I know that a level is insanely difficult when decino exercises a modicum of the caution that I use on every Doom level I play.

I think it's the contrast of coming right after the bright and loud red maps what helps this map have such an oppressive atmosphere than what the darkness and creepy music could do on their own

I've watched all of your videos for months and have been going back to some of the old ones. Adding the blind runs has improved them so much. The tension in the first run, the resourcefulness to stay alive without knowing the secrets, it's great.

That alcove in that Cyberdemon Baron archvile room decino mentioned is exactly what I used in my run. It's super cramped, Decino is insane at dodging the projectiles and maneuvering the tight corridors. Hats off to him.

I remember playing through Sunlust and getting to this level. So much suffering but it felt so good to finally get through it, even if that victory was built upon tons of deaths and saves. lmao

That BFG shot after pressing the switch at those Archviles killing instant 3 Archviles is just priceless. The comment afterwards "thats it easy" and then entering the teleporter and get bamboozled by hell knight is classic haha. Btw love the 69 health there!

I found the room with the doors of demons to be the most eerie part of the level, which is good because it's more suspenseful than a big area where you need only observe and react quickly to avoid the hordes. Very delicious cheese at the final fight.

Ah yes, this map. It is as tough as Sunlust gets, but I had a whale of a time with it. Good memories of matador-ing the Cyberdemon in the hall of doors at only 6% HP, and being bundled by Cackies because I don't play with infinite monster height. And the music, it is... mwah 👌😙 Great stuff. It'll take a few maps for Sunlust to get this nice again. On HMP, some of those Cybies get replaced with Mancubi and some of the sniping Revenants with Imps. Still great.

I really like the use of the Final Fantasy Tactics battle music in this WAD. It fits the mood perfectly.

Thank you for the invuln and the monster linedef tips, otherwise it would be a nightmare to pass those sections. I was also able to accidentally cheese the section with the multiple revenants and the 4 archies, I got zapped by one and was sent to a pit on the side with a teleporter to the starting area. Then it was all a matter of backtracking and killing the revenants from above, instead of having to dealing with a lot of them face to face. But even with all that cheese, this level is where things start to get very difficult. I can only imagine what will come forward, besides maps 29 and 30 in which I know what to expect.. I'm still playing this WAD, but with saves and in continuous play, I'm not an "ubermescht doom god" like you to play these kind of levels single-segment, pistol start, no saves :P

I wasn't expecting to hear FFT music in this wad, the Lucavi theme definitely fits really well though.l

This one took me awhile. I'll admit, I skipped the blue key and used the invul to speed through the rev closet at the end. The final room I had a pattern down pretty well. Very tough map to single segment. XD Watching your video was very cathartic though.

Hi. I used the invulnerability orb for the end of the map with the small room with exit sign, but this seems actually much better I made a lot of saves for the part with more cyberdemons. Btw: I really like your gameplay and commentary. I started this wad few days ago it is actually my first custom wad I am playing (I spent a lof of time on campaign this is much better challenge) each time I manage to finish a level (ultra-violence, but with a looot of saves) I go to watch your play then I am like how the hell he did that so well or oh there was the secret I was not able to find :D

Holy shit, one attempt? For that messed up RNG bit with the Cyberdemon and Archviles? I tried my best to think up how to tackle that encounter but just succumbed to RNG eventually. I didn't think to take them out eventually with a couple BFG blasts, but that was quite ballsy either way. Great job!

wonderful cheesing near the end, helluva tough level.

I've been slowly making my way through Sunlust UV (with lots of saves!), and there have been many times when I said to myself that I probably wouldn't be able to beat a particular area or map. But I always managed to do it after a bit of experimentation. This map, though, really took a lot of effort, and in the end I only barely made it through (never did get the blue key and just avoided the final fight as much as I could until I could run for the exit). Was still satisfying to beat though!

The word may be over rated and over used, but still, this was absolutely epic. The way you handled the room with the multiple doors is on point, perfect. And i dont care if you cheesed the final fight, no way anyone is going to run around with so many lost souls , cyberdemons and spidermastermind shooting at you. 👍👊

Nice route. Usually only psycho speedrunners post legit doom gameplay so it's nice to see someone who's trying to find the most reliable instead of the fastest route. Everyone uses the invuln to deal with the revenant clowncar tower (which is very intimidating so you'd think that was a good idea) but I found the part you used the invuln on so unreliable that I gave up on beating the map legit and just skipped most of it. Good lesson on not trusting speedrunners too much. There is a pretty consistent strategy for the cyberdemon + 4 revenant closet where you shoot the cyberdemon with the ssg on the first tick he appears causing him (usually) to counterattack before teleporting and anger all the viles.

The last few maps have been very entertaining to watch.

In the situation where the whole army of hell is killing itself in tries to kill Doomguy and sends a wall of fireballs, rockets and lead at him... Decino is just casually walking around and like: -Hmm, what does this switch do? -Ok, thats a ladder here? -What if I do this, hmm? Thats why I love these vids.

Me: "mmmh, I have two keys already, the level must be almost over!" *sees there are 400 monsters left* "Frick.'"
