That's called common sense, most protagonists just stand there in shock and don't even go for the kill when they get the chance, most people do that when they make a show, a game or a movie. They do that to extend the story and end it with a climatic fight, and while that is good instead of ending it with the villain being killed easily, imagine if that happened IRL, everyone would be mad at you and there's no going back from that choice. Most protags are just forgiven and they are gifted a special secret power to stop the villain at their strongest, it's also because of plot armor, but Doomgu- sorry, The Doom Slayer goes in for the kill because all he knows is *RIP.AND.TEAR!* He will do just that because he fought through Hell in previous Doom games and got his pet bunny killed. So little protags in stories don't just stand there and let the villain power up, the protag actually tries to stop the villain when they are getting close to power up, but the villain (for some reason) is immune to everything you throw at them and the villain gets plot armor to not be stopped.The Doom Slayer is one of those. It's sad because many protags have plot armor and as soon as a villain is about to power up and they have a chance to stop them, the plot armor shatters to bits and pieces.

Only some demons serve him, likely those who were under Erebus (who is heavily implied to be defeated by Davoth in ritual combat in the early days of Hell) and other Archdemon Gods that Davóth managed to defeat before he got imprisoned. In the Hell Lore, he isn't even referred as the Dark Lord, he is the Nameless one, because the Dark Lord of the First age was the one who camw AFTER Davoth, the crucible creator

I see why they think that because the tablets and codexes paint it up like he's capable of these inhuman feats, when in actuality they completely missed the point they were meant to be exaggerating propaganda... The demon tablets were meant to convey the message "Hey dont open this f*cking coffin" Meanwhile the Sentinel Tablets and ARK codexes were just meant to give hope to soldiers.
