad? and the doll he gave her I feel like the cat retrieved it from the other mother once she threw it out the window.
