Hello guys, welcome to my channel and to my reaction to the second episode of the second season of The Expanse.
Today, the Roci crew and Fred Johnson attack the Thoth station and run into very difficult decisions, Chrisjean finds out a very interesting thing about Johnson and we find out more about Dresden's intentions.

"Gunny" is short for "Gunnery Sergeant." A Marine gunner sergeant is widely considered the most savvy and capable combat soldier on the ground. It appears in the Martian Marines that a gunnery sergeant has the authority of a junior officer. Only members of her own unit can call her "Gunny." Yes, Avasarala gave Errinwright the idea of destroying the Martian moon. She's still playing her old "hardliner" role to avoid suspicion. If you go back and listen to the dialog between the Anderson Station protesters and Colonel Johnson, it's clear that he wasn't hearing what they were saying. This was the most satisfying space combat I'd ever seen...until the next space combat in The Expanse. I don't think Alex's delaying and losing one pod was really a choice. They would not have survived against the stealth ship at all until they got that thruster fixed, and they did go into action the moment Amos had it fixed. It's just like the question of saving more people from Eros. They did what they had to do to continue the fight...there wasn't a true choice.

A note for the future: not everything blue is protomolecule! Those were indeed scientists, not "lab rats".

Minor Correction. Holden didn't choose Amos over the Breaching Pod. He actually choose the Breaching Pod over Amos. The initial Pod was destroyed because the Roci was damaged and would very likely not been able to maneuver into position to destroy the gun without the Stealth Ship being able to destroy the Roci, in Which case the Roci dies, and both breaching Pods die. Now once Amos fixed the the thrusters giving the Roci the chance to be able to take out the gun and fend off the Stealth ship, he has the choice of giving Amos time to get back and strapped in, or take off immediately and take out the gun. He choose to go and take out the gun. Its another good example of why Holden is in command and not Naomi, who wasn't willing to order Amos to repair the ship, or to take high G maneuvers while Amos wasn't secure. Holden once the ship had a fighting chance, put the 25 remaining Belters above 1 member of his own crew.

Nothing about the Miller versus Amos fight was exaggerated. Amos is from Earth, with musculature developed in full gravity, whereas Miller is a Belter born and raised in Ceres, used to variable gravity moving through the asteroid, though never more than 1/3rd of full gravity.

Of course we know that JP Mao is funding the research into the protomolecule. What's behind the protomolecule is a different question.

Gunny is her military rank. Short for Gunnery Sergeant

I'm enjoying your reactions. Those were scientists interpreting incoming data from Eros. They didn't take being interrupted very well...

Must've been one hell of a set of data they got from there... 😅 Can't help but feel like they are wildly underestimating the Protomolecule here.

I love the landing speech in this one and it's good to see the return of Diogo, the water thief. Miller taking out Dresden was surprising to me as much as it was to Fred and Holden.

Diogo's return was indeed a very nice surprise, also him greeting Miller with his own words was a cool touch. Also nice that he did not die immediately as I first thought, that would've sucked. ^^ As I said, I thought that something had to happen at the end and Miller killing Dresden was the logical conclusion. I mean, he already wanted to kill him before he did all the horrible stuff on Eros because of Julie, and now after seeing that he's absolutely devoid of any remorse, that was the final nail in the coffin, literally.

@@AngusSees Actually Miller will explain exactly why he killed Dresden; it’s one of my favorite quotes of the series.

Gute Frage bzgl.

Great reaction and analysis! It was at this point that I realized I conflicted about Chrisjen. On one hand she was ruthless with that belter putting him on the hooks at the beginning of season one and now she has me rooting for her as she begins to uncover this story. Good writing! The battle at Thoth Station was so good! The Rocinante drawing the air out of the ship into it's airtanks preparing for battle. Also the remnants of gun fire through the ship showing the danger of battle. Saving Amos was another tough decision and losing the pod. You described Dresden pretty well. Saying sacrificing 100k belters so he can play God! Can't wait for the next one!

Revisiting the series (& perusing YT comments) illustrated how The Donnager’s reluctance to accept the stealth ships as a viable threat was their undoing (obviously, but not so obviously)! The Donnager and poor Shed were Swiss-cheesed by railgun projectiles. The Donnie could have readied its crew for the threat of CQB, and evacuated its internal atmosphere to those reserve tanks, just like The Roci here during the assault on Thoth Station. These railgun barrages cut straight through the Donnie, venting many unsuspecting areas of the ship and crippling their ability to fight off boarders on breaching pods. The Roci crew wasn’t about to make the same mistakes. Love this show!
