I've seen folks criticize the gameplay because you don't have a lot of moves or combos. But when you recognize that this game is meant to be “Anime: The Video Game”, then you recognize that the combat system is meant to unlock the “real” combat in the game. You have to fight to unlock the next scene of the anime, which is where the real fight plays out.
