Biggest thing that helped me is focusing on where the delivery is. A $6 delivery to a House or Apartment Home where I can pull right up is infinitely better than a $9 delivery to an apartment building with a crazy digital gate, 9 floors, and a maze-like design - not to mention my ‘favorite’ people… “I don’t know the gate code, just follow somebody in.”

Here are some dashing tips I've learned: 1. If you are in an area where the GPS or cellular reception is bad at the drop off location. Deliver the order and take a picture. When you leave and get back into reception the app will ask you what happened and you can mark the order as delivered and upload the photo. This happens to me around airports with AT&T service. Also, avoid picking up from dead zones if you can. 2. Do not sit at hotspots. Drive around them and you will get orders faster. The algorithm knows a driver in motion will get there faster than one parked. 3. If you are too far from your preferred area after a drop off, put your phone in airplane mode so the app will think you are out of reception. Drive back to your preferred zone and then take your phone out of airplane mode to resume dashing. This helps me a lot and I don't have to do this as often.(This will help new dashers until the app learns your preferences.) 4. Taking a low pay low mileage dash is better than taking a low pay high mileage dash. Shoot for $1 a mile as your baseline. If all dashers are doing this, then DD will have no choice but to offer more pay for delivery. For example, $4.00 for a 4 mile drop versus $6.50 for a 8 mile drop, I would take the $4.00 and be back on to the next drop faster. 5. Never use the app for directions. Always use Google maps, it works better. Also, if you have Android Auto, it will interface with your vehicle. I was given wrong directions 3 times by the Dasher app before I finally did this. 6. Always read the delivery instructions BEFORE leaving the pickup location. They may put extra info in the directions about utensils that the restaurant may have forgotten or that may not normally come with the food they ordered. 7. If they say they do not know the gate code and to follow someone in, DON'T leave the pickup location until you texted them to meet you outside of the gated area. If they decline to meet you outside, they will know where you will be. Knowing the gate code when pulling up makes your drop time faster. Your time is money and they should respect that. I've had customers text me back the gate code "miraculously" while driving to their location. 8. Take breaks between peak hours if you can afford to. This is a job, balance your life around it. 9. Drive the speed limit. The system will know how long it takes to drive and give you time. Your life is not worth the $$$. 10. Save gas by driving with slower accelerations from stops. Heavy foot equals more gas spent and more engine wear. I am on time or early for all of my deliveries.

The only time I’m ever not on time is when the restaurant fails to prepare the food in a timely manner. If DD really gave a damn about customer experience, they need to monitor some of these restaurants that are constantly calling drivers before they even start cooking.
@negative7proxy
@negative7proxy Жыл бұрын
The time it takes for a restaurant to complete an order is dependent on many variables. I work at a popular dine-in restaurant where the dine-in wait can reach hours. The food for dine-in and to-go come from the same place, so a busy dine-in area can increase the time it takes for to-go orders to be completed (this is especially true on holidays). I know Dashers want to be in and out when picking up orders, but sometimes that's just not possible. Sometimes Dashers will show up 5 minutes after the order was placed (even though we didn't click the "order ready" button) and give us attitude when they find out the order is still being made.

It's crazy how quick the algorithm kicks in. Yesterday was my second day ever, and I drive a less fuel efficient car. The app kept trying to send me way across the city, but I kept turning down every long drive, even though it left my first 30 minutes fruitless. After that however, I didn't get a single order over 2 miles all day.

Pretty solid tips given in this video. I do a similar thing as you mentioned if I'm being too picky, I just relax and take a lower paying offer that will only take me 8-10 minutes tops. Many times after I throw DD a bone, on the way to the restaurant they'll add a stack offer that's even higher than the original. For that reason I've changed my strategy somewhat. I used to hunt only bangers, now it's all about pick up and drop off locations, as well as time. People think too much about $ to miles, I'm thinking $ to minutes.

He is 100% right though about breaking down every order and being as efficient as possible. Customers will never learn. They don't know or care that we: 1. Don't get paid hourly. 2. Can only accept what we feel is worth it. 3. Have to waste gas to drive to the store in addition to driving to the customer's house. 4. Have to wait for the order. 5. We are expected to automatically know exactly where their apartment is. 6. They should also show you the dd pay and tip amount in the offer not the total combined. More transparentcy please. I typically have opted taking a couple of dashes almost every dash that are a little lower, or the mile-to-$$ ratio is not what I love. But then it seems like I get better offers after! And my AR is up at 86 now. Thanks Bentley! 🎉

There is SO MUCH that I need to and am learning as a FT dasher and most of it is from the lips and wise minds of ppl like yourself. Coming from a mindset of "just show up to work and leave on time" to this gig is a SERIOUS change in thinking and acting. Thank you for every pearl of wisdom you drop. Now if I could just get some useful advice on tax in Australia I'll remove the one think that haunts me daily! Thank you good sir for your time, wisdom and effort.

This explanation is thorough and basically read directly from information available from various sources. The algorithm definitely can be choosy when its slow or there are a ton of drivers working (which happens frequently) but when it's very busy the time urgency dictates it switches to a basic logistical efficiency model. The program doesn't have the luxury at that point to pick and choose. Its next man up at that level. So if your market is flooded with drivers, definitely the higher acceptance rate can influence your offer selection. Is it worth raising it up? For every driver who says yes, there are 5 who say no. Thats not scientific data. Thats what I read on social media. Personally I don't think I'd let an algorithm that changes 1000 times a second dictate my decisions. I stick to my plan.

I would say think out of the box, be extra nice and hurry ya rear up to the orders. What's out the box? Working hours most others Dashers are not. Wearing cool clothings and or holiday themed uniforms, things others are not doing that leaves impressions for high ratings. Have friends and family order in your area and test whether you can get their order to increase your rating as it's a 100% good order.

Exactly man, that way of thinking is exactly what DD wants - if 10% of the 1000s of people who watch this think “I need to take some lower orders and be less picky so I get better orders” then that’s more lower paying orders that DD gets delivered.

Do y’all live in a big city or something? In my area, the common easy deliveries are often around $2-3 and the $8-10 ones will have an ton of items and a 7 mile trip. I can find good deliveries, but I’d have to sit in my car for 15-20 minutes, and I just can’t justify that. Peak hours are typically like 3-5AM in the country outside of my city, and the distances are absurd. My first day I cleared about $25/hr and since then I’m lucky if I see $12/hr. Great video! I just started being a Dasher last week - primarily as a part timer for now. My goal is to try to earn $100 / day on the average. The closest I've done is $85 in 5 hrs. I've noticed in my market that there are a lot of people that won't tip which means that the payout is between $3.25 & $4.25. So I said to myself - no more! The lowest I'll take is $6.50 for a single order and $12 for stacked orders. I know that if I did the same work during peak time I would hit the $100 mark. One of the issues I've run into is my town (250k people) is oversaturated with dashers. You have to schedule to even dash, and the schedule is always 100% full. The only way I can dash in my hometown is by being a "top dasher" so I have to keep my acceptance rating above 80% to even qualify for that. So, unfortunately, declining doesn't really seem to be an option for me unless I want to spend a crap ton on fuel to go to the next big city (an hour away)

I try to do orders that equal $2 per mile and lately I’ve been getting offered orders like that but at the end of the day it’s only like 50-60$ a dash. Between 20-24$ an hour. What I’ve had to do is end a scheduled dash like 30 min early then dash on the go for another hour or 2.

I hope this lives up to the hype.. I need to know how to get that cash in Florida! Everyone have a wonderful weekend, make some good money but most importantly let us all stay safe on that road.

I was dashing in FL last winter. Nothing but traffic jams everywhere. How do you dash down there??

I dash in Florida and you definitely have to push it and roll while it's rolling but I do get it done.

@@my.names.robb.with.two.bs1 I'm in Jacksonville and it's a very large city area wise so it's broken up into a lot of doordash districts. When I first started adore dashed in an area of the city that was around a lot of highways and bridges over the rivers and all and I got a lot of traffic especially dinner time.. oh and school bus time. I tried a different area and it turns out I drive half the mileage with more than half less traffic and more money. But it took me about a year to figure that out unfortunately.lol

Honestly, the biggest change I have seen is when I dropped below 50%. When I was 50% or higher I got on average twice the mileage for tip payout. So for $8 I would be traveling no more than four miles. Once I drop below that I never got those offers. The algorithm is built to make you take really crappy orders otherwise it will punish you tremendously and it will keep you under that 50%. I've even checked this. I can take three orders in a row yet I will only go up 1%. I turned down one maybe two crap orders and I drop 1%. Doordash is honestly worse than I've ever seen. I'm thinking about going to a different app. I've even noticed a lot of people from competing apps 10 to show up and just take off with the food no wait time.

“A discount on what they can pay you.” Man, they haven’t payed me more than $2.50 per order in a WHILE. It used to be that base pay would adjust for longer distance orders. Now I’ve literally had 14 mile orders pay $2.50. That’s outrageous. They aren’t paying me any extra for anything.

You messed up your ranking and probably ended up at the bottom of the list somehow. Like he said everything you do matters, including your battery percentage, what other apps you have open, how long it takes you to park and etc. like he said reset your algorithm.

I've tried every strategy you mentioned there I've done 6,000 doordash deliveries. Taking low paying orders only makes sense if they're within one to two miles. When I drop my order orders down 10% but that changes the algorithm so I get more low orders. Anyone else experienced this! 😉😉
