@james jones I am 5 years in to a 6 year undergraduate degree in counselling psychology. Please believe me when I say I’ve had plenty of ‘enriching’. What I commented on was two intellectuals, whose opinions do not bend in the wind and who articulate themselves well. That. Is what I found refreshing. But thank you for the recommendation. If I had time between studies, work, kids, my fiancée, reading scientific journals, books and papers, I may have read :)

@james jones Jung, Klein, Freud etc are psychoanalysts (as you likely know) the trouble is it’s a long form (many years/life) process that’s hard to measure scientifically and so has fallen out of favour over more behavioural talk therapies such as CBT, ACT, and TA (and of course person centred/humanistic approaches). Transference and counter transference are extremely complex and rich topics usually held back for postgraduate/specialist training. Training I hope to engage with in the future.

@james jones oh for sure, the whole point of psychoanalysis is that it’s never the same twice as no two people are the same. There are broad conceptions that are generalisable but it’s how they interact and the chosen imagery used to describe and investigate that are most illuminating, it’s these nuances that are vital to understand and can only be understood to any good degree by prolonged contact with the alysand. There are no quick one size fits all interpretations.

I'm European, and I want us to win. But you won't win if you don't realize that the French killed 1 million algerians, often by torture, during the 8 year conflict that started in the 50s. And that was only a part of their brutality in Algeria. If nothing else they drove refugees to their own country, where they would be safe. Now they are paying the price for this and other issues. The terrorism is unforgivable, but it did not arise from nothing. That said, the Turks seem to have forgoten their history, the Armenian Genocide just to name a small passage in their past history.

That's debatable. 1. Part of Turkey is on the western side of the Bosporus, 2. Georgia and Armenia are Christian nations that are located to the EAST of Turkey; and 3. the eastern border of "European" Russia (and, therefore, of Europe) is the Ural mountain range, which is FAR to the east of Turkey. Drawing a clear line between the two cultural regions of Europe and "not-Europe" (culturally, "Asia" must be divided into at least three separate regions -- the Middle East & Western Asia, the Indian subcontinent, and East and Southeast Asia) is far from easy. In fact, it is impossible. Just because Turkey is a majority muslim country does not mean it cannot also be European. In that way of thinking, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Albania would NOT be in Europe! It turns out that the world is not painted in black and white.

Why would anyone from the Visegrád countries support Macron, who has been always condescending and often openly hostile towards them? V4 has been villified by people like Macron for the past 5 years for consistently maintaining the stance that EU should protect its outer borders and that migrant quotas are road to hell. Who with the tinies bit of self-respect would support the flip-flopping Macron?

Educate yourself, read the biography of Momo, then you can grasp the qur'an (remembering that the medina part abrogates the meccan) the tafsirs explains the qur'an verses, the hadiths are the words and actions of Momo, if the believers say they don't believe in the hadiths, one simple question you ask them "do you pray 5 times a day" if the answer is "yes" then they follow the hadiths. Islam is an ideology....and must be treated as such.

The quran perfectly symbolizes islamic dualism. The Meccan surahs are (relatively) peaceful/tolerant because the ummah was weak and a minority at the time. The Medinan surahs are violent/intolerant because they originate from the time when the ummah was powerful and strong. The Meccan surahs (tolerance and peace) were/are a deceptive plan for the ummah to gain power and strength in preparation for violent jihad/war. Treaties are only to give muhammadans time to gain strength.

Douglas Murray has a better grasp of international affairs than most politicians. He is spot on in this video regarding Islamist extremism and those political forces who benefit from it. Can you think of any politicians who has laid out the dilemma so clearly as this? As for Macron, he is fighting alone, and he should be supported by all the countries who extol the values of Western Civilization. Islamic terrorism is striking at our core values everywhere, not only in France. Why should we be timid about asserting the virtue of our values and their primacy in the West. If you want to live in France or any other Western country, you must adopt our culture and its values. Period. Trudeau's effete rationalizations don't cut it.

It is Europe's curse or blessing that it should border Africa and that it should be near proximity to the Middle East. The fact remains that as long as Europe remains relatively rich and in comparison to the other two, it is, it will be an attraction to migrants. Were I from Somalia, I'd do my best to get out and reach Italy, it is really as simple as that. What would help in slowing migration is for Africa and the ME to improve their economies

We British have a strange relationship with France. I have come to the conclusion when talking to French people, mainly French ladies I must admit, that they think us British have our heads stuck up our own rectums, maybe that's just me? I am a fan of history and being Scottish take cognizance of the fact that British powers that be, shit themselves when the French Revolution took off. Needless to say, that went a bit OTT. Well done Macron, bullys need to be stood up against, otherwise, it just gets worse, Listen to Douglas quite a lot these days, coming from a Glasgow working-class background shows me how things are panning out.
