Local is where it’s at. I ran long haul for 40+ years. I sold my 379 and bought a Fld 120 day cab out and do the hourly thing now. Work the summer and park about December and watch it snow. Go back to work in March/ April.

Different seasons of trucking for everyone. I like OTR but this aint the season for it for me. I got a 3 year old and a 10 year old im trying to raise. I still work a lot but im home to be involved with their day to day. Ill do some OTR when they think they know it all.

Runnin local aint bad. Im.not local or otr. I run regional, northeast, Indiana line to the atlantic and Virginia to the Canadian border. It's not all that bad, as a company driver. Still home usually every other day. The best part is when I get back wether it be 3 am or later, I'm done. Home til the next run. I'm usually scheduled till Friday but I slam everything together and usually give myself a 3 day weekend when I wanna. Even when it's slowish, I'm still runin 1800 to 2300 miles a week. Usually 2 overnights and a 1 day local. Can't complain, it's more than paying the bills. Otr doesn't pay enough to be out for a month or two at a time.have a small sleeper but usually stay in company paid for hotels. In 3 years with this truck I've had to use the sleeper once.

That's bs they don't make no 500 thou a year. No company is gonna pay that much for local when they can hire cheap drivers. No money in local driving and all they pay ya is hourly wage.
