Veronique Sanson was Michel's first love, but she fell in love with an american musician. She left Michel to go live in USA. After that, Michel met France Gall, and even if their love was truly deep, he was still somehow nostalgic about Veronique. The legend says he wrote this song about their break up. It became the biggest hit of his album (which title means "How love is bizarre"). Veronique heard the song, while living in USA she wrote another song to respond to him. "Je serai là" (I'll be there) is a different song, written by Veronique, you should check it ;)

My fav Berger song, along with "Quelques mots d'amour". So profound and soulful. The fragility of this question: "will you be there?" just tugs at you. You can't ignore it. In the end, all we ever crave is a companion, another human who cares as much as we do. The music is so pensive and gorgeous... sigh... Best son ever.

To answer your question, Michel Berger already knew France Gall since they had married in 1976 (a year after the release of the song "Seras-tu là ?" in 1975). Can you please react to Véronique Chanson’s song "Amoureuse"? (1972). She evokes in an absolutely wonderful way a night spent with Michel Berger. Thanks for your videos! You’re great!

Hi and thanx for this reaction! Maybe you should know, when Véronique was in the USA and not so happy with Stephen Stills, her husband at the time, she wrote "le maudit". It´s a song about her feelings for Berger and her situation in the USA. She then came back to France and her first TV show in France was with Berger and she had to sing this song "le Maudit" in his presence. Berger said, it was a beautiful song. That´s all. You can watch this on youtube. "Seras-tu là" is in a way an answer to "le Maudit". Then she answered with "je serai là". But you can feel in this song, she´s showing a limit and yes, she will be there as a friend... And the song "La minute de silence" you reacted to, is the last answer of Berger, and his way to tell her...he has buried his love for her. That´s why the minute of silence. It was beautiful, that for that song Berger had the help and and the support of his best friend, Balavoine.... OK.... keep enjoying other musical discoveries!!! Keep up the good work....

A jewel. Eva's lived and died in Montreal in March 2020. She exposed her paintings too. As I already said, Michel Berger was one of our genius song maker. Michel Berger and Véronique Sanson had been childhood friends and in 1967, they fell in love with each other but in 1972, Véronique Sanson quits him for an American singer. I don't know how they could, but they saved their friendship and he went on writing for her. When Véronique Sanson sang "Seras-tu là ?", it was in 1993, Michel Berger had already passed away in 1992. I think that's why she is so emotional while singing and makes little mistakes in the lyrics. Anyway, this is a wonderful song and, effectively, "Je serai là" is the answer from Véronique Sanson to Michel Berger. Michel Berger and France Gall have been married since 1976 to his death in 1992. Here is the video of Michel Berger and Jean-Jacques Goldman singing this magnificent song : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nd5hrJCDt6uudmw.html It's not very good quality, but it's a piece of French music history.
