Diego's luck is off the chart while Dresden's persuasion skill is scary. I was like Holden and Fred Johnson. completely convinced by his arguments. When Miller shot him, I was like ''Thank God''

well, as Ylva said (about Dresden, so the irony is tangible), who gave Miller the permission to decide to kill him right then and there? He was unarmed and had surrendered.

“What is Chrisjen playing at?” She told you in episode 1x10. “I will be [safe here] for a time. So long as I play a familiar role. The stubborn old woman, eyes locked on yesterday’s game, too blind to see the world has passed her by.”

Fred Johnson is showing how he has assimilated into belter society to a large degree. Belters will never see him as one of them, but he did not kill the Black Sky guy with his own gun, he spaced him as a belter would. Fred is a very interesting character because he shows the limits of integration into a new culture. Some of his core thinking will always be from his upbringing, but he thinks of HIMSELF as a belter.

Love Chad as Fred. I was so sad when he was out of TWD but was lucky to get to meet him on Stockholm sci-fi convention once & he has such a warm & soft persona, even his deep voice was warm & soft & he just seem really nice in general. Really glad he got the role here :)

I am enjoying watching you experience my favorite show. I am watching you today while I wait for the next season 5 episode to drop this afternoon. Doors and Corners is one of my all time favorite episodes. The space battle and station invasion are both epic and the interpersonal stuff, especially between Holden and Miller is so poignant. Thanks for your series on The Expanse, I’ll keep watching

Remember Miller's line "We need these scientists alive guys"

At the time Phoebe arrived in the solar system, all life on Earth was single-celled. A vat of bacteria would have given Dresden the same data he got from 100,000 Belters. Miller moving silently behind Dresden. Very like Amos moving silently behind Semitimba. The two breeching pods were FedEx cannisters, you may have noticed. Special delivery from the OPA....

A vat full of bacteria wouldn't have given the same results as Eros. We start hinting at spoilers though if we get too far into discussing why that is and how we know.
@paratus043 жыл бұрын
Without getting into spoilers a vat of bacteria would have worked for what the protomolecule was originally sent here to do (whatever that was since the story hasn’t explained it so far). That’s what life was like when it arrived and it would have done whatever it was supposed to do without interference if it had made it all the way to Earth - probably preventing regular Earth life from evolving in the process. So in some ways the scientist was right. Someone fired a shot a long time ago that would have basically prevented us from even being born. If you were going to understand it’s purpose to try and defend humanity against it this is where you start. However they tested it on belters to see what it could really do. We in fact saw it’s ability to mimic multicellular life like with Christians spy in episode 10. That test wasn’t really to defend humanity but to quickly see if could be used to extend humanity’s capabilities which I’m sure would make some people a lot of money. Technically there’s not even a rush. It is an existential threat to humanity that something very powerful took a shot at the Earth, but that was a billion years ago and nothing has happened since. They had time, even if it took them a couple of decades or a century to safely figure out how the protomolecule works and what it can do. Instead they start a war to distract Earth and Mars keeping them off their backs while killing a station full of belters to speed things up. That’s evil.
@Reedstilt3 жыл бұрын
@@paratus04 "Without getting into spoilers a vat of bacteria would have worked for what the protomolecule was originally sent here to do " It would have gotten to the same end-point eventually (assuming they could have given it a vat of bacteria big enough), but there are some spoilery hiccups along the way because it's trying to get there with people and not bacteria. In the books at least, Protogen did run some tests on bacteria at first (I think they also allude to this in the show when they find the recording at the start of Season 2 and Dresden says they need to feed it mroe biomass to find out what its really trying to do) Unfortunately, Belters are pretty much the only large supply of biomass conveniently pre-sealed in self-contained areas so the protomolecule can't escape. Protogen's scientists are amoral assholes, but they're not stupid. They can't really release this into Earth's biosphere were it could run wild across the planet, or even into the Martian domes where it could potentially spread to nearly 10 billion people. The belters drew the short straw in this evil experimentation.
@jrich7493 жыл бұрын
@@paratus04 Sure, if you want to wait a few hundred years for results, and you keep feeding it bio-mass and energy.....but you would be the worst scientist ever and fired immediately. Your personal moral code has nothing to do with the evolution of humanity.

3. Your becoming one of my favorite Expanse reactors! You're a damn good job! Diogo just keeps popping up every time you think he maybe gone for good! Such a good episode with a lot of content. Chrisjen digging deeper and finding out about Fred Johnson. The Rocinante crew and Miller going to that station try to figure out who and what the hell is happening on Eros. The space battle was pretty awesome with Alex and Amos coming through! Can't wait for the next one!

Admiral Souther, always on the side of the angels. That was the finest space combat scene ever. Part of what made it so good was that we saw how hard Alex worked to learn how to tightly traverse the more powerful stealth ship without coming into range of its guns. Dresden stated his intention to continue human testing. Holden and Dresden might not have intended to let that happen, but there was too much money behind Dresden...there would be no way for them to continue to hold on to him. Earth would take over the project, and Earth wouldn't mind using Belters for his experiments. Holden and Johnson think like Earthers...they didn't understand the threat to Belters as Miller did.
@blackpaw292 жыл бұрын
Excellent point, I hadn't thought of it that way before (Dresden).
@nokta73733 жыл бұрын
I suggest you rewatch Dresden's (the mad scientist) monologue and pay particular attention to EVERY word he says. There's important info there that most reactors seems to miss and that makes them make all kinds of hypothesis about the Protomolecule while missing one very important and fundamental detail that Dresden unveils.

there was SOME thought put into who the scientists were sacrificing. not quite morality but remember they DID employ all the gangs from Ceres and assuming everywhere else to police and be on Eros at the moment the experiment began & we get the impression they never intended to get them off Eros afterward. "a public service".

To Johnson and Holden, Eros was a horrible tragedy, but to Miller it was a genocide, and he could see Dresden had convinced Johnson to let him carry on "with no restrictions." Um...no.

Always loved The 100 poster behind you. I watched all seasons, thought a few were filler but I watched it recently and didn't understand the dissent you have against it. The undertones? I wasn't apart of the culture at the time. My asking is, could you do a 30-40 minute commentary on the series to give others like me a breakdown?
@bevinbobele99583 жыл бұрын
First, I love your reactions. But I stay for your commentary and thoughts. You are like a MST3000 Friday evening friend on a couch where we could afterwards talk more in depth over a box of wine (known as a "Space Bag" in my state....cuz you take the bags out of the box to sneak into movie theaters. And so I have a theory. Miller didn't shoot the scientist for revenge. He shot him because they were actually considering working with him. He did it to save Holder's humanity at his own cost. He took the choice out of the equation. Thus saving him.
@CamillaDrakenborg3 жыл бұрын
Chrisjen is a good woman but she grew up in the world of politics & understands that in order to play on this field with the big boys, she needs to be a bitch at times to make sure shit gets done. But she wouldnt sacrifice people unlike others to reach her goals. Thats how I perceive her :)

Miller didn’t really do it for justice. He did it because he saw how Dresden was swaying Holden and Fred with his reasonings. And if they were willing to make a deal with him then he could have convinced other people that it needed to be done and that the work should continue and more Belters would be sacrificed. Miller 100% did the right thing
