I think a stair step approach could work well, up, over and then back and down to close the boxes as you came back

What app did you use to figure out who completed a box first? This is something I’d like to do with my girlfriend as a date beginning/end. We are both avid runners, and we’d love to use our competitive streaks! Love the vids Sam. ❤

@@Gunnytana funny enough we actually had to re-draw our routes on a paper map to figure out the boxes that were close! But we both used the Nike Run Club app, which allows you to move your finger along a timeline of your run, and it will show you where you were on the map at any given time. So we just had to "replay" our routes by doing that!

This is a really good idea. I wonder in which other formats you can play dots and boxes. Edit: the first one that comes to mind is aiming at targets with a bow, frisbee, ball, boomerang, etc. to claim your lines. Or ping pong balls and red solo cups for college-style. And a great party idea is to write things onto cards (trivia, challenges, etc.), shuffle them, place them face-down in the grid between whatever's representing your dots, and then players have to successfully do what's on the card to claim that line. Also, instead of getting lines, you can just claim dots. A dot can have any amount of players claim it. Claiming 2 adjacent dots forms a line. First to form each square claims the square, just like in this video.

Thank you for this video. I've been a runner for many years. But with the effects of the past 3 years, weight has be gained and effort to do anything has been greatly minimised. But finding the motivation has been lacking (not only just due to pain). Little by little, I'll get there.

We both have Garmin watches but we used the Nike Run Club app to compare maps at the end (and that doesn't require a GPS watch!).

Funny enough, there's a city/town in Colorado named Buena Vista pronounced the exact same way (ie: not the typical Spanish pronunciation)

Hi! The map with our faces was an animation I made in post production. We used Nike Run Club to track our runs, which allows you to scroll through and see where you were on the map at any given time during your run - so we used that data from each of our runs to see who got to each box first. It was a painstaking process and took us a while to figure out who won. I appreciate you watching!

I've been subscribed to you for quite awhile now, and I check my youtube regularly. not once have I seen any of your videos pop up in my subscription feed in the last 3 months. it was only when I started researching the light phone/ dumb phones did you pop up in the suggested. I thought, "oh yeah! that dude!" I don't know if this information does you any good or not, but know that I am interested in what you're doing and it hasn't been showing up for me.

You should have also allowed box stealing so if 1 person ran 3 sides of a box the other person could have ran that 4th side before the other person, being the first persom the close the box and win it even for only running 1 side. Like at 5:10 blue finished that 4th line before red, he would have won that box if stealing is allowed
