You represent the biking community well! Yep, we've all ridden 'characterful' bikes in the past......I absolutely love that stretch of road behind Chesil Beach and the whole coastline in that region is great for biking and hiking. Cheers.

Thanks, we really appreciate your comments. I’d like to think we would all stop when we see someone stuck at the side of the road, sadly I’m not sure that’s always the case anymore? We hadn’t done too much of the Dorset coast on the motorbikes but we will definitely be spending more time riding here, there’s another part to this weekend trip to come very soon where we explore more and visit some cool motorcycle cafes…

Liked the various stalls and where motorcycle drivers can come and sit by a bench with a table and just taking in the view. Thanks for showing Helmet City that is a bikers paradise..... The cliff against the beach side and the path way that one can walk on the sea sand. The view from the drone of the landscape is just beautiful. That is a bad one of the chain that came loose of the sprocket luckily the chain got free. Know the feeling when i just started driving motorcycle. Had no tools with me had to push the bike for 25km back home. Funny how things like this can take one back to ones own experiences. Thinking about it now brings a smile to my face.

Yes west bay is massively popular for bikers to meet up and you can see why. The problem here in the uk is young ones pass a two hour course to ride a 125cc but have no idea about how to maintain their bikes

Ohhh, never been to West Bay. That's this weeks ride destination sorted! I must look like a lottery winner to the lady in our local Helmet City, every time I go in there she tries to sell me thousands of pounds worth of kit I don't want and can't afford. If you look at that wall you were riding past, you will see lots of places where the brickwork is repaired. I often used to drive along that road when I was working and most of those damaged areas were caused by cars crashing though the wall.... on a long.... straight..... road. I can't imagine how they managed it, I don't think it had anything to do with booze or other...erm... substances!

It's due to the pillocks overtaking stupidly along the straight. The bits just after the right hand bends, are mainly due to people taking the bend faster than they should and losing control. There's also plenty of cars go in the field on the left of that bend too. Had plenty of customers in my ambulance from along there

Back in the mid to late 70s, I witnessed one chain off, and one aftermath of a chain off. I was walking to a youth club with my mates and a bike came along and the chain wrapped itself round the rear wheel. The rider was catapulted into the safety railings about 2m in front of us. The railing was a steel tube with steel mesh. In those days, safety equipment at best was a Belstaff or leather jacket. As this was a hot day, the poor guy was wearing a tee shirt, jeans and trainers. The guy died instantly on the spot, in front of us. His neck snapped on the upper bar as his body went through the railing mesh. The ambulance station was only about 100m from where it happened and one of my mates ran up there. They came immediately, but there was nothing they could do except take the body away. Poor guy. The next time, I was skating (boarding) in the next town at an indoor skatepark. One of my mates came in frantically shouting that had a biker had crashed. We grabbed the first aid kit (I was on the skate team) and ran. This poor guy had been catapulted off his bike into a lamppost. Again, there was no good outcome. These two incidents I witnessed nearly 30 years before I started riding. I never forgot them. It’s why I ride BMW shaft drives.

@ontheroadadventure 9 ай бұрын
Wow sorry you had to see that. We are strong on wearing all the gear, all the time and are lucky to have better gear now than what was available then. This highlights the importance of chain maintenance and it blows my mind that there is no training in basic bike maintenance at any point through the licence process
@albertol1529
@albertol1529 9 ай бұрын
@@ontheroadadventure I totally agree with you. That was my point. Chain maintenance is fundamental to safety. If you know you’re lazy (like me) you buy a shaft drive. It is criminal it’s not taught as part of CBT or whatever it’s called now. Beginners are unlikely to be on shaft driven bikes.

Aha, my neck of the woods. I'm in Weymouth where you helped the two lads with that chain. The shingle bank stretches for 18 miles and is a pig to walk on, trust me! You're right about West Bay, gets very busy especially on a weekend. Fair play to you flying the drone over the bike area🤣🤣 If you look at the bit of your video with the cliffs, that fall was only 2-3 weeks ago and looks like there's a bit more ready to come down soon. The estate you went past with the long wall and the Stag Gate......did you notice it's got 5 legs? The view from the manor house made it look like it only had 3 legs as one was in line with the other, so they had an extra leg added to stop that. It's owned by the MP Richard Drax, and with frequent accidents along there, the bricklayer is permanently kept in work repairing that wall. Great video, ride and stay safe guys
