I found that last secret as the area was visible, so it felt natural to try walls that would open near it. Not that the wall looked different and I think that's decent secret design.

I guess I didn't realize the area was visible, so that makes a lot more sense then! I'd still prefer a very minor hint to show which wall you should press instead of having to guess, but since the reward is huge I can understand why it was done like this.

@@Vytaan That's the thing about secret design, there are no 'rules', it's all down to your opinion. I do like the idea of making a wall stand out via misaligned texture, different feature, candle... etc, however if that was a rule then all secrets become stale as they all utilise the same gimmick. In this case, to map gives you vision to an area that looks reachable with no direct path to it. I think that also is a good secret design, it makes you think a wall is a door where it would be logically placed. As long as you don't make the path to the cut off area super obscure I don't think you need to make it mega obvious by screaming, hey door here.

For the BFG secret, the map shows you a little peak of an area on the other side of the crushers so that serves as your clue. I think Skillsaw then expects you to do the rest by wall humping instead of giving it away completely by misaligning the wall texture. It's fair I'd say. If I remember my own run of this one right, I did find this secret ok and made use of the BFG advantage for the remainder of the map. 😊

Why shotgun a baron when you can chainsaw it 😎💪 nicely done! That last secret is a doozie. I guess because there’s a visible area behind the walls you’re supposed to poke all the surrounding walls til you strike lucky lol.

Lol chainsaw broken?????!!?!?!? Yeah, gathering from both your comment and others, the visible area from the other side of the crushers is pretty much the hint. So it's a lot better than I initially thought - still tough to find, but at least not completely random.

You may have overcomplicated the yellow keycard, but nope, you're not dumb. That last secret has no visible clues or tells, it's a true blue wall humper. No idea why Skill wouldn't recess the wall, or at least put in a differing lighting effect. He's normally good at making understandable puzzles out of secrets.

Yeah... I guess the only hint is the fact that you see a room/area, and considering you get a BFG I can understand it being hard to find. But as you said - some kind of very, very minor change to the wall would've been appreciated. And I'm also wondering: why is there even a BFG in MAP03? I mean, it doesn't hurt the map in any way, but it's an interesting decision 😅

the only thing i can think with that last secret is that it's the only big alcove on that side with 3 segments instead of 2, but... that's still kind of a stretch?

Yeah, the hint is that you can see a room back there. The texture itself seems identical. Kinda cryptic but considering you get a BFG, it seems fair.

After reading your comment (and others mentioning the same), it does seem like the room itself is the main hint. So that does make it a bit more fair as you get a BFG after all. My next question would be: why is there a BFG in MAP03? The yellow key fight isn't THAT extreme for it to be necessary... but oh well 😄
