logangolf58. I am putting out a request to our You Tube subscribers to contact me if they are running the Triangle Zone Offense and are willing to share game footage vs zone defense with our subscribers. Keeping my fingers crossed that someone will step up to the plate!

I love these videos and am planning on using this offense this upcoming season for high school boys basketball. Just wondering why the far guard is in the wing position instead of post; or why there is no pinch post option? From my studies so far, it seems like a very good scoring option. I'm planning on running Schakel's offense but having a call to have the player come in to run the pinch post option at times. Would appreciate any thoughts on the matter.

Mark- We have two calls ("2 Up" and "3 Up") where we bring the isolated wing up to the top of the circle, instead of the post man. That far post man stays low. Then the ball is reversed to the isolated wing at the top of the circle and he runs the pinch post option with the far post. --Doug Schakel

Im so confused, i thought this was a zone play, but it could be used for man. The clips are against man defense, correct?

You are right, we used this against both zone and man defense. Go to "Doug Schakel Basketball KZfaq" and you will see all 4 videos of the Triangle Offense as well as 24 other videos.

It seems that they aren't really swinging the ball trying to get to different sides of the floor like was explained in the original videos. Is this because it's against the man? Or does the continuity of it not happen as much in game situations?

Andrew- First, make no mistake that I am a proponent of swinging the ball from side to side, as you mention. This, in my opinion, is always necessary against teams that play good defense. This video is of a team that adopted the Triangle Offense and allowed us to show it to our viewers. Unfortunately, their opponent does not play good defense. As a result, the offense finds quite a few scoring opportunities on "First-Side Attacks." I would refer to this as "Fool's Gold." It won't be that easy against a good defensive team; you will need to move the ball. We have a saying....."We are preparing to play against and defeat the best. And to beat the best with this offense, you will need good ball movement.
