I've been doing the "1 set every minute (1SEM) for 10 minutes" thing for all exercises but especially for this I tried doing a few sets of pyramids ( 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, rest 90s, repeat) and then adjusting to add a little more total reps (more or "taller" pyramids) each time. Within one pyramid, I rest enough so that my form stays good. This feels a bit more conducive to building that "Herculean physique" because I'm essentially extending the reps in a long set (the pyramid set) by adding in short rests (between the sets in the pyramid). So I can use a heavy load and the average fatigue level within the pyramid seems high, then goes down between the pyramids. With the 1SEM approach, the fatigue compounds more linearly with time, so I think if I'd go to high fatigue on the 1st set then I'd collapse on the last set. I think I want to use both: the 1SEM for most movements in the 8+ rep range for conditioning, and then the pyramids for something like double KB movements with 3-6 reps in the initial pyramid set. Maybe even just one long pyramid (6-8 reps) for some back burner exercise. Any thoughts?

How many times a week should we aim to fit doubles in to a tetris of training? I'm wanting to start double clean and press and double squats after seeing that IG post from Kurt Stein, but I'm unsure if twice a week for each is too much (C&P Monday and Thursday, Squat Tuesday and Friday), or should just do each once per week. Your thoughts would be appreciated!

The usual problem i face and i hurt my back is the double swing clean, my lower back seem to absord all presure i stead of glutes, and i use 1 28 kgr and 1 20 kgr...i dont know if the weight is the problem and is very heavy..any advice of strengthening the muscles for the double swing clean..is the dead clean more safe than the swing?

Excellent as always.I have access to 40,000 ft2 of gym on the local base with more equipment than I can name. Don't even need to go there anymore. Work out in my basement with KB\Sandbags\Clubs\Rings, etc. Save over an hour a day in commute time. Also thanks for the training tips. It has took me forever to get out of power lifting mode into KB mode; its been worth it! I are my own lab rat.

Mark: I am sorry it has taken a while to answer. The goal is to be able to take care of myself until the day I die. I have seen what happens to those who can't and it is not pretty. I also need to drop some weight. I was attacked by a fat suit some time ago. The current strategy is consistent daily or near daily exercise a la Pavel's Simple and Sinister, Dan John's Easy Strength, or your Tetris. I do not seem to recover as well as I used to from fewer but longer workouts. I am 65+. Monday I am starting the Dan John 10,000 swing challenge. Get that done then S&S plus for a month then repeat. I will continue club swinging along with what ever else I do.

@@stephenking3623 how did the 10k swing program go? What are you doing these days?
@stephenking3623
@stephenking3623 2 жыл бұрын
@@Paul-to6iw First, let me apologize for taking so long to reply. There have been a few family issues\deaths I have had to deal with. Second, it went really well. I was down to 265 before all the kaka hit the rotating turbine blades, a loss of 15lbs. This was with a 40# bell and two handed. I also went on the literally every other day scheme and it worked well for me. I completed 10k swings so I am now working on an every other day rings\parallels training course courtesy of the Kalvado brothers and a second half of other KB swings/ sandbag work. I have only done a few workouts on the rings\parallels training so I do not know if I am in shape enough at my weight. For swings I will be working on 25x20 one armed EMOM and for sandbags it will be sandbag ground to shoulder, sandbag get down, sandbag get up, walk (round trip basement, 100ft), other side goal is 30 reps continuous. This takes about a minute per rep with a 50 pound bag. Reach goal then go to 60lb bag. For the other SB work out I am thinking of SB over the shoulder for 10x10, starting at 50lbs. Thank you for your interest.

What’s the cost breakdown and ceiling height? Rouge rack or prx?
@gwathanaur
@gwathanaur 4 жыл бұрын
@@MarkWildman I live in Paris so I went with a european brand, but it folds just like the rogue rack. Ceiling height is 8 ft 2 in which is standard here. It is high enough to do overhead presses using 15kg or 35lb plates (I'm 6'3"). I don't have enough space for a bench as it is set in a really tiny space but I do dips and TGU (in another room) to complement the press. Cost breakdown is 500 for the rack plus safety arms, 300 for a bar, 400 for a pair of bumpers plus around 400lb of iron, maybe 100 extra for storage and the rubber tiles to deadlift on. 10 for collars. 1300 total, almost twice what you would pay for in kettlebells to have a "decent" collection and intend on doing double kettlebell work. Once fully folded, bar on the gun rack and plates on the tree, it takes about as much space as a reasonable collection of kettlebells and way less than a stationary bike or similar things you sometime find in an appartment. Space being the real primary cost in a city where rent is so high, it ends up being a rather viable option. I still think that for most people, who are not training nerds, having just one light and one heavier kettlebell at home is the way to go.
