Nice to see my maps get some play. This map really was an interesting design challenge, because I drew out the map art first and tried to design the map around it. Basically shoving the map into the art.

Those stuck cacos on the cyan petals were pretty weird! And you can just punch them without retaliation. Double weird! 3:00 That's a pretty cool magic trick! 8:22 The way you laugh here made me think I wasn't seeing something. I rewound a couple of times just in case. 😅 12:29 I knew these would come back to haunt you at the end. Those are the ones that taunt you at 4:32. Makes me sad when map makers do this sort of thing without allowing backtracking.

Niiiiiice, I totally loved this aesthetic.. I could very happily play a Voidblume mapset. :) Rivi’s other maps, 5 and 12 are wickedly good, you’re totally right. Map05 especially made me think of Violet Shift and I’m not entirely sure why. Were there levels with a castle vibe in Violet Shift? Yay map04 next, look forward to seeing the naughty end room fight!

This midi is "Dark Groove" from Jazz Jackrabbit 2, and it's been used in a number of wads - notably Epic 2 and Good Morning Phobos.

Good lord, Rivi. What sort of magic did you use to make blood look like nectar and flesh to have the texture you'd expect from a real petal? I'm not joking here, I love what he did with the mix of textures, palette and map geometry, because the map did feel "flowery". Dark Groove made me expect significantly more vicious combat, but as is it's alright, not a bad use of the midi. Not my favourite but I dig it.

Basically what @TheSquareOnes said haha, also it happens in 100% of the runs so I can't imagine it was missed if there was even the slightest bit of testing. Or maybe just because Rivi's map always feel unique and special, and this somehow adds to it 😆

@@Vytaan glad you are thinking that because that was in fact not intended lol basically near the end the development, el inferno and I decided to play through the entire thing to search for leftover bugs, and we found out about the first part of this map constantly have monsters falling off edges. So in the end I decided to block off the ledge (monster blocking) and put teleport lines to compensate, mbf21 wasn't a huge thing back then so this is basically the only way. Like the idiot that I am, I playtested this only once and with the usual strategy I used, focusing on the cacos first, the problem completely flew under the radar. So yeah it was indeed unintended, both by mappers or me. In hindsight I could've waited for others to play, or release a RC4 instead. But honestly I didn't want to delay /idgames release at that time, due to school stuff. So excuse me on that :P.
